    From Japan when I was walking the downtown area one lady suggested me I should visit this building. When I stepped in I was so much surprised and excited with this gaugeons, magnificent building. It is a really historic heritage reminding us the city used be one of the leading city of the world. Hope it will preserved forever. Thanks for letting me know the story behind.

    I moved to the Metro Detroit area about two years ago, and the first time I ever visited Downtown I immediately noticed this building without knowing what it is because it's so distinct. Then I stepped inside weeks later only to have my mind obliterated with how cool it is. I absolutely love this building, and downtown Detroit.

    Hands down by far and away the most beautiful building in Detroit, atleast from its exterior. The Fisher Building is its only rival in the lobby. Detroit despite is population exodus damaging its residential housing stock and educational facilities in areas, is still a truly majestic city. Nothing in New England truly begins to even rival Detroit.

    Im in training to be a City Tour Detroit guide (Store & tours are in the Lobby of the Guardian!)…your History video & this one are so appreciated and were very helpful in giving me the ability to talk authentically and intelligently about the buildings history, its role in Detroit and affect of the closing of the Union Trust Bank on National Banking rules / holidays as well as its colorful architecture and beautiful design. Thank you for taking the time to do the research and create these educational and interesting videos! 😊

    The production and attention to detail here are first rate and subject matter eminently interesting! We used to see local history documentaries like this on the PBS outlet, back before they decamped to Wixom. Thanks for starting what we hope is a new tradition!

    the Guardian Building has always been one of my favorite skyscrapers. I like how it's just differently shaped from most skyscrapers I've ever seen, and the color of the huilding itself. art deco buildings are cool

    Greetings,
    Wonderful effort and presentation. I was looking at the Fisher Building and ran across your work. Thank you for helping to put Detroit back on the map. Too many people who even live in Detroit have no idea of the history and crown jewels we have downtown. For myself, I never recovered from the destruction and loss of the Grand Dame of Detroit, J.l.Hudson & Co. But Detroit has finally made a positive turnaround and the downtown district has become popular again, even drawing in tenants. Your videos help to educate and stimulate new blood and interest in Detroit. Thank you.

    10:21, The Penobscot Building, and Guardian Building, were built at the same time, with the Penobscot Building already topped out, while the Guardian Building shown here under construction, and not topped out yet. Photo taken in late 1928.

    I wonder if such a large and iconic building might begin to convert some of its upper floors to residential units (as so many others have)? Seems like it would attract a lot of buyers with its beauty, charm and history.

    The windows added at 19:58 is due to heat. It was too hot, so those block out the light from cooking the inside. (Learned from my free tour of the Guardian in 2019.)

    What building are we gonna get next, maybe a more modern one? I mean I really love these buildings, but it's always been so weird seeing buildings pop up from the 90s or 80s

    • @JHPhotography
      @JHPhotography  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There are definitely modern buildings I want to cover. One that immediately comes to mind is the One Detroit Center because it was built in the 90s but blends perfectly with the city’s existing buildings. I don’t fully have a plan for what I’m going to cover next but there’s no shortage of things to choose from

    • @theoddfurry141
