This was so close to the story of my own young life and me finding my Father , first finding his younger brother then a Grandmother I didn’t even know I had and in doing so I learned from them a story that a novel could not compete with plus the reason I wasn’t cum back for , it was to protect me . I loved this story. It was the 1st one I was able to hear to the end. The reunion between the mother, father, son, and grandmother even though it was a little uncomfortable they made it through.

Very good story! I know the feeling he felt before knocking on his fathers door! I lived in the same city as my biological father. I never knew or was curious because I was raised by my new family mother, step father, but really raised by my grand mother and father. When I was 21, married with two daughters, my grandfather who was retired as a section chief for the Canadian CPR railroad came to me and asked how I would feel if I could meet my father. It took me back, I thought for a bit and curiosity for the first time in my life, I said OK, yes I’m not sure if I am ready because all I knew about him was from my grandmother who said he was a gentle man, a good, strong man and my mother ran him off when I was a year old. So you see I didn’t know about him until later in
life, he lived no more than 3 miles from me as the crow flies!
The day of reckoning came as I drove up alone to the address given by my grandfather. He was expecting me. I sat in the car wondering whether to drive away or go knock on the door! Stern 10 minutes I got out of the car, big lump in my throat, pounding heart, I walked slowly to the door! It was like if you can imagine walking “ the last mile!” all of 10 yards to the door! I rang the door bell and felt like running as we did as kids in ringing bell and running like hell!
The door opened, a giant of a man stood there with a large smile and said Dwayne, come in. The smile and kindness set me immediately at easy and I sat at the kitchen table. He offered me some lemon aid, I said thank you please! We sat and looked at each other then he broke the silence. He said that he remarried and had two sons and 2 daughters, which they and their mother were asked to quickly meet me and then disappear to give us uninterrupted time together. I can’t tell you the names as my mind was swirling as I started with I was married with two daughters, I worked at a local newspaper commercial printing newspaper. He talked briefly about my mother and his relationship, that was it and no more. I said no worries, all that matter is now. He wanted to meet his granddaughters and wife and wanted us to be part of of each others life. We arranged to get together, met, talked a lot and it was the start of a good experience, I thought. It wasn’t long before I could feel something was wrong, tension, something between my new step mom and my dad. I decided to cool it and my dad would come over every Sunday to visit his grandkids and us. He mentioned that there was a jealousy since I/we came into his life. Probably because we were so new and interesting, lol. Well, I can’t believe that he told her every Sunday at the same time was going over to his brothers to give a haircut. A brother who had no hair! We chuckled when we heard that! Any ways, we got to spend time with dad and Oppa! I was in heaven whenever he came.
