Really great video! One of my favorite features of the 70-300 is how close you can get, as I love detail and "small world" photos. Those barnacle textures were really lovely and so abstract.
Great examples Kirk I'm very happy with my 70-300, it rarely leaves my X-S10, a very versatile and sharp lens that I use for macro and tight shots, it was well worth the 6 week waiting period to get it.
Hello Kirk. I really like your channel. Nice and easy and real life experience. No pixel peeping and other nonsense. Was ready to sell my 16-80 to get the 16-55 but overall I don't think it's worth the additional cost. Picture quality is great with the 16-80 and paired with this 70-300 it makes a great combo WR and IOS that does not have the 'brick'. I have the new 18mm f1.4 for only prime lens now. Very versatile and best IQ in the Fuji primes. I'll be pretty much covered for everyday now.
Really great session Kirk I love the shots of the propeller in particular. I've recently purchased the 70-300 after having watched some of your earlier videos on this lens and I have to say I really love it. Will do some experimenting with close up work after having watched this latest video. Thanks for the inspiration
Thanks for this. It inspires me to do more macro with my 70-300. Have you used macro rings with this lens? I tried a couple of times. Great results. I'll try to combine the rings with the extender and see what the x-h2 can do with it. The longer focal distance means we don't have to get too close to live objects:) Great music too!!!!
Really enjoyed this video, Kirk! I especially loved the shots you did on the propeller. I rarely do any closeup work, but since I have this lens, I'll have to try some. Nice work!
I own a 70300 and use this lens for landscape photography. A very sharp lens. I do have a 1.4 teleconverter I’ll try using teleconverter. Looks great. Mahalo for the hard work.
If you can get them to stay still for long enough, the 70-300 with the converter works wonderfully for butterflies and and dragonflies - down to vein details on wings. The IS and high shutter speed give really good results. For static macro I'm going to look at focus bracketing and stacking - the Xt3 supposedly can do the bracketing automatically for you, to get a deeper depth of field (if I can figure my way through the manual!)
Nice close-up images Kirk. The paterns and textures looked great. I assume you had the camera set on self-timer or used a remote/phone to trigger the shutter due to slow shutter speeds?
Hi Kirk, this is my next purchase, rhe XF70-300mm. Versatile and compact. There is some kind of magnifier lens, they look like a filter that you can use for macro instead of buying a specific macro lens. I don't know if it is possible to use it on this lens ? Thanks very interresring !! By rhe way, where can i bought your nice Cap Ann photo tour shirt :-) ?
Hi alain - not sure if the adapter will work on this lens. Fuji extension tubes may though. The shirt I have on is my embroidered shirt. I son't have any shirts for sale. Wish I did.
I just tested this lens with the XT-5 and it's 40 megapixel sensor. It works just fine. I can see why Fuji has it on its recommended list for the XT-5.
New subscriber here! 🙌 I love how you just talk to the viewer as if we’re really there with you! And the perspective of your shots are soooo cool! oh, I wish I have that lens! One of my dream lenses. 🥰
Many thanks! At some point they will come around used at a better price. When they are more available (in the fall maybe) the prices may also come down.

Yes I have to go back and really work on those.
Interesting photos. Love the 'barnacles on the prop' shots towards the end.
Yes same here Matt!

Rich - Glad you finally were able to get one! Awesome lens.
Just ordered this lens, can’t wait to get it. Video was really inspiring. Many thanks
Samantha this lens is really good you will enjoy it.

Laurent many thanks! Looks like you have a great kit there. 16-80 and 70-300 covers everything and the 18 is great for carry around everyday images.

Thanks Phil - I'm glad you this has inspired you to shoot some macro with the 70-300.
Very interesting macro photography!
Thanks Lynn! Not my usual genre. I need to do more and get better at it.
Interesting video - great soundtrack too !
Thanks! God bless Epidemic Sound for the great soundtrack.

I have not used any extension tubes on the 70-300. I just don’t do enough of it to warrant buying them even though they are fairly cheap.
@@KirkWilliamsonphotography See if someone will leave a set in your Xmas stocking:) Mine work with AF too.
Great video. I se my Fuji 70-300 for flowers. Nice blurred backgrounds
Thanks! It’s a great lens for that.
Really enjoyed this video, Kirk! I especially loved the shots you did on the propeller. I rarely do any closeup work, but since I have this lens, I'll have to try some. Nice work!
Thanks Geoff the prop images were my favorites as well.
A very versatile lens in the hands of a capable photographer, produces winners!
Thanks Bill for the suggestion!
The boat prop with the fossils was very cool.
Yes Mark I agree!

Many thanks 🙏 give the Macro a shot.
Wow, some great ideas there. I have very recently bought this lens with the x1.4 converter, it is a winning combo for me.
You will love the lens and the 1.4x
Great job Kirk!
Thanks Loris!

Very cool about the butterflies etc. Focus stacking is much easier done manually than using the focus bracketing feature although it can be done.
Interesting video Kirk. Do you know if the 70-300 is also compatible with the Meike extension tube set MK-F-AF3 ?
Sorry I have no idea if it is or not. But I bet the Fujifilm extension tubes do.
Superb Kirk respect from UK
Many thanks!
Shooting the bolt-action 😃 Thanks for the video!
Haha yes bolt action.
Thanks for the video ✌️👍
Many thanks Nacho!
Nice close-up images Kirk. The paterns and textures looked great. I assume you had the camera set on self-timer or used a remote/phone to trigger the shutter due to slow shutter speeds?
Hi Steve, I was Mr. Lazy bones and used 2 sec timer. Thanks!
@@KirkWilliamsonphotography Ha Ha! That's what I use sometimes too.

This lens is among my favorites! Amazing quality at such a great price point.
Would this be worth to get for an X-T1?
I can’t see why not. The auto focus won’t be as fast but for general use it should be great with that camera.
Nice video kirk
Thanks Steve!

Since I received my long awaited lens it hasn’t left my x-s10 body…..
Have fun with it!
