    I remember old timers putting pipe cleaners in the push rods. To restrict the flow.

      The engine that was already in the first Street Stock I bought way way long time ago did have pipe cleaners in the pushrods!

    I even use oil restrictors with hydraulic lifters but I take the o-rings off of them to allow more oil to pass through.

      Never had thought about that as a possible combination but yeah that would make sense as a way to create a slight reduction in some circumstances. Thank you for sharing Sam.

    Sounds like you have a drain back issue, lifters are supposed to control the oil flow, restrictors in the gallery can leave the front lifters dry.

      I didn't cut the block up as much as possible. That's a solution as well that can be explored on a refresh but there's nothing wrong with using restrictors if using the right ones the right way.

    What about a crankcase evac. System ?

    • @DIRTRACELIFE
      @DIRTRACELIFE  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately we are not allowed to run an evac system in the CRUSA rules and we just have to vent the rocker covers. If I could I would run the exhaust evac system since our engines have a wet sump oil pump.

    Are the restrictor plug holes? Are they all the same size are do they have different sizes that maybe my problem I keep getting oil up in my breathers on the valve cover

      Small block Chevys are all the same but the newer blocks have the thicker boss like what I showed adding clearance. If you are pumping so much oil it's coming out the baffles it could need restrictors but make sure its not just from excessive blow by on the rings.

    Should a stock motor with hydraulic roller lifters with a 20% high flow pump have restrictors? I think mine does and it is barely getting any oil at all to the rockers and sometimes none at all

    • @DIRTRACELIFE
      @DIRTRACELIFE  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, Don't run restrictors in that scenario. Very likely that is your problem bud!

    • @daredevildare3641
      @daredevildare3641 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DIRTRACELIFE yeah I was thinking so, I think the leak down of the lifter is more than the oil flow and it’s just running out of oil before it gets to the lifter, should I take it out completely or should I drill it out bigger ?

    • @DIRTRACELIFE
      @DIRTRACELIFE  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would just take it out to start with. Remember, The point of restrictors is to limit "excess" oil from getting pumped to the top of the engine. So until you have excess you dont have an issue.

      @@DIRTRACELIFE how do I know if there is excess though, i was kinda worried it may pump the bottom dry also but I’ve never had anything with a hv pump though so I’m not sure exactly how much they pump or anything

      leave a cover off and fire it up! your looking for it to slobber off the top of those rockers but not look like water hoses 😉

    One thing I can't stand is a leaky motor getting oil everywhere
