I am a Scottish Christian. I have heard this song countless times, primarily at funerals with a piper playing. However, this is the best version I have ever heard, bar none. The range, the voice, the emotion, the power, but mainly the honesty. He’s Brazilian so the chances are that he too is a Christian. If so he must be so proud of this. I would have this as the Scottish national anthem if I had the power. A truly god given version.

Indeed he can! His father was a musician and gave him the harmonica he's playing and his mother sang opera. Took him a while to decide on entering the world of music which he admits and I'm grateful he did!
I love how raw & delicate he started the song even with the slight echo & with each verse exposing more talent & intensity. Dan Vasc has a God given talent that he has perfected into what it is today. He sang this song the way it was MEANT to be sung with such respect, emotion & with a POWERFUL impact. I FELT the presence of GOD!!! This is the absolute very BEST version of Amazing Grace that I've EVER heard in my ENTIRE life & I'm old (LOL). This video was released on Easter Sunday. I have read, in his bio. that he is Christian. The use of the harmonica gives the song a Celtic(Irish or Scottish) feel. I live in The Bronx, down the block from a beautiful Catholic Church. Sometimes we hear, at funerals, bagpipes playing this lovely Spiritual. I am a recovering alcoholic in AA. This song is our unofficial anthem (our program is SPIRITUAL NOT RELIGIOUS). "Grace" is a very important concept for us. Dan's cover is the BEST I have ever heard and I have been in recovery since I was 29 , I am now 62.

Mr Vasc respected the fact that this song was a very meaningful, historical piece written by John Newton who was integral to the ending of slavery by helping to change the laws. His life story was an amazing one, and it was wonderful to hear the original way it sounded with the great passion of hard metal rock. It really honored the life of John Newton in a way no one else has.

Dan is a chameleon when it comes to his voice. His voice goes from one end of the spectrum to the other and his song Choice goes from one side of the genre all the way to the other side of a genre. If you haven't checked out O Holy Night I think you would really enjoy that. He just dropped a metal version of My Heart Will Go On from titanic. It is very fulfilling. It hits on all the right buttons

He is classical training and iit I have the impression there is no understanding from you the element and range he is performing in. To react to any video we need to understand music and appreciate any talent and be able to hear key changes.
