Thank you for reviewing this knife. I was torn between a couple of Dawson knives but your video put the Explorer Elite over the top!

Jimping on the guard is an awesome tactical feature. It's used on some SOG models. It provides redundancy of grip in reversed hammer - choked up position by providing traction with the the part of the hand opposite the thumb (from the little finger to the wrist). This is an excellent feature from a martial artist's perspective.

Another great video, Jake! That’s a great looking beast of a knife. I’ve never seen sheath retention done like that. Pretty ingenious.

Paul Schuette right? I wish more people would do the same thing, it works great!

Just ordered the same style knife by Dawson, but with G-10 scales and Magnacut steel. I think if the part you feel is a bit sharp becomes an issue you can take a small ball type hammer and tap at the sharp points to dull them…or take a file to them. Thanks. For the video.

The forefinger jimping (accompanied with the pommel hole) is meant to lend itself to spear tying. It also prevents slipping, when cutting meat or wet materials. Decent knife, but great review.

Beautiful knife. Whats the length of that blade? The website says 5.5", but your blade looks larger.

That little metal can opener is also to prevent your hand from sliding on to the blade and slicing your pointer finger off. That happened to me

Wish I could find good reviews of their other models on here as I really like their knives. I'll probably buy a Mohave 6 here soon actually

Too bad they changed the sheath to half leather pancake style. Taco style all kydex is the best imo

But is it worth the cost compared to blades half the price?
