The Ace buff could be insanely good in some rooms, like fly swarms
Diamond ace, deep pockets, and counterfeit penny with a fly swarm, could be really profitable, maybe even jera the profits before collecting.
Or maybe those guys in the mausoleum that split themselves

With the new Deep pockets, you could theoretically unlock the Keeper on your first Greed run.
Only thing is you need keeper to unlock it

@@the_spider_7773 most fixes only affect Hard Mode though. Greed mode is still easily breakable

The devil effects now being stackable will make Judas so broken in Greed mode like Lillith

just tried it with the dev console and it doesn't work, HOWEVER wild card does mimic the same effect as jera! therefore, you can just use your jera rune on a wild card in a room with 2 wild cards and you'd get the same effect as blank card + jera in afterbirth+!
there's an item called clear rune which works with the runes instead now.
@@1_1bman yeah but you need 10 charges to use the jera + clear rune. Needs 2 batteries to dupe, so its possible but difficult to dupe
@@Vertical8 It's 12 charges to use clear rune with jera, and I _think_ as of repentance, little batteries only give you 6 charges for 12 charge items. Thus you need 2 batteries to charge it, plus another 2 batteries to duplicate into the consumed batteries, plus 1 more battery if you want a surplus so you can use your infinite charges on other rooms.
@@1_1bman or you can clear some of the floor and just need 2 or even 1 batery if you had it already charged or double charged or use the "charge bum"

So, a lot of the changes here are basically Edmund going "Halt. You are having a bit too much fun.", I see.
Edmund doesnt like game breaks; He always seen isaac as a game which requires thinking and skill to go far and do good, and wanted to make it harder to break the game so you have to win by pure skill. He also said he'd like it so that when you do win a run its by the skin of your teeth and you feel like you barely made it.In an AMA, he said his favourite characters are Tainted Lost and Tainted Jacob; Basically the hardest characters, and most unfair, in the whole game rn lmao.

Bruh it was broken as hell, like, really broken. It needed a nerf heavily; One item shouldnt be able to be such a hard carry.

@@GameGuy667 The nerfs balance the game out and it's fun that it's balanced. But Afterbirth+ was really fun in all of it brokeness too.
I agree that blank card needed to be nerfed for repentance but I disagree on it being needed to be nerfed in general.
Repentance and Afterbirth+ are wildly different to the point where they feel like different games.
I think some of the times they picked really suck. Like some I get, but the heirophant taking TWELVE rooms to recharge is absurd. All that for two soul hearts. I guess it’s equivalent to two books of Revelation but considering it’s harder to get the blank card combo I’d hope it had some sort of advantage

Can confirm the new Ace cards are INSANELY useful. With Blank Card, they have a cooldown of 6 rooms, so that's basically a 6 room cooldown room nuke

I feel like some of these nerfs were kind of unnecessary. Blank Card/Jera was extremely powerful, yes, but that was sort of the fun of the game and you weren't forced to abuse it. Removing "game breaking" synergies seems like it's only taking the fun away from those that used them rather than balancing it out for everyone.
I feel like you're missing the point. People weren't forced to use them yeah but many people used them to do all their unlocks and Ed wants people to work for what they have. Gamebreaks were so easy to do that it undermined the efforts of people that didn't abuse them. In short I agree with the nerf
Part of the reason why they did stuff like this is because it was so ridiculously easy to pull off things like that, that you could break the game in nearly every run. Heck, previously, ONE trip to the devil room was often all it took to become an OP mess, and with no risk, thought, or challenge involved. The entire game was like that. I love Isaac, but holy heck the game was WAY too easy when it could be broken by just looking at it too hard. Frankly it had gotten kinda boring. Besides: It's not like you cant still have wild builds. It's just that, like pretty much every other game in this genre, you actually have to work for them now, and you'll have to step out of your comfort zone in terms of item use (AKA, cant just use the same few busted items over and over anymore) and try to make the best use of what the RNG decides to spawn (again, like every other game in the genre). The game is a roguelike at heart. It was never meant to be easy, and it DEFINITELY wasnt meant to just outright hand you constant victories like it was doing before.
To be honest I'm rather surprised the devs never made an attempt at ACTUALLY balancing things BEFORE now. Having the game be stupidly easy and mindless all the time is just... totally not Edmund's style. I'm glad he and his team decided to truly dive in and make some real changes.

you have clear rune now. yes you need 3 charges in one room to abuse jera, but you still can break the game. blank card was too broken since it had several well known abuses. you can still use it with two of diamonds + restock. you won't be able to do it infinitely though, since the price of batteries will go up by 1 with each purchase, but it's still a break.

@@Drkekw I have no idea which rooms I accounted for soul and rotten, but he will always drop red hearts in the secrtet room with 8 red hearts (also I meant that he'll drop cards, pills, sbiders and NOT ALWAYS black hearts

To unlock the deep pockets you need the keeper, the character unlocked by filing the greed machine all the way up to max

If you use Wild Card after using Vurp on a certain pill, does it vurp the pill that was vurped, or another copy of Vurp, as it was technically the last pill used?
I wonder how many streamers and youtubers a year later will go back to afterbirth and not have the new dlc installed.
@DuoTheDraconic a lot of things have been ruined in repentance, they did buff shops, now a maxed out shop has a 50% chance of appearing and 25% chance of a shop having a reroll machine.
But still, I will stay in afterbirth + till mods are available in repentance and that there is a mod that unnerfs everything that was nerfed.
@@GuidingLightAngel everything? there's definiterly some nerfs that should stay (ie no dark bum double play) AND changes where a revert would be understandable (blank card nerf)
@@damplamp the game is already hard enough, and you need 12 charges for hierophant card, the game is already extremely hard enough and now you need 12 charges for the 2 soul hearts? Blank card went from a potential run saver to a occasional item you pick up.
Again I don't like this update one bit, it did a lot of things right, but it also did a lot of things wrong

Oh, so you can still blank card jera only now you need to use it once and let the wild card use its effect for you. But keep your hands from using any consumables

It's a lot more stable than afterbirth+ actually and doesn't lag at all on my system, although ab+ did.

@@haydes1285 you can download a 100% completed save file of AB+ if you wish so; however, Edmund suggested starting over again is the best way to play the dlc.

Just so yu know anything that let's you carry 2 cards like starter deck or others can make you "break" the game with 2 wild cards duping a ton of items like dead cat or any other item you want
