As someone who has a very broken family and no traditions whatsoever, it was so beautiful to see you be thankful of the lovely moments you do get to spend with loved ones. A lot of people take having a big, happy family for granted, and forget there's people out there who could only wish for it. I hope you had a merry Christmas, and I wish you a very happy new year (this goes out to all btw, let's spread some love)
@aph bullshit the fact you can acknowledge your jealousy and that you're not grateful for everything you have in life means you're more mature than you think. There's a lot of people who refuse to accept that they're jealous. You also realise that you're able to do great things, which is absolutely true! We might have to fight harder for the same thing, but that makes us more experienced in life, which will come in handy as we grow up.
I hope things get better... Life can always get better, sometimes people who are not part of your biological family can become your family, which loves you and sees you as an importang part of it. Also, there are friends, real ones, with whom you can spend so many beautiful days, talking, having fun, relaxing... So many things. Life isn't perfect, many things can make it harder... For me , it's my difficulty with making friendships and keeping them... The problem is I often feel really anxious while surrounded by a lot of people, and I don't easily make real friendship, I always end up being that wierd, clumsy girl in class, but not much more... I often feel anxious about things... I am happy to have good family, but life's still not perfect. It can't be. But it can get better. So never lose hope, you never know what's gonna happen, who you're gonna meet...People who will become your friends, but also, some could become your family.
I totally agree with what you said the first part of the video, it’s sad how people forget it’s not about the presents and I’m glad you shared that message some people need to hear it, anyway you’re absolutely amazing and such a great influence
It's great to see someone of our age make one of these videos, not only appreciating their presents but for taking the actual meaning of Christmas into consideration- celebrating with loved ones. You seem like such a genuine girl and I wish you and your channel all the best for 2020.
You went above and beyond when you mentioned how grateful you are for, not just the presents, but the times spent with loved ones. You are so, so wise beyond your years and it’s so lovely to see someone really understand the true meaning of Christmas. Keep being you, Ruby!
'Twas a Nightshift Before Christmas is soooo great - I was given it for Christmas and had finished it by Boxing Day morning as I couldn't put it down!!
Tip for the plastic ruby....... I keep little bags and use them when I pack for holiday for things like lip balm, medication on a day trip, ear rings or hair clips, eyeshadow, pencil sharpener etc. U can use them many times. Another thing I save is the egg from my nephews kinder eggs- I keep electric bands and paper lips in my study bag in them
If its a personal choice, then its all right. However, if it is due to evonomical situations then its not fine at all and you Government should take action. I am from Argentina and as a consequence of the hateful previous government we had- I am talking about Macri and his friends, almost sixty per cent of the children are under the line of poverty. Not surprisingly, most media was publishing titles about how the importance of what curse was served or what gifts were given was very low. Of course, its such a scheme to justify the social effects of the neoliberal policies applied by Macri. The biggest newspaper, whose owners are also the biggest bussinesspeople of the country and owned half the country and manipula the justice, has even published that argentines have a passion for eating rubbish, totally disgusting!!!
This Christmas was different than usual because someone my family was close to died on December 21 after a long and hard fight with cancer. She was loved by the whole community so everything has had a different touch to it as people reconcile it in their different ways. The silver lining though is that we can still celebrate the birth of Jesus and know that what we're commemorating means that she's not gone forever :') this year that is what I'm most thankful for.
Ruby could you do a video on how to get back into the habit of studying after the holidays? I’ve got my mock exams coming up at the end of January but I just can’t motivate myself to start revising
You have to start it slowly. Start with your favourite subject, and then it gets easier to get yourself to revise everything else :) I'm currently going in order from my favourite university modules to my least favourite, because the imminence will also encourage me to revise the ones I don't enjoy as much later on
I love how you talked about the most important aspect of Christmas, the spiritual part over the material. Material presents are only temporary; thankyou for reminding us of something so important, that emotions and memories have much higher value and durability than presents xx💙
i remember watching ruby's 2015 'what i got for christmas' the other day and watching this one, 4 years down the line, makes me feel like a proud mother watching her daughter grow up i can't-
I got nothing but I always recall what is with me right now.. I thank God for giving me a good body, I have ear , heart ,eyes everything. I have a shelter to live, I have a caring family and neighbour's.. I have friends and relatives to guide me.. I have a mobile phone to see videos of ruby!!! I can learn new things.. I have everything a person deserves for then why need a gift.. Love you ruby and happy new year....
