I'm also in Portugal, closer to the coast. Water is a big problem here and we survived a fire last year with a lot of damage. After the shock I had lost my motivation, but I am rebuilding the garden because I saw your videos. They have given me back the joy of gardening. Thank you for that!
Ohh I'm sorry to hear that about the fire, but happy to hear you started your garden again! 🙏 Hope you have a great harvest and enjoy the fruits of your labour!
Great words. Most people are just too scared of change, or of what they think they need. When I lost my life partner I realized what really matters, nature is one of those things.❤
I'm sorry to hear you lost your partner! But happy you stayed in tune with the things that are important in life! Much love out from Portuguese nature! ❤️❤️❤️
Could not agree more, find the place and pace that suits you and enjoy it for all it has to offer. Will also add that I very much prefer these shorter videos.
You should consider planting peas, we planted one year and it was the crop that kept on giving. We had loads, and they are delicious in the pod as well. It was one of the best producing crops we've ever had.👍
In the UK we would never plant entirely in the shade as the seasons are just not long enough. I can see the opposite applies to Central Portugal, where shade is critical to retain moisture for growth and protection scorch from the sun.
Yeah , I was kinda surprised by that at first also, but after experiencing a summer myself, I understand why you want the veggies growing in the shade for most of the day .. my garden gets somewhere between 4and 6 hours of direct sunlight, the rest of the day everything is in the shade, and seems to be growing good this year
@leavingbabylonfamily I have a favorite pancake recipe to share with you. Hope you have the time to try it. Just a suggestion Fluffy Pancake/banana pancake 2 c of butter milk or sour milk(old milk that turn sour) 1 Lg very ripe banana mashed. 2 eggs 3 tablesp melted butter 2 teasp vanilla (The above is the wet ingredients. Put in a big bowl, mix well) 2.5 cup of flour 3 tablesp flour (use less if you want to) 1 tablesp baking powder .5 teasp of baking soda. .5 teasp salt (The above is dry ingredients. Put all in a big bow , mix well. ) Method Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mix together. DON'T OVER MIX ! it's ok the batter is a little lumpy 😅. While it's cooking, don't pat it down. Pancake will be flat and not fluffy 😊 Hope you like it. Impress your girlfriend when she comes but meanwhile experiment. Practice makes perfect 😂❤
Btw, the tomato sidebranch, you can replant them into the soil. Don't throw away but make sure you water them well. They will regrow just like a new seedling. I just found out on TH-cam. 😅 And I did it. It worked 😂. Just a thought to share with you 😊
I can't get your videos and Portugal out of my mind. Actually looked into offgrid land prices today. Coming from B.C. Canada I'd be blessed to end up there achieving (moreso) of what my heart calls out for. Saving up! Your area is beautiful! Where abouts is such raw land like yours?!
There's plenty of affordable land for sale here, the best way is to be here first before you buy anything, chances are that you will find something way cheaper then the stuff you find online .. this is castelo branco region, it's probably the cheapest region in Portugal...
I think you're glad to have escaped civilisation again. With and around your animals you have responsibility, work and entertainment. Even if it's hard to work outside in the heat, you have your little stream to cool off in. How I would love a piece of homemade cheese right now...
Summer heat is pretty intense, when I lived in the Alentejo the water heated up just by being out in the sun that way saved money on propane. So true, we don't need much at all, everything we need is a our disposal, nature🥰🥰
Yes, that's the plan at some point.. but so many projects already, and my house isn't even finished😅 but yeah would be very good to have a stone BBQ, also for smoking meat and so on
Watching you milking reminds me of when I first started milking two cows, twice a day, as a teenager. The first two weeks were a nightmare, cramping thumbs lol, but once you get used to it it goes fast. We used to get forty litres plus every day.👍
I am secretly dreaming off some milking cows 😅 but yeah I really enjoy milking my sheep! When I first started I took ma a long time, now I am done in few minutes
Perfect life .... What do you think about cats maybe a good place for them there to😊 Mine take out the rabbits, mouses and rats. I could take two baby's to you if you want. 🙏🫂😘
My neighbour has some little kittens at the moment to, he asked me also if I wanted some.. I do like cats allot, but I don't want any at the moment, and also I am bit afraid they would kill to much birds and gecko's and so on ..
A very simple but fundamentally true philosophy.
Thanks
Ooh waauw thanks! That's much appreciated! ☺️ , this will go to the 'sheep fund'
Thanks!
Ooh waauw! Thanks Sonia for all your support! It's really much appreciated! This will buy me a new sheep 😁🐑😁
