I'm born in a Hindu family in India and we don't really celebrate Christmas here but Diwali is the biggest festival here. My favourite tradition on Diwali is making Rangoli... it's an art made of dry colors on the floor and then lighting up the whole house with beautiful lamps (called diyas in Hindi) and candles
I can completely relate to that as an Indian and a Hindu. Every year, as Diwali approaches, my sister and i make rangoli in our corridor and our neighbors/ residents of the building come and appriciate our effort a lot and we also light up the entire house with divas and scented candles ❤ It is truly one of the most magical times of the year❤
My favourite Christmas tradition: I grew up in a large family with 6 children, and every year before Christmas, we'd pick a day where all of us together would cut paper stars/snowflakes of all shapes, sizes and colours. These would then be stuck on all the kitchen and living room windows. My mum taught all of us how to make them from a very young age and it's been so fun to see the designs becoming more beautiful and intricate every year. Once the stars are on the windows, it's like the christmas festivities can officially begin. Last year I spent a few months in England, and it was the first and only christmas I've ever been away from my family. I missed them so much. When I told my flatmates about this tradition that I love, a few of them wanted to learn how to do it. We then spent our day cutting stars together and sticking them on the windows, and it was like I had a little piece of home with me. It's a nice memory to have.
Oh my gosh this is such a lovely tradition -- especially to do with all of your siblings 🥺 and even lovelier that your flatmates did it with you when you were studying away from home! xxx
I am Polish, and the christmas tradition that I find the most special is leaving an empty seat with a set of dishes and cutlery at the Christmas Eve table. On that winter night families open their homes and hearts for an unexpected guest, travellers and the most lonely, so they can join the celebrations and feel the warmth of christmas spirit. The empty seat reminds us also of our loved ones who are no longer with us, but whose presence and love lives on in our hearts and, that magical night, seems almost tangible.
One tradition that I been doing since I was a child. Every Christmas Eve my siblings and their kids gather at my sister house. We watch The Christmas Story and bake cookies, cakes and pies. Great video Ruby.
My mum passed away 13 years ago and she always had a poinsettia in the house at Christmas so I decided to do the same last year and all the years to come to remember her and keep up her tradition. ❤️ Thanks for your great content Ruby. Merry Christmas.
I am from Ukraine and we have lots of interesting Christmas traditions🎄but I think my favourite one is that we all get together for a dinner that consists of 12 traditional dishes(the main one is kutia - a mix of boiled grains, honey, nuts, poppy seeds, dried fruits, and other toppings) and children go from house to house to sing Ukrainian carols, celebrating the holiday)
One tradition that my family and I have been always doing is that every January 1st, in the morning, we have churros and chocolate and watch the New Year's Viena concert. Then we eat a delicious and Christmasy meal with my two granys and we spend all afternoon playing cards together. I can't imagine a more wonderful way to start the year ❄
It sounds like the perfect start to the new year! I also hadn't heard of the New Year's Viena concert before - but I want to watch it now on your recommendation :)x
@@RubyGranger8 I know you would love it Ruby. The concert takes place in the Vienna Philharmonic and always includes pieces of the Strauss family. And it is not just the music! They broadcast it along with ballet performances in selected pieces. The dancers dance in different famous places of Austria. It is absolutely magical😍
My favorite tradition is decorating with the family! Every year we put on Christmas movies and music, have a hot cocoa bar, and spend a whole day decorating the house into a wonderland. We even have certain ornaments that have to go on the tree FIRST
one tradition that takes place every year WITHOUT fail is that my mum organises carol singing in our village. it happens every year regardless of the weather- and its always a great turn out. We stand around in the dark with mulled wine and mince pies, it always feels so festive and its such a great way for our village to come together. I would give the teas to my mum for Christmas as she has always done so much for our community, for as long as I can remember! (and she loves herbal tea, like me!) xxxx
Wow this is amazing! It sounds like such a truly special evening, Nancy. And absolutely magical 💕 I would love to send you the teas! Could you send me an email at rubygrangercontact@gmail.com with your address and also let me know what kinds of teas are your mum's favourites (fruity, mint, chocolate, floral etc.)? And also what her and your favourite desserts are? xxx
This is actually a custom we do every year in Greece: on Christmas eve morning and on new year's eve afternoon children go from door to door singing carols, and the houses' owners open the doors and give them some money and chocolates. These song are in fact announcing to the homeowner that on that noght Jesus will be born and the new year will begin respectively. We uses to go to so many doors, i would easily gather 150€ just from that😂😂
@@n.k.6801 Hey fellow Greek! haha Carols are lovely and really good for our pockets too ;) But even in times of huge economic crisis when we don't get much money, the hapiness that comes with this special announcement to the homeowners is more than enough to cheer us up!
