I am a VOP (very old person). Grew up on Chuck Berry and Little Richard. I still have the Joy of Cooking first vinyl. Just listened to it. My GOAT in popular music.
Carl, the very first record I ever bought was Long Tall Sally by Little Richard! I must have been all of 9 or 10 years old. I loved Chuck and Richard then, I love them now. I loved The Joy in the 70's, I love them now.
I still have my first JOC album (and a turntable to play it on) and consider it one of my favorite albums. I remember the first time I saw them and the crush I had on Toni, ah the heartache of youth! A great band and two REALLY great musicians.
i had such a crush for toni just from the album pictures so to find this video 45 years later is way too cool....what a fine band and such just memories of times gone by.....
I can't say thank you enough. Until I say thank you to Terry and Toni. God knows my eyes fill with tears as I listen in 2019. Such beautiful lyrics. Such wonderfiul harmony. All you older hippies who helped in my growth. David and Vievie. QMS. The Grateful Dead. Grace&Kantner. Hot Tuna. John from NYC with the finest liquid. Thank you. God bless you all. I pray for your blessings. Lord knows I have recieved my own. Peace and Love. Om Shanti. Shanti. Shanti.
This band matches the expectations of 1970s 2nd Wave Feminism perfectly because there are two female vocalists up front, and one is a guitar player; the rhythm section players are men (bass and drums).
Cinematic lyrics, beautiful music.
I had the "Joy of Cooking" album back in the day. This is a great song from that album.
Nice down to Earth music. Beautiful minds.

Caught them live Berkeley, 1973 - brilliant.
Perfect harmonies, really loved these two and Joy of Cooking.
These ladies made some really wonderful music.

They came out of the San Francisco Hippie scene. This is not country or follk music of any kind