In last Ruby's video I commented "what I need for christmas is only books and good grades" Now I have an A in tax course and 2 new books Santa come to youtube I think...
Have a lovely, well deserved Christmas Ruby! You inspire many of us to do our best and be kind to each other. Make sure to rest and relax over the break and also spend time with family before you go back to Exeter! Lots of love, Lucy x
I will appreciate a cheap but thoughtful gift waaaay more than an expensive gift that is bought just to be bought. Gifts don't have to be expensive or material, they just have to be thought through, to show others that you care. (Of course, you can show that you care about your loved ones in many other ways, but I am talking just about gifts here)
Two thing I notice are very beautiful: how grateful you seem in all your presents-showing videos and how much your family ones you and your tastes and wants you to have pretty things. You exude this rare kind of kindness and positive vibes that whoever that thinks that you are entitled or spoiled because you got a lot of presents, it’s really just their problem, in my opinion. Yes, you are lucky to have a family like the one you have, sure, but you take good care of your relationships have a great attitude towards receiving presents and being thankful for them. I learn a lot from you, Ruby, your videos are one of the best things out there.
I was exactly the same up until a few years ago! I never bought into trends, but because I didn't want to seem normal, I wanted to stick out, even if I loved that item of clothing or that popular song. We should all just do and wear what we want :))
I absolutely loved the little "twist" on this year's video. It melted my heart. I really think I learned a lot about the true meaning of Christmas and actually properly realised that Christmas has nothing to do with gifts, but with kindness and showing gratitude towards the people we love. Thank you for teaching me that not just through this particular video, but through all of your Christmas-themed videos!
How thoughtful Martha is , and clearly she picked all the presents just for your taste 😍. I wish we could see what Martha got for Christmas and what you bought for her ☺️🌸
She could also do a 'What I gave for Christmas' video and start a new trend! But I really liked what she shared about the things she enjoys about the season and the things she enjoys doing with her friends and family, as well. Because, beyond the presents, she focused on her entire Christmas experience! Maybe she could do a vlogmas focusing on the things she enjoys the most about the Christmas season, Christmas eve and Christmas day. Oh I do hope @RubyGranger sees this post. I'd like to know what she thinks of these ideas. If you do happen to read this Ruby, I loved the video and its message, not to mention your lovely thoughtful gifts. You are truly loved and it shows. Your family seem so caring and supportive. I hope you all had an amazing time together. Merry Christmas!
I admire you so much because of how grateful you are for not only your material gifts but also the time you spent with people, which is something that you don't see often in these types of videos. I hope you had a very merry Christmas!
wow i would get this amount of presents in maybe ten years haha but I'm still thankful for what i got and I'm happy for you Ruby, you're so kind and you deserve it all 💕
10:28 - Very Anne Boleyn! Lovely. Also, I’m so glad to see someone so influential to younger people spreading the message of (what I guess could be referred to as) ‘spiritual’ wealth over material wealth. The importance of spending quality time with friends and family, and really being present in those precious moments, can all too easily be overlooked in a time where consumerist culture is rampant, and hardly anyone has the time to stop and appreciate the things that no-one can ever put a monetary price on. (Though, like many people - and magpies - I do so love many of the things one CAN put a price on 😅) Wishing everyone a very happy and fulfilling new year!
I actually had nothing to open today because I’d decided to “spend” my Christmas present quota on concert tickets and a trip to Copenhagen, which meant that I got to spend a ton of time with my mom, having fun, which was way better than anything physical!