One of my most cherished Christmas traditions is that me and my mother do is wake up every single December morning to have coffee ensemble before school/work and open one door of the advent calendar and just exist together in our own special bubble. This is truly one of my favourite things to go back to whenever my spirits are low. I miss my dearest maman right now, but I know she is always with me in my heart. xoxo Klara
One of my favourite Christmas traditions is having a sleepover in my sisters room with matching pjs watching Christmas films on Christmas Eve. I’m now 20 and my sister is 17 but we still carry on this tradition haha. I think it’s the nostalgia from trying to stay awake all night to hear Santa when we were younger, I still struggle to sleep from the excitement of seeing my family and having a huge Christmas dinner!
My favourite ritual is sitting out on our balcony in the morning with tea or coffee and reading the Bible. There's a wonderful view of the ocean from there and I love sitting and watching the sun reflecting off the water and hearing the birds. 🌊💕
My favorite Christmas tradition happens on Christmas Eve (In Germany that's when we open presents and celebrate). Instead of everyone ripping open their presents by themselves, we go round and someone gives a present to another person. And before the next one is opened, everyone watches what they receive. It makes it so much more special and meaningful and less rushed💕
My favourite Christmas tradition is going to a Carol service at my local church on Christmas Eve. It is the way that my Mum, Dad, Sister and I all get into the festive spirit after my Mum who is a Doctor has finished her last shift.
A ritual I love to do when I can is waking up early before the rest of my family, do some light stretching, then make myself a cup of coffee and sit in solitude while I enjoy it 🤎
One of my favourite Christmas traditions: My family will always make and decorate gingerbread for people (mainly friends or teachers) around this time of year to say thank you and to show our appreciation. I love this tradition because it marks the start of the Christmas season and is a way that I can show my gratitude for important people in my life. I've also come to appreciate this tradition more as I've grown older as it allows me to look back and observe how things have changed over time. For example, when we were younger, my brother and I used to only decorate the gingerbread, while now we make it from start to finish.
My favourite christmas tradition is a seemingly simple thing, but that holds much importance for many people. It's lighting the calendar light at breakfast each morning. This simple tradition brings me an immense feeling of peace and a quiet seasonal joy. Each morning it brings on a cavalcade of memories of December mornings past, it's a wonderful way to start the day in the darkest month of the year.
my family is part German, so of course my favorite Christmas tradition is that we open the presents on the evening of the 24th December instead of the morning of the 25th haha and we always watch the Disney version of a Christmas carol by dickens.
I'm celebrating Christmas being on night vigil in church for more than 10 years now, but most people who don't attend Christmas service light a candle in the window, so that it's visible from outside. And this tradition is my one of favourites. It gives me a feeling of unity and if it's snowing, feeling of coziness. I live candles and your candles are always so cozy to look at❤️
Lovely video 😍 I don't celebrate Christmas but one of my favourite tradition in our feast as an Egyptian Muslim is gathering with family and making kahk( which is kind of cookies filled with nuts and sprinkled with powdered sugar ) maybe 5 days before the actual feast 😄 and we always share it with our neighbours😍🥰 About my favourite ritual it is making ice coffee in the morning , from grinding the beans and pouring the water over the coffee and enjoying the aroma . The drizzle of gold honey to sweeten it , the splash of milk and the sound of the ice while stirring 😍😍😍🤤🤤
As a Spaniard who has been living in the UK for over a decade, my favourite tradition is baking a family size “roscón de reyes” on the 5th January ready to be eaten the following morning while we open the presents kindly brought to us by the Three Kings. Maintaining a multicultural household can be hard work, but it also has its perks 😊 👑 💝. It may be too early to say this, but… ¡feliz Navidad, Ruby! 🌟🎄🌟
My favourite Christmas tradition is actually a Christmas Eve tradition! I’ve been working at the same pub for the last seven Christmases, and every Christmas Eve I get a picture with everyone who is working that shift from the same place. I always post the picture (and the previous ones) on Facebook and tag as many of the people in them as I can. It’s a really nice way to remember the fun I’ve had there over the years, and especially poignant this year as it will be my last one before I start a new job.
