- Planning a trip to the capital city of Laos, Vientiane? Check out this video, where we show you our list of things to see and do in Vientiane during your stay.
Our first stop is a visit to the Arc de Triomphe of Laos, the famous Patuxai war monument. It was built to commemorate fallen soldiers who fought for Laos' independence from France. We also explore two night markets in Vientiane, tuck into some Lao street-food (which is similar to Thailand street-food) and feature our favorite cheap hotel in Vientiane city, Sailomyen hotel and cafe.
For our coffee lovers, we make a stop at Comma Coffee Reading Room; a comfortable cafe and co-working space in Vientiane, serving artisanal coffee and simple eats.
Lastly, we sample some local Lao Beer (Beer Lao) and indulge in a spicy hot pot ( at Su-Su Hotpot). We taste "Mala" for the first time - a spicy mouth numbing broth - alongside an array of condiments, sauces and side dishes.
