Hi Simon, interesting stories about music from your past. This spring there was a thing going on in Facebook. I got invited to show 20 albums over 20 days. The thing went "...challenged me to choose 20 albums that greatly influenced my taste in music. One album per day, for 20 consecutive days. No explanations, no reviews, just covers." I decided to show the first 20 important albums to me. It took me all the way from 1977 up to 1991 and I couldn't resist writing a little paragraph to most of them about why they were important and what my memories were of them. I've often thought since of taking that material and turning it into a VC video. It would fit quite nicely into this thread probably. I enjoyed hearing you talk about how people used to record copies of other peoples records onto cassette tapes. That is something that we mis now. I used to love making my own compilation tapes but recording my favourite songs onto one cassette. Great video mate! Cheers

@@johnbellamy3406 thanks John, it felt a bit awkward talking about my past and explaining the emotions but I'm glad I did it and maybe it will encourage others to open up a bit and maybe do a response video

Hi Simon, interesting stories, yes music and records and tapes you bought always have memories attached, when and where you bought something.
My first cassettes were compilations, first ones were from 1986 Dance Hits 86 and Hit Mix 86, then later The Dance Chart and my first NOW which was NOW 9. I remember
finding NOW 7 in a record shop on holiday in Aberystwyth in North Wales. I can remember my dad taking me to my local Our Price to buy NOW 11. On one family holiday my dad
would play a Roy Orbison tape all the time in the car. I think my first non-Compilation cassettes were George Michael's Listen Without Prejudice and UB40's Labour Of Love Ii.
First non-compilation CD was i think Lenny Kravitz album Are You Gonna Go My Way. Great video :)

@@marksplaceuk2 thanks Mark, sounds like you have similarities to myself when it comes to compilations on cassette and listening to mum and dad's music, Our Price where on just about on every high street as well as Woolworths and WH Smiths all selling music, Dixon's, Currys and Argus to pick up the players, it's a shame future generations will ever experience shopping from these places with birthday and Christmas money and vouchers and the thrill and the memories that go with it when your a child growing up and purchasing all your firsts, an age when things are far more appreciated and precious to you, thanks again for watching 🙏

@@vinyldale NOW 7 was actually the first NOW i heard when a fellow classmate brought her cassette in for the taxi driver to play on the way to school. Cassette goes in and out the speakers comes Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer.

Hi Simon!!! So nice to hear about your music journey and always cool going back in memory lane to good and simple times. I think we share a similar background, my parents also loved to listen to a lot of music on the radio/car and then discovering a lot of cool music played on the radio an as you played record on dub tapes trying to get a cool song without any interruption. Also shared a similar taste with the brother so we alwasy bored music from each other..... cheers and be well

@@CookieMusic43 Thanks Richard, I decided to run with it with my early cassette collection of cheesey pop music from about 8 years old onwards and my first experience's listening to CDs to collecting them, for me nothing compared to those two early oasis albums and I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that from those who are similar in age as myself, I expect something similar has happened to you with Bowie, thanks for watching Richard 🙏
