- A political row has mounted up as Congress Party Goa candidate Captain Viriato Fernandes says, "Constitution was forced in Goa." On which, the BJP says, "Congress has a tukde-tukde mindset." Captain Viriato Fernandes also said, "Goa was liberated in 1961.".

This guy seems doesn't know timeliness, as to year of Constitution, year of Liberation, Courts say about annexation, whether India Goa existed at time of Portuguese coming. FYI, Constitution starts WE THE PEOPLE, and till 1961 we were not the people, and 1961 there's No Documentation of our Assembly, because there was Governor. Probably, you know nothing about Goa.

Hats off to Viriato. It's time to bring out all the issues promised at the Liberation time. Not by people who didn't exist then in any negotiations. People like Juliao Menezes, Ram Manohar Lohia, and many Goans in Portugal itself along with Gians in Goa negotiated the framework of Liberation. Not the present ones to frame laws about what we should do of Goa.

@@ProtoTypeErrorfor your kind information Goa was not even a part of india when Indian constitution was written.. on 19 December 1961, the Indian army with operation Vijay resulted in the annexation of Goa. So obviously the indian constitution was forced upon all the Goans who lived in Goa.

For you kind information the ancient boundary of our Gomantak Bhumi started from today's Kankavali in North to Gangavali river in South. Which was part of Sapt Konkan which is clearly mentioned in our Hindu Puranas. The western ghats along the Deccan plateau denoting the boundary of our Parshuram Bhumi.

As the good captain has been a fore bearer on many issues why didn't he bring the issue that constitution was forced upon Goa and that we want special status in these past 12 years.

The day Goa was liberated by our Indian armed forces from Portuguese rule and possession then automatically the Indian Constitution applies to Goa.! Once Portugal surrendered Goa to India then everything about India should be enforced in Goa. Otherwise it amounts to Separatism and Sedition charges.! 🤔

A very clever strategy to bring up the issue/demand "the constitution was forced upon Goa and we want special status" 13 days before the election date on 7/05/2024.
The good captain has a strong opponent in Pallavi Dempo. He is aware of the good will and influence that the Dempo name comes with.
Thus in order to counter his opponent he has brought the issue/demand "that the constituion was forced upon Goa and the want for special status".
This will give him an edge in the orthodox Christian voter community of South Goa. At the same time this move by the good Captain may be pivotal in deciding his political rise and future.
While people are getting emotional over the issue/demand;

We follow PORTUGUESE CIVIL CODE IN GOA TILL DATE So Nobody has right to talk about Us including Ambedkar's constitution.We do not have family court or Goa High Court here, we have a bench of Bombay High Court

The Portuguese Code of Conduct was declared an Indian law by the Honorable Supreme Court in 2019. Before this many and major parts of the Portuguese Code of Conduct were repealed and replaced by laws from the Indian Constitution in the year 1962-63. The Portuguese Code of Conduct is not limited to Goa it also extends to Daman and Diu.
There is no reason for a seperate High court in Goa as the High Court of Bombay at Goa serves the states of Goa, Maharastra and the UT of Daman and Diu. This was officialy confirmed and passed in the year 1987.
Given the small stature of Goa the requirement of seperate Hight Court was not deemed necessary. You may come back and say Sikkim has a high court. To that Sikkim was a kingdom that accepted the Indian constitution and set up the High Court at the same time when statehood was granted to it.
Now my question, there were so many non CMs and MPs before the good captain why didn't they make this demand when they were in power, by now this issue would have been dealt with.
@@CroftVan CM's and MP's still today are working on Dual citizenship for Goa which is not possible with the Indian constitution so goans are returning Indian passport and citizenship till today with long queues, our spouses have given up and left as Portuguese citizens they have an OCI to come home to parents and eventually want our children to leave and we don't want that to happen but we don't have any job opportunities in Goa for us before goans left for the gulf countries now those individuals don't want their children to go to the gulf countries as it doesn't ensure our children any jobs it's a socio- political issue Goa doesn't have a good basic infrastructure till date and anyway we have 2 MP seats to voice for Goa good as Not to heard.
@@indirafernandes6667 Goa doesn't have infrastructure?, I guess two functioning airports, being the number 1 state in India, almost 90% road connectivity within the state and with the neighboring states, two major railway station junctions for a small state and a international port are not enough. The truth, so they have OCI which is basically dual cutizenship and it has been allowed by the Indian Constitution. So your original argument stands invalidated.
No jobs in Goa you say, why migrate to greener pastures shoukd have stayed back and made/make Goa great. Then there would be no reason to complain. Had they stayed back and worked towards setting up a sustainable eco system of industry and commerce, there would be no need to migrate as Goa itself would be self reliant.
