    Cab story: One passenger stiffed me for $20. I reported it. He never paid me. But when he got arrested for something, they denied him bail because he had an outstanding warrant for not paying me. A victims of crime department informed me via a letter. I smiled a lot when I got that letter.

      Did you see just how lacking he was in proof?? I didn't even see injuries in the photos he gave! Maybe it was my bad vision, but having the images in color would've really helped since swelling usually has redness and perhaps other decoloration you can see around the area vs what the photos he showed were.
      You can't expect a judge to give someone all the cash they demand simply because they got the slightest glimpse of puppy eyes and were pleading "have mercy on me, Your Honor" - especially since you don't know if he suffered genuine injuries or the situation went as he said. If a judge did that, they'd be dishonoring the system and would have to be as rich as Oprah! Hell, then every countersuit would be fulfilled as well, even ones that have nothing to do with a case (pain and suffering for bad flooring? You'd better have had a nail or something stuck in your foot for that!).
      Like, have you seen how many women go on these show, give a sob story, and walk out with nothing but humiliation because they were trying to play the judge? This isn't America's Got Talent where the sappiest sob stories get the Golden Buzzer. No, this is legal stuff, where everything has to be checked and done to the t. I's dotted, t's crossed, and everything in perfect order.

    The defendant should not have stiffed the cabby, drunk or not. As a rideshare driver passengers like this ruin the experience and we put up with alot of stuff. Though the cabby should not have taken the guy's phone, I feel he was entitled to atleast the missed fares from the festival and some add'l money for having to sue the guy. $350 would have been a more fair judgement.

      "Simply driving people around"? Um... Ever have a gun put against your head and demanding money? As a cabbie, I have. I am bothered that you think driving a taxi is simple. I lost two friends in less than a year by passengers with guns. I was stiffed on countless fares. And then there's the traffic. You don't think that is working hard?

    • @OverbossZero
      @OverbossZero 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      I disagree. This is hard work. Plus we all know that eventually, something's gonna happen in the back of that car that's gonna need fixing, and in the vehicle in general with the usual car issues; Things that will involve lots of money and a potential replacement of the entire vehicle.
      One of my Uber drivers had a broken handle in the back seat where I sit, and mentioned that a drunk was back there last night and broke it. While it still functioned on the outside, it struggled a bit on the inside.
      Some drunks can't hold their poison, so they vomit all over. Others require rides while sick with other illnesses, and thus are a hazard to the driver and any other passengers after.
      People may have to use the toilet and can't hold it in mid-trip, and pee themselves - or worse. Kids too. And pets, if they are pet-friendly.
      Then there are robbers, rapists, and the like. And this can be ANYWHERE, not just a large city like Vegas. Even in smaller towns, people have to be careful with who they pick up. And even then, if someone doesn't drive for someone, there could be worse issues brough up - issues that could get them fired - such as discrimination, even when the rider is being a health risk to others.
      I applaude those who CAN take on this task; I can't imagine being in a car with a drunk in the back seat, or two crazed hormones making out the whole way to their destination. This is not an easy job, just like being a bus driver isn't easy. And bus drivers generally have a larger vehicle, so it's somewhat "saving" should a wreck occur, but it's still not a "simple job".
