    Thank you for being so thorough. 68 year old beginner 2 months loves your explanations. Even the simplest things are very important. Thank you again❣️

      You are so welcome! You’re right, the little things are important too. It’s not fun when you’re stuck and you have to wait for someone to hopefully answer your question. Welcome to the creative world of sewing. I have several quick gift type tutorials plus various other tutorials sorted into playlists if you’re looking for your next project. ✂️ Happy Sewing!!

      It’s a great trick when stitching a lost button back onto a dress shirt. I tend to use a fat yarn needle but it’s the same principal.

    i love how you show imperfections and how to fix mistakes like too close stitching to seem... thank you!!!

      Thank you. When I first started quilting I thought I was the only one making mistakes. The blogs that I read always had perfect blocks etc. of course now I know better. Everyone makes mistakes. The key is knowing how to fix them. I don’t want a anyone thinking I’m perfect and that their items aren’t good enough. Have a great weekend.

    Great tutorial! I love the elastic closure. My pattern called for velcro but then you had to know the exact size of your cup for the sleeve to fit properly. Your method is much more flexible.I also appreciate how you give inexpensive alternatives instead of promoting the latest tool or notion that's for sale out there. So refreshing not having to buy more 'stuff'. Although now I need to go to the dollar store and buy elastic bands. we do a white elephant exchange each Christmas with my family and this would be a perfect addition to a gift basket.

    Another great tutorial Robin. I don't use those cups but my daughter does :) I want to make one (or a few haha) and will try shaping the fabric pieces to go with the curve. I've seen a patchwork paper template (not that I need it) that uses dresden type pieces, so I'll work on that principal. I like both the options you showed and I have quite a few food fabrics to try out. I'll also try the scrappy method with batting & fabric but still use 2 outer fabrics - that way it will give an extra thickness against the heat. Thanks for the template link which I'm going to print out NOW - have a happy scrapitude weekend :)

      @rsislandcrafts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have a scrap curve project that uses that type of shape. I’m fine either way but I know some crafters prefer evenness.

      You could embroider an initial on the center possibly.

      @@rsislandcrafts Great idea. I was thinking of embroidering "Coffee" on it.

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Susan Pepper I was going to suggest that but I’m not familiar enough with embroidery machines to know if they can go around a curved shape like that.

    Hi robin just tried to watch your WIP Wednesday Easter is coming and it says it's a private video lol is it part of the patreon or have I pressed something wrong lol xx

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Lise. No, you didn’t do anything wrong. I’m blaming TH-cam for this one 😆. While I was scheduling the video to post on Wednesday something happened and It was posted this morning. I pulled It down right away but not before It had 30 views. Now there’s the grey box showing that It is a private video. I’m sorry about that. WiP It Wednesday will go live Wednesday morning at 9 am as usual. Sorry about any confusion.

    Would the snaps work on this too?

    • @rsislandcrafts
      @rsislandcrafts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I thought about snaps but It might not be easy or safe to snap the sleeve on the cup. You would have to snap It and then slip It onto the cup. I was picturing hot coffee squirting out the top because the cup was squeezed when It was snapped.