You are right!! We might be excited about the presents but that's not the real purpose of celebrating it. It matters mostly to give presents, to make someone happier, offer love without waiting to offer to you something too
I love what you said about the meaning of Christmas. It is so true. As I‘ve gotten older I’ve realized this and it has made my Christmases so much more enjoyable in a long term way. I hope yours was incredible! I love your videos!
I received ‘Twas the Nightshift Before Christmas’ and I’ve already finished it. I loved every page! Plus my boyfriend also bought me your red study planner and your kindness journal which I’ve already began using! Hope you had a lovely Christmas Ruby! X
Your family is really lovely. From your presents, we can tell how much effort they truly put in to find thoughtful presents. Your dad calling the stall shows how much he loves his kids
Envy you my family doesn't know what to buy for me, my parents always ask me to pick presents by myself. Like, I know it's still nice that they buy those things to me, but I'd love if they put effort in thinking what I might like.
@Crows - B4 - Hoes I did, thank you. Of course that's the most important thing. I hope you'll meet amazing people in your life, who you could call family. Have a happy New Year (cos it's too late for Christmas wishes)
Urszula Mańk i completely understand you! Personally I think it’s about the meaning! When my parents ask me to pick things I always feel like they don’t know me?! Which probably is stupid! But I get what you were saying
Honestly, watching your videos Ruby have inspired me to reclaim my bookish nature and enjoy it. I always pushed it away because my mom always loved it and honestly being a bratty child, I didn't want to be like my mom. As I've matured and gotten older I've realized life is too short to be caught up in childish attitudes like that. If I love something, than I should love it with all my heart and use it to become closer to my mom and enjoy the things that used to make me so much happier. Not only that but peer pressure from friends liking such different things and college schooling caused me to be so disinterested for such a long time. Thank you Ruby! 💛
im so happy you had such a wonderful Christmas!❤mine was not the best one but watching people who had a good time during the holidays and also show gratitude makes me feel so happy💕
I'm currently in a different country than my family and it was the first time to be apart for Christmas. I obviously didn't get any presents but I still had an absolutely magical day. My host family (who don't celebrate Christmas) and I went to clean up a shrine and I think that just was the most perfect thing to do on Christmas day. Anyways, I love watching Ruby"s version of the "what i got" because she's always so grateful and it just makes me smile.
With my family (dad, mum, sister, godmother and cousin) we play Secret Santa, so we only get 1 gift which must be around USD $10-15, but no more than that. No pressure and stress at all for myself and my family. It's the best.
Even if I don't believe and celebrate Christmas because I am a Muslim, Ruby Granger, you are a beautiful soul. Please stay that way and never let anyone swerve you away from goodness.
Tia Trubkova Well not all people who celebrate Christmas are religious so to some people it is more about the family. My friends and I always tell each other merry Christmas even though not all of us are Christian. To some people it’s a celebration of Christ but not to all people. However what it should be to all people who choose to celebrate it is spending time with family or people they consider family.
Hi Ruby, merry Christmas! Just a heads up if you didn’t know- your lush polar bear is a bubble bar and is used differently to bath bombs (you run them under the tap). Your orange tablet with cinnamon and orange is a bath melt. I hope I’m not coming across as rude :)
@@kazuo9005 Some sensitive people would take this the wrong way. They might interperate it as being told how to run their life by a stranger. Ofc Ruby is not like this however some members of the public may be :)
This was such a lovely video, specially the beginning ♡ And there's something about your "what I got for Christmas" that I always love, your family seems to know you so well and always give you really thoughtful and "personalized" presents :') ☃️❣
the soap on a string is actually a bath oil tablet! break it up and pop a little bit in your bath and it'll melt in. The bath bomb is actually a bubble bar too so break a little bit off and hold it under the tap as your bath is running and it'll make bubbles!! Enjoy x
I’ve come to realise over the past few years that receiving is not what I like about gifts. It makes me quite uncomfortable really. I LOVE giving presents, and I will give presents without an excuse. The way people light up when they see a present for them that really speaks to them is like drugs. My favourite parts of Christmas are Family, Food and Walks!
