Absolutely be yourself Simon. You're a decent guy so there's no way you would ever intentionally offend. You're absolutely right when you say the channel is ' your space' and no one who makes TH-cam videos should ever feel pressured to pander to their audience. The ' show and tell' format is tried and tested but can get stale unless its' presented in an interesting and unique way. I really want to start moving towards talking about the music that I already have ( and lets' be honest, we all have a lot ). You've done some great content what with ' Elmut and your themed videos about certain genres or eras..change if you need to, or carry on as you are, it's your call and just do what you're comfortable with.
I agree, these channels are our space to express ourselves however we see fit, show and tell is all very good but can, like you said, become stale after a while if you feel your not really engaging well enough with your audience, I find sometimes a good old chat first, airing our thoughts and putting them to the audience can be very satisfying as many have already have gone through or still are going though these thoughts and emotions and are interested hearing on what you have to say, keep it interesting, thanks Rob
Hi. I enjoyed your CD finds, but I really liked hearing your thoughts and reflections on our common obsession in collecting stuff. I wonder, when are we owners of stuff and when are we slaves to stuff? My brother and I have been dealing with the storing and selling of our deceased elder brother's massive toy lead soldier collection. The real pain is the cost of a storage locker. We are now going to divest the collection en masse via a specialized auction site. I'll feel so great when it is out of our hands and in theirs. Now I'm afraid of burdening my family with a similarly immense vinyl, cd and growing comic collection. My wife, on the other hand, is a minimalist so she occasionally lets he know that she feels overwhelmed by the omnipresence of my stuff. My problem is that I am always curious about discovering new music and now comics too. We have a new house in the Dominican Republic, where my wife is from, and I have promised not to make her dream home cluttered, yet I have already started bringing a few of my CD and DVD doubles there for future enjoyment. My wife is smart enough to know that I won't change my ways so she has allocated me a small place to store my things there. I'd be interested in you elaborating more on your reflections on the topic as I find it relevant. Thanks for a great video!
I used to collect soldiers and ww2 tanks, I once in my teens, had a subscription to a magazine that everyone had a lead soldier, after about 50 issues I realised what a rut i'd gotten myself into and vowed never got into that situation again, I guess there are many pros and cons to ownership, particularly owning too much of something, when you have to pay for storage for something, you end up paying for the privilege of just owning that collection, that's a situation you really don't want to be in however it's different if your left something from someone who's no longer with us, (sorry to hear of your brother) that's a very difficult situation to be in, luckily for you your not alone by the sounds of things, first priority would be to offload that collection first then maybe should you continue to need the storage unit you could move some of your own collection to it later on as you decide where to go from there if need be, it's not like anyone can tell you what to do as only you or ourselves have to figure it out, everyone's situation is different, sooner or later you have to do the right thing whatever that might be, I'm sure it will come to you and you will figure it out eventually, it takes time, being aware its a problem is the first step as many don't even get that far, I will touch on this subject again at a later stage, thanks for sharing and leaving a comment its much appreciated
Hi Simon. I'm not keen on channels showing off expensive new releases. I usually think, "Have you actually found time to listen to this 10-LP box set?" With so much interesting stuff available on TH-cam, it has to be something special for me to want a physical copy at full-price. I get more fun from searching charity shops for bargain CDs. Talking of which, Blondie, Stone Roses and Del Shannon caught my eye.
Carl, it is to me when vcer's show the latest and greatest "keeping up with the Jones's" showcasing, frankly it's doesn't appeal to me as I find it mostly uninteresting and predictable, unless you can really afford the expense it's not a healthy way to be, like many on here I enjoy finding those gems in the rough, the smaller finds that often get either overlooked, forgotten or dismissed, finding a incredibly expensive find for virtual nothing is exactly what it's about for me, or a great album that was really overlooked and not to many know about it or something along those lines
@@vinyldale I agree entirely. It was what attracted me to your channel and Rob Walker's. I was picking up stuff at car boots/charity shops and just wondered if anybody was showing their finds on TH-cam.
