- The roof was in need of serious repainting. This video covers the steps I took to remove the roof rack rails and how I repainted the roof surface.
Now that the roof has been painted, I plan to get a roof cargo basket to top off the jeep for some great overlanding fun!
Here is a link to my Amazon store that has all the items I used in the process.

Wasn't expecting a rattle can paint job. Started out with rattle cans on the Bumble Jeep (Rustoleum) and decided to switch before I finished (still not finished) to a 15$ Harbor Freight HVLP gun and quart cans of Rustoleum. Much better results. Still not sure if I will clear coat the Bumble Jeep. The Rustoleum buffs up pretty nice after is sits for a while. Your Project is shaping up nicely. Looking forward to more. God bless and stay well. BTW, what part of PA? I'm in the Hamburg area. A couple of the other Jeep (XJ) channels I follow are here in PA.
Yeah. It worked better than I imagined. I would love a real deal paint booth and a spray gun. Maybe for my next jeep :-).
I’m out in Chester County PA
Hey, how the paint holding up after a few years? I have rusty patches and peeling paint on the roof of my zj, and debating on doing it myself with rattle cans. Thanks!
It’s holding up really good. No issues at all. I’m happy with the results..and surprised too. Lol. Good luck with your project!
Wondering if you have any advice on a Jeep roof that doesn't have the holes pre-drilled for the rack rails? I have a 98 Cherokee and trying to figure out where to start. This is my daily drive, trying to get all my ducks in a row before I start drilling, so I've been a little hesitant. I also don't dont have a garage and it rains a lot in the summer! Very helpful tho, I'll be referencing back to this video once I get those holes drilled! Thanks!
Nice 👍 awesome job
Thank you!!!! Much appreciated!!!!!
Sorry stupid question what size drill bit did you use to make the holes?
Nice job Joe.👍👍
Thank you!!!! Been a while since I published a video. Good fun.
Love the intro!!!!
What is your tires size you are running. I know on a previous video you had 235/75r15 that what I'm running now and I have a 2 or 3½ inch lift on mine. And do you have any rubbing issues. Keep the video going I do enjoy them.
Thank you!!!!! I’m running 31x10.5 with a 3 inch lift! No rubbing issues (using spacers) thanks for the comment!!!!!!
@@JustJeep_It thanks for your rep5back. What kind of spacers are you running on your jeep
@@dstangman8951 rough country 1.5 inch spacers. I technically don’t need them but it makes the turning radius better and fills out the wheel wells nicely.
What is the name of the nut sert tool .
Threaded insert riveter kit
Came out great!
Thank you. Not bad for a rattle can job. Way better than what it looked like
