Ouch!!!! But glad you had a good time. I am too cheap for that. My annual trip is usually around 1200 dollars total. Granted I ride my M/C there and live in a tent but the riding is spectacular. I have been going yearly since 2009 except for 2010 and 2020.
my wife's and i 1st time was back in 10 maybe was the week before the actual rally and hotel rooms were hard to find and expensive, not much for vendors ready to sell. last time there was in 13, stayed just over boarder in wy at mom and pop motel, nothing fancy but clean and friendly seems was like 80 bucks a night. my goal be stay at the campgrounds, have heard so many awesome party stories. if ya happen to be a vet, national parks are free to get in, just have to get card, either dd214, dav, retired or active ID's.
Flying costs..just ride bike unless a person has time constraints..a person can stay in tents in folks' yard for cheaper than hotels..don't buy merchandise until the end of rally...a person doesn't have to eat out all the time..just a few things to maybe consider...just friendly help..take care have a good one.
Why fly into Denver? South Dakota has airports! Renting a car to visit a motorcycle rally? The higher cost of things during the rally is probably no different than the higher cost of things in Florida during Spring Break! There are many ways to visit the great state of South Dakota while spending far less money! 😉
why in God's name would i go to Sturgis in anything else but a Harley? and a tent would be just fine.... other option would be by RV and trailer the bike... just the cost of the trailer parking....

Rode 700 miles to Sturgis in 1976 with a tent and $300. Had a great time. 7 days later , back home with $20 left.

National parks are taxpayer funded, should not cost anything to get in.