I love Christmas. It’s one of the few times my closest family members get together and it’s always fun. This year my cousins and I decided to mix things up and play our game of hide and seek outside which was a something. Even though I know it might not be the same for others (including some of my own pretty religious family) what I find most important about Christmas is spending time with my family and playing with my cousins. That’s what Christmas is about for me but of course it’s different for everyone.
I get so jealous when i see videos like this. Not for the presents (okay maybe a little bc they are awesome) but more for the family things or when you say things like: "my mom saw this and thought of me". And that your dad goes through so much trouble just to make you happy. You deserve it though i am happy for you Ruby :)
If my family would have gotten me clothes or shoes, it would have been a miss, because they don’t know my tastes and I am super complicated 🙈 instead I got chocolate 😁
Chloe G. I got some good clothes but its normally the same for me. Well they think I’m complicated with tastes till they realize I’ll pretty much wear anything Minecraft Harry Potter or with stripes on it.
I gave myself a vanilla bodyshop natural perfume (I dont have family), and struggled to justify a second gift (a HP puzzle by new york co which is environ conscious as recycled content) which I didnt end up getting myself. I love that you can receive with gratitude and self-worth - its healthy. I love that you have a environmental and vegan focus at Christmas, but still cherish and value that the time means something to you and is worth celebrating ❤️
I normally never post comments on youtube, so I'm feeling kind of weird writing this, but I wanted to tell you that I've just discovered your channel and I just love the way you express yourself and your emotions and your excitement for life, which I have been lacking lately. I feel happier after watching one of your videos! :)
Hey Ruby, big thanks to you. I've repeated three classes in the past because I've always had a lot of problems in my life. You're the only Study TH-camr who keeps motivating me. You are such a kind and sympathetic person. Thank you. I wish you a great start into the new year. @all Keep going! Best wishes from germany
I love your gift video's because you have very similar taste to me with the vintage, the clothes etc. (apart from the dresses etc. obviously 😂) so when I watch your gift video's it gives me ideas of what I would like for celebrations and holidays like Christmas and Birthdays, so please, keep the gift video's coming 😊
watching this in 2020 as i felt the need for some festive ruby content. it’s sad to hear your main present was that concert in may! i can only imagine that didn’t go ahead! hope it got rescheduled
Hi Ruby! I just wanted to quickly let you know you should check out what brand is the bamboo cup! I wanted to buy one for my mom, but then came across quite a lot articles and then even a warnings from Ministry of Health of my country and from EU, that a lot of bamboo cups release huge amount of formaldehyde and they are being taken out of the market! I definitely don’t want to put down the beautiful present, I just want to let you and others know about this risk, because not a lot of people seem to know about this 🙈
Amazing message Ruby. I totally agree about the message of Christmas, thank you for telling us what you got for Christmas! For me, Christmas is all about Jesus 🥰
Hey Ruby, the sentiment about greeting strangers with kind words and good wishes during this time of year is a really sweet one. I just wanted to mention that as someone who is Jewish and doesn't celebrate Christmas, I always *really* appreciate a "Happy Holidays" from a stranger instead of a "Merry Christmas". I know they mean well, but the blanket assumption that everyone celebrates the same thing has often made me feel invisible, and there's a certain point every year where it starts to feel uncomfortably close to forced assimilation. Keep spreading your kindness, but it might make a difference to members of minority groups if you leave room in the greeting for identities other than Christian / secular Christian ones.
tired kettle this is a really good point and thank you so much for commenting this. I do use Happy Christmas as a blanket greeting, but you’re right to say that I shouldn’t. I will definitely keep this in mind next year :) Also, HAPPY HOLIDAYS x
Sofa Ⓥ I don’t even know what’s trending. I used to not follow trending stuff cause I didn’t feel I was cool enough but now it’s mostly because I don’t care enough.

