I saw this show in Edmonton. It was mesmerizing. The stage was translucent and lit from underneath, so it would shimmer and change colors and patterns as the music changed. Even more amazing was the fact that Bryan had two gigantic braziers loaded with frankincense at either side of the stairs leading down toward the audience. These were lit and the entire venue was filled with the incredible, wafting scent of frankincense, which added yet another layer to the experience. Finally, the chubby little black lady in this clip singing backing vocals is Little Queenie of Little Queenie and the All White Negro Band. They were the opening act then she returned to provide backing vocals and did an amazing job of the high run on Avalon. This was simply epiphanic.
This is my favourite Bryan Ferry track and has been since it was first released. Can't help feeling Mick Karn (RIP) would have loved to play that bass line.
Absolutely. This song and album have that 'Santeria' voodoo feel to it. I'm sure it was by his design, no accident. Saw this concert at the Berkeley Greek Theater, California (USA).

The album is underrated. Even Bryan Ferry did not sufficiently appreciated it , because after this tour he rarely played songs from Bete Noire.
Never understood that. It's such a clever album. And the next one Taxi. And again never plays it. Well at least the singles from the LP.