My favourite Christmas tradition is that me and my mom each make a scrapbook for one another each year. We do a reflection of the year in it and share our gratitude for one another. It’s my favourite thing we do🥰
The tradition my best friend of 15 years and I have had since forever is to cosy up and read A Christmas Carol out loud to each other. It's so festive and of course that's one of my most favourite Christmas books ever. She moved away recently but we still plan on FaceTiming and trying to make it work since we love our tradition so much! Loved this video x
One Christmas tradition my family and I do every year is we go to evening mass on Christmas Eve. In my opinion, there in nothing better than being present to celebrate Christ’s birthday and give thanks for everything he has provided us. ❤️
One of my most beloved Christmas traditions is going to the light festival that my local park sets up. There are elves and Santa and mrs. Clause greeting and taking pictures with people. The lights at night are so magical and transport you to another world.
That sounds so so beautiful! I can imagine the atmosphere is so great as well if there are loads of kids in your area. I feel like you can almost feel belief in the air haha!
we don't celebrate Christmas in my country, I could even say that it's "dangerous" to even express your desire to celebrate it! I've always loved Christmas ever since I was a child, there's something magical about it, although I can't celebrate it here nor anywhere actually since it's all about celebrating it with your family and friends and neither of them would even consider giving it a chance, I find watching Christmas vlogs on TH-cam really enjoyable, my absolute favourites are yours Ruby! thank you so much for making us experience what it's like to feel the "Christmas coziness"!
@@jessie4188 I live in a really toxic country where every other religion aside from the one mentioned above by QueenJuliRose isn't welcome, I'm not a part of that religion anymore (for years now) but since I still live here I have to hide that fact and dress talk walk and practice however said religion tells women or it would be dangerous, so celebrating Christmas is just a dream of mine that would probably never come true. thank you so much for asking ❤️
one of my favourite Christmas traditions is that we have an advent calendar for the whole family but instead of chocolate, people pick out a little piece of paper that has a task for them to do on it. Sometimes they’re as silly as singing a Christmas song for everyone, but sometimes you can pick out ones that tell you to phone someone in the family who you might not have spoken to for a while, or making sure you have a nice conversation with anyone you meet that day who is working (e.g. the cashier). Just a really nice way to keep the Christmas spirit up and feel close to people in the lead up to Christmas 😊 love you videos Ruby!
My fav Christmas tradition: We don’t really celebrate Christmas in my family but my parents always take me and my lil sis out for a big holiday dinner. They will let us choose the restaurant and after eating out for dinner, they will either take us to our fav bookstore and buy us books or go home and watch a Christmas movie together whilst eating caramel popcorn 🍿. These are the times that I truly treasure and love. Merry Christmas to everyone who watches this video 🎄
I live in Germany but I'm half italian and in italy there is a tradition where you have a little manger at your home with baby jesus covered with a little blanket and on christmas eve - on his birth - you uncover him. I'm not religious but as a child this moment was so magical and stunning every time
A Christmas tradition that we have been doing every year so far is watching Christmas shows till midnight while drinking a hot drink. My country is not very into Christmas like other countries, but is my family's favorite holiday of the year and we would always take time off to spend time with each other! 😄🎄
I have a small family so every year my grandmother and I would write, rehearse and perform a two-woman Christmas play. We always had to think of ways of cutting out characters so it was just us two - our best by far was the one where she played Mary and I played the donkey and it was just us ‘journeying’ and complaining about the travel! 😂 it was always my favourite Christmas tradition as a child :)
in my family, we have a “christmas tree day” where we select a tree at our local farm, name it, decorate it, and order a takeaway! both me and my sister come back home from university and it’s a special day for the whole family. this year, it’s taking place this saturday! x
My favorite ritual is probably making latte with espresso that made with my moka pot, lighting a candle in my late grandma's candle holder and creating myself a magical atmosphere to write a little diary and then read a book. Sometimes I do a time lapse and read until my candle runs out, and I found really cool to videotape it. I prefer to do this ritual in my room on the garden floor, it is very pleasant to watch the chickens, cats and birds in the garden. This fall, I also planted tulips, hyacinths and daffodils bulbs. Planting bulbs was also one of the most important rituals of my last 1-2 months. And before I forget, I wanted to say that if you have uploaded a new video before this coffee-candle-book ritual I am describing, I will definitely watch you first, Ruby. You motivate me so much and also I feel like I'm doing this routine with a friend. much love x.
