Thank you Patrick, in acro we don't use the speed indicator, and we have to "feel" the speed during the dive. So, we don't start "exactly" with the same speed every loop. In the past we tried some speed indicators with the "max speed memory" function and the result was that with these last generation gliders we can easily reach 150 km/h during a vertical dive. But you can safely loop the glider with less speed and i think that we probably stay between 120 and 130 the most part of the time.
Thank you ! My hang glideteacher said too that you cant see when anything is broken on the carbon, but on the alu pipes you can see when anything isn't ok C U AT THE CLOUDBASE =)
WOW...my dad is Croatian champion in HG,and I'm waiting for spring to start, too :) every time when I see this,I'm more hungry for flying! Best regards,Igor!
Dude, fantastic camera angle. I felt like I were there. Great job on the vid. And I have been reading about you in the rag. RESPECT.I can only hope to fly as well. Peace brother.
That's inspiring man. I've been wanting to hang glide since I was 12 years old - but now i'm in college and don't know how to afford it :(. But that vid makes me want to keep saving! awesome man.. awesome.
Hi Woody, thanks for your comment. The piece of music is from the "Kill Bill vol 1" original movie soundtrack and the title is "battle without honor or humanity". I don't know the name of the performer but I think he is probably a japanese composer (i'm not sure). Andrea
That's the "trolley" we use during the boat-towing (or aero-towing) take off. It makes the take off phase easier and safer. Thanks for your nice comment! :) Andrea.
Thanks for your comment, man! In truth, Hang Gliding is not so expensive at the beginning. After the first course you can fly for some years with very cheap, second hand material. So... you won't need to save so much money, mate! I wish you your dream to fly will come true very soon. It is a great experience! Andrea.
Hi Nico, thank you for your comment. I'm sorry but I really can't give you a great help because I've never flown in acro the Aeros, Moyes and Icaro gliders. About the Aeros Combat I've also heard that it is very difficult to spin but i've never tried it personally. What I can say you for sure is that my Wills Wing T2 is a very, very good glider. For acro it has just the tendency to "slip" out from the spin during the development but, with the right tuning, it becomes reliable enough. Andrea.
thank you friend, I've never been in Rio before and it would be great to come there. It is certainly one of the most attractive place in the world but, you know, from Italy it is a very long and expensive trip. Anyway, if I'll be more rich in the future and I'll decide to come in Brasil... i'll let you know for sure, mate! Andrea.
many thanks Bateleur, if I will find the time I'll try to make some other video shots during the next summer and, obviously, I will put them in youtube... Andrea
Thaaaanks!!! :) No, my T2 is a production-model glider. I don't have special equippments; I just have chosen the most "safe" optionals available for acro: alu leading edges (no carbon), alu control bar (no carbon), litestream uprights and 2.5 mm side wires. That's all. Andrea.
ciao Andrea, thanks for your answer to me and to some advice for hanglide acrobatits, i was seen many time all your video and i learn many from you. Thanks for advice, i,m prepare to doit loops and i think soonly i gona tray this. Salute
I watch jour video and tray to learn everething what i seen, you are realy great pilot. I hope maybe i do this soonly, i have desire to do this, but your are great. Please give some advise about loop and speen, thanks and ciao
hi Igor, my compliments to your dad and good luck for your fly career! ...and thank you for your comment ...i'm very happy to know that my video makes the people "hungry for flying"... :-)
An hang glider is steared through the weight shifting: if you move your body forward the glider will nose-dive, gaining speed... if you move your body backward, the glider will nose-up, loosing speed... if you move your body on one side, the glider will turn on that side... it is very, very easy at the end.
Thank you fendrstr (are you a stratocaster guitarist?) :-) and keep on flying!... maybe you will be able to do these maneuvers much sooner than you expect ;-) Andrea.
hi Croakamikaza, thanks for your compliments! Is difficcult to give brief advices via mail about acro maneuvers... too much things to say...:) The only brief advice I can give you now is to make a long, progressive training with Wing Overs... those are the basics for everything in acro (except the spin)... Fly safe!
No, my T2 is a production-model glider. I don't have special equippments; I just have chosen the safest optionals available for acro: alu leading edges (no carbon), alu control bar (no carbon), litestream uprights and 2.5 mm side wires. That's all. The Laminar ST is good... I've used it in acro before the T2. Sorry but there are too much things to say about doing loops safely. It wouldn't be serious from my part to start with an acro course via youtube... :).
Wonderful !!!!!! Tell me, which hang glider do you think is the best for accro now ? I am planning to buy an aeros combat L12 but I heard it cannot do the "spin"... thanks and well done ! Nico from Switzerland
What does it mean "OP'd"... maybe "operated"? In that case I can perfectly understand you because I've just broken my knee the last june and I've stayed all summer long walking on crutches! Anyway, you are very young, so you have all the time you need to recover your leg and to start with hang gliding. Thank you very much for your nice comments and good luck for everything :). Andrea.
A presto (spero), ciao, Andrea.
...actually, it can happen if you don't carry out a pre-flight check list. You know, as in any other "risky" activity it is just a matter of procedure ;-)
you should find an hang gliding flight school in your area and you should attend a complete flight course. After that you will have to pass an examination to obtain the hang gliding pilot's licence. Then you can buy your first flight equipment directly from the school...
nothing really dangerous will happen. In this kind of acro contests there are always two or three safety boats, with scuba divers inside who are ready to help you if you are in trouble. Anyway, usually, when you crash into the water you can easily reach the surface to breath, to open your harness and to swim far from the glider. After that the people on the safety boats will take the glider out of the water. It is really safe.
love the sound of the wind in the wires!!
thanks for leaving it there!!!

I still never get tired of watching this video. Thanks Andrea.
Andrea, as always a great video with a really dramatic soundtrack! Nicely done.
Excellent! Your loops look very smooth, and the spins are good too!
Thank you Patrick,

Awesome........We need to see more of these extreme hang gliding videos. Brilliant!!!
Thanks for the stimulating memories. Awesome flying!

Awesome Loopings there, Andrea :D
Loved the song too!
Wanna learn hang gliding too, unfortunately with fresh OP'd knee no good idea :(
Draaca.
yes, exactly... that's the reason why I've chosen those optionals... :)
fly safe!

Loved the wingover straight into a spin at 1:26. What easier and safer to spin, VG off or on. Cheers.

yes, but you need a tandem glider, which has a bigger size.