Thanks Carl, absolutely, there are divisions within the vinyl community, niches within the niche itself that draw certain types of people to channels but ultimately we are all vloggers
I, would like to think one of my messages to you recently about constantly buying and collecting stuff helped put you in this new space!! You be you, discuss WHATEVER,sir, I'll be tuning in👍🤟
Hi Dale, like you 5 for £1 for CDs offers a great price but I often either pay the £1 and take one or two discs or simply pay the charity a donation greater than they are asking if the few discs are good. Recently picked up some Big brother and the holding company CDs in super condition, one was fully signed by the band but it was a fairly recent issue. They were one of the late great Janis Joplin's bands. Great Del Shannon cd's. He was considered by Harrison and Lynne to replace Roy Orbison in the Wilburys but passed away before it was offered to him. Could have made things interesting.Great Tom Petty cd,worth every penny. I heard that cd production is being discontinued in 5 years time by all record companies due to the current resurgence of vinyl, which is now outselling cd. Personally I dislike the crackle and pop of vinyl and prefer cd and mini disc, so I will be keeping mine but I have and regularly still do take my unwanted cd's to charity stores and ensure that I gift aid them to ensure maximum money for the charity. Thanks for the interesting video Dale 👍
You got some good cds there Simon. How annoying with the Fleetwood Mac not having the correct disc in it. The prices of vinyl is starting to get ridiculous as with everything else. Some of us just collect what we like and don't buy stuff just for the sake of it. Hope things are going well for you and you had a good Easter 🐣
New to your channel and just subscribed. I've been at it for over 2 years now with my channel, and I don't edit anything, it's all just spontaneous thought from me. If people are offended by some of my words than so be it. Like you said, it's your channel. Take it in the direction you choose. On the topic of when is it enough, I regularly find myself culling my collection and getting rid of records, but always replace them with releases that are new to me. Sadly these days, a sense of humor is lost on many people, and that is unfortunate. Many collectors take themselves a tad too seriously. Nothing wrong with a Stone Roses singles collection. They did some excellent alternate versions from their brief career. Feels like heaven by Fiction Factory takes me back to school days in the 80s.
Many thanks, returned the gesture, yes unfortunately that is the sad truth, humour is lost amongst many people and most do take themselves far to seriously, culling is a way for some collectors to manage there collection whether they like to admit it or not I think everyone goes through some degree culling of their collection, thanks for dropping by much appreciated all the best 👍
Some good finds there Simon.....you just be yourself and carry on 👍👍.....shame about the Rumours album.Keep it and try to get a second hand copy of the original.......e-bay or Amazon??......Or you could burn it🤫🤫😁😁
I'm not a fan of these channels where the people are buying stuff one day & celebrating their " score " & then selling the stuff on livestreams & not giving any kind of deal to their supposed " friends ".. I just picked up Tori Amos tickets for a show this summer.
Yes I totally agree, Its a little self centered, using TH-cam subscribers as there own personal ebay isn't a good look in my opinion, your not alone on your views David, thats cool you got tickets to see Tori, many thanks
By our human nature we are consumers... We consume media...air...food...things it's how we are wired. I have enough things I could never buy anything again and be content. Or will I? Lol... I guess that's why I fish. It's nice to disconnect and go sit in nature and relax even if the fish aren't biting. You should get a camera...I hiking stick... A fishing rod and disconnect and enjoy the best things in life like nature. If I lived in the UK I'd be carp fishing with the mates all the time. Oh wait I do that in the states haha... But you'll always have music to enjoy. Contentment can be had very easily
That was a very thoughtful, pensive chat Simon there I think I agree with you in the most part. Music and records has been a part of my life many many years though I've sold sometimes actually at fairs that has been so enjoyable interacting experience not just about the money though that helps, in comparison to these VC online auction etc I'm very small but part seller I have to have a normal job like the rest of us. Actually few VC big channels are really poor and quite dismissive I have even been blocked by one big channel but I think the guy is an idiot lol.
Thanks Martin, I agree with the way your handling selling off records privately, that says that you have an outlet for your own collection which is good way of dealing with it, however I don't necessarily agree with other channels auctioning off there no longer wanted records to there fan base as it feels a little off to me, I believe subscribers are your audience not shoppers out to buy your records, have some pride for god sake but that's just my opinion but I don't think I'm alone on this. Some channels bury there heads in the sand and the fear of missing out takes over there lives as they then end up competing with others with owning the latest and greatest box set, that's all very well if you can afford it, however if your not in that bracket their really playing a dangerous game and can fall flat on their faces if not careful, imoi, interesting to know who your talking about though, all the best Martin 👍
You can say that again both music and the movies were alot better in the 70's and the 80's than today? unfortunley it's disappering no more hard tickets, not as many stores open your right it's sad? it says humanity is very boring? your right cd's sound better than the phones ! nice Blondie original Pat Boone on cd , nice shiny disc , Tori let me guess you picked it up to help out the economy? nice Tom Petty , Patty smith, some nice pickups !
Thanks Mark, I'm afraid tangible things will eventually be a thing of the past as we further into this digital age, we have the best of both worlds at the moment but it will eventually all become digital and we will own a lot less in the future
Absolutely be yourself Simon.

I agree completely Carl!
Hi Simon!! cool finds and nice to hear your thoughts too and be who you are and always do as you want. cheers mate
I find the hunt or the searching for the records or whatever is really fun. Most days I come home with nothing, but I enjoy it
There's a real buzz hunting for records
I, would like to think one of my messages to you recently about constantly buying and collecting stuff helped put you in this new space!! You be you, discuss WHATEVER,sir, I'll be tuning in👍🤟

Some deep thoughts Simon it’s never enough always on the hunt
No never, the hunt continues but its good to be self aware, 👍
