Since 1 year, this song has wery special place in my heart...
Meadows of Heaven has always been one of my favorite songs by Nightwish.
I would also recommend listening to 'Eva' by Nightwish also sung by Anette, from the album 'Dark Passion Play'
The ending gives me the goosebumps. Every single time. ❤️

Beautiful choice of music. There is really nothing wrong with Anette's singing - she only had the ill luck, to be crushed under the weight of two super heavy vocal mammoths...
Agreed....I like her vocals on the studio version of 7 Days to the Wolves also, it's my opinion that all 3 lead vocalists had something to contribute to the band and all have certain songs that they are just better at than the others in my opinion.
@@rogerballoujr.6244 Yes, in my opinion it is all right that every NW singer has at least some song(s) that fits her well, she shines at it and it stayed all the way trully hers, not attempted to be reproduced by another one...
Anette may not be an operatic Prodigy like Tarja, or a live-performance powerhouse like Floor... but what she is, is an incredibly bright and soulful personality that brought a youthfulness into the sound of nightwish when they needed it the most. I absolutely love all 3 singers, and am grateful for what they brought to the band in their time

Maybe the best Anette song and so awesome music again by Tuomas. Yes I liked the guitar solo too. The story here is also so meaningful and brings up memories like you say.
Anette in the studio is fine, and this is my favourite song from her. She simply couldn't perform live.
The live performance itself wasn't the problem. She mostly did great job with "her own" songs (especially songs from Imaginaerum when she was already in the band when those songs were composed) and songs from the first Nightwish albums. But the problem was that when the songs from newer albums from Tarja's era was in a wrong pitch for her and then they already had so many backround orchestrations in their music, it was impossible to change them more suitable for her in live situation.
That's why it kinda bugs me to read comments of her poor live performances because it was completely unfair situation in the first place to even try to fill Tarja's shoes, but ofcourse they wanted to perform those older songs too and we shouldn't blame them for trying.
@@1981juhis The beauty about the subjectivity of music is that we can all have our own opinions, which are as equally as valid as each others. My response to your comment about Anette's appointment, is that the band would have known that Tarja's songs needed to be performed live in concert. Why then select her when she plainly didn't have the range? It's not as if they were short on applicants to audition is it! Much of Dark Passion Play had already been written (and demoed by Marko) when she joined the band, so Imaginaerum is the only album that can truly be said to have been tailored to her voice. For me, Anette had this awful habit of adding notes into her phrasing when she sang live, and it is this that has formulated my own opinion of her performance work. Compare her version of 'Poet & The Pendulum' with Floor's, and you will see what I mean. I didn't know the band until 2018, so I missed all of the savagery surrounding Tarja's departure. My opinion is borne out purely with my own ears, and my experience as a professional singer. I meant no offence to you Juhis. Take care.
Good to see an earlier one that is so rarely given an airing. Anette could do the stuff in some songs.
Love the all in ending. Sadly no good live version. Anette at her best in this studio version.
"Slow Love Slow" Montreux Jazz Festival 2002 is one of the best Anette live performances. Studio version is very good as well.
By the way, Risto, have you listened to the Gregorian version?
She's done a few great live versions on her own, since Tuomas gave her permission to sing her nightwish fan favorites at her concerts

time is interesting as when you are a kid a year seems like forever but the older you get the shorter a year takes! I think that is partly why as an adult you have a much harder time "giving up" your kids than the kids have of leaving home. For them those 17 yrs+ seem like forever but for us as adults it seems to fly on by...
Emppu always finds a way to play what the song needs and in some ways his versatility like Floor's is his biggest strength. If you listen to a heap of his solos they are all different styles about the only thing you might say is that they are mostly melodic and very much continue the story of the song. Everyone else has changed in the band now other than Emppu and Tuomas and to me they are the core of the sound of Nightwish.
A beautiful song and one of Annette's better ones. She always sounds good in the studio as she has a pleasant voice. And written within her range. Against many singers she would be good. Pity she has Floor and Tarja to compete with. Don't know who the other female singer is.
One of the few songs I like from Anette. In my opinion, this is the only song she sang good.
Anette has some good songs but I bought the Dark Passion Play CD and she butchers The Poet and The Pendulum. Most of it is sung an octave lower than Floor sang it. Most of the high parts were done by the choir. I was very disappointed.
The original recording was with Anette so Floor is the one who deviated. It sounds good to you but that still is your opinion. Floor chooses to sing the parts that were originally sung by a boy soprano herself. That just doesn't sound good to me because I get why Tuomas chose a boy soprano to sing those parts. And Floor's version of the ending (mother and father part) sounds way too agitated to me. Anette captured the innocence of the "mother and father" perfectly. Floor does sing it better live than Anette but at least to me the original version of that song is a timeless classic.
@@timestimesx7535 totally agree about Mother and Father section of Poet; Anette is totally on point and pitches the part perfectly. I do love Floor singing and even went to see Tarja in concert last week, but Floor just does not have the gentle soothing tone Anette has. Only 2 Nightwish tracks can drive me to tears, Mother and Father section and this absolute gem from Anette, especially when she sings the line, "Dreambound for Life