Love the fact that you started with non material things! SO lovely xx
Really really nice touch talking about things that weren’t material. Glad you had a lovely Christmas x
The biggest thing people are missing about Christmas is that it’s not just a holiday you spend with family blah blah it’s a celebration of Christ.
Tia Trubkova
Well not all people who celebrate Christmas are religious so to some people it is more about the family.
@Turkey Vlogah lol
Why on Earth would that be rude?
Tkb snowflakes are scared
@@kazuo9005 Some sensitive people would take this the wrong way. They might interperate it as being told how to run their life by a stranger. Ofc Ruby is not like this however some members of the public may be
:)
This was such a lovely video, specially the beginning ♡ And there's something about your "what I got for Christmas" that I always love, your family seems to know you so well and always give you really thoughtful and "personalized" presents :') ☃️❣
I used to love Christmas when I was a kid, and now that am an adult I really don't care anymore. 🤷🏻♀️ That's life.
I love you and your channel, Ruby! Your positivity and productivity have such a great influence on your viewers!
Watching you makes me wanna be more calm and be a better person ..u seem very tranquil ..💙
I love these videos! Ruby I’d really enjoy a “what I gave for Christmas” version because I imagine your gifts would be so thoughtful and lovely 🥰
the soap on a string is actually a bath oil tablet! break it up and pop a little bit in your bath and it'll melt in. The bath bomb is actually a bubble bar too so break a little bit off and hold it under the tap as your bath is running and it'll make bubbles!! Enjoy x
Merry Christmas to you! Thank you for sharing your day with us. ❤️ You are precious.
I hope you had a fabulous Christmas Ruby!! ❤️
At the beginning my brain was like yes it's about fooood 😁. You are very right though Ruby , lovely video as always !
PROTECT THIS GIRL AT ALL COSTS
I do celebrate Christmas Ruby, it's my favorite holiday!!!!!
Also whatever you’re doing; you look amazing. That pinafore suits you so much
Christmas is my fave festival
I want to buy that wallet with constellations! I love it! And I love you Ruby Pumpkin!
I love your videos you give me so much motivation thank you🖤
i love your dad seems so genuine i love him aha
I love watching this every year 😆 that and the reading wrap-up video
I’ve been waiting for this!!!!
Also I ADORE the pinafore you’re wearing 😍
Ruby could you please do a video of preparing for 2020
Like how to get yourself organized for the year
The essentials that you need
I thought I was the only one that liked listening to movie sound tracks like big orchestral ones 😂
Thanks for reminding us about the true purpose of Christmas. Love the video ❤
Completely agree with u what u said at the start!!🥺
i love getting pajamas for christmas
I've got the gift of a flowing river, hot summer and a quiet life but.......I dunno why i think this peace will be shattered soon by external forces !
Your outfit is beautiful Ruby!! X
This hairstyle really suits you!! Your whole outfit is so cute oh my gosh
I will definitely keep this in mind next year :)
Also, HAPPY HOLIDAYS x
I'd give up every present for happiness and love this Christmas hasent been the best my sister has spent it in hospital
I'm so sorry about your sister. Hope she gets the treatment she needs to get better 💖 She's so lucky to have such a caring brother.
@@cvazquezs99 awe thank you very sweet of you to say she not to well right now 💜
I'm so happy for u Ruby. 🎄❤
Beautiful and thoughtful gifts.
Great to see that you got a handful of books! Hope you enjoy them 💞
Wow, it’s like a dream, you have a very perfect family and Chrissmas!
I went to the film music at the RAH in May this year! It was amazing - deffo would go again! Hope you have an amazing time when it comes!
Woow I relate to the not following a trend because you don't feel cool enough, but I didn't know that was why
Sofa Ⓥ
I don’t even know what’s trending. I used to not follow trending stuff cause I didn’t feel I was cool enough but now it’s mostly because I don’t care enough.
I literally love your channel so much!!!