In Germany, we put the Christmas tree up on the 24th of December, which is also our day of gift-giving. Seeing the decorated tree for the first time is ever so special to me. Even more so since I became a mum. Xx
My favourite christmas tradition is: Every year my mom and I decorate the whole house for christmas with christams music on and a lot of dancing. Its such a cozy vibe and we both love it so much! I hope we can set this tradition foot for a long long time! Btw: I'm not englisch so sorry for all my mistakes in this comment hahahah.
My favorite ritual is before I start doing homework or studying, like the steps of getting ready for that. What I do is take a shower, then make some tea, organiza my room with music on my headphones, do my to do list and the start. I don't know why, but I love it, it just gets me in the right mindset but at the same time is a way to relax myself before getting started. Love your video Ruby 🖤
My favorite Christmas tradition is from when I was a child. My grandfather used to take my cousins and I to mass every year at church, after the service they would give all the children gingerbread cookies. I remember thinking that those were the best tasting gingerbread cookies ever! 🍪 The smell of ginger & spices at Christmas time always takes me back to those delicious church cookies✨
Those cookies sound delicious Julia! I've already chosen a winner for the giveaway, but I'd love to send you a Christmas card if you send me an email at rubygrangercontact@gmail.com ⭐
Being from a Mexican family, every year we have the tradition of making tamales with either my mom’s special hot chocolate recipe or a type of tea that my mom makes that has sweet canes, different kinds of fruit, and cinnamon. (We call the hot chocolate we make Champurado and the sweet tea is called Ponche where we’re from) Everything is always so delicious. Love your video Ruby, thank you.
My favourite cherished Christmas tradition comes from a time when my grandparents were still alive. Every Christmas Day after lunch, everyone would perform something for the rest of the family in the front room. Some people chose poems, some chose to sing a song and others chose to act out a scene. I always chose to do a gymnastics routine!🙈 We used to start thinking and planning in October and it really was the highlight of the day♥️Although I miss their faces now, it is still a Christmas ritual that continues to be lovingly passed down through my family. Happy Christmas Ruby to you and your family and thankyou for being awesome x
A ritual I enjoy happens (most) every Sunday morning! Sunday is the only day of the week where I have nowhere to be in the morning. I absolutely LOVE waking up, getting in a really good stretch in bed, making coffee or tea, and then I open the curtains in my living room to let in the morning light. Then I snuggle up on my couch with a cozy blanket and my drink and I read some poetry. It is such a simple thing but it makes me indescribably happy! It's especially perfect when it's snowing or raining outside because then it feels extra cozy.
I moved out of my parents home at the start of this year, and into a lovely townhouse with my partner. I’m enjoying beginning our own traditions- making a gingerbread house together, putting the tree up and shopping for outdoor lights to put up. So excited to make as many traditions for us as possible!
Want a tradition idea? Each year, you buy one wacky / interesting / hilarious tree decoration. In the bottom, you write your initials and the year. You compete to have the best worst decoration, something silly to look back on every year. Enjoy!
My Christmas tradition: I study in the UK so every time I go back to Poland (where I come from) I get hypnotized by the beautiful snow and dry, col weather. Me and my younger brother would go on a walk on a Christmas Morning as soon as we wake up and then organize a snowball fight in a small forest next to my house. I really love him and miss him and just cannot wait for our snowball fight this year. Stay safe Ruby, thank you for everything!
One tradition that I really love is going on a evening walk just before christmas dinner with my family. We’ve been doing this since I was a baby in a pushchair and till this day it’s an amazing tradition. And of course baking christmas cookies while burning some christmas scented candle is one of my favorites too ☺️ Loved this video Ruby, you’re one of my biggest inspirations during my studies at my university ☺️
@@RubyGranger8 Usually to our main "square" in our village where is a little wooden Bethlehem, big Christmas tree and it's just an amazing view and atmosphere. When we lived in a city, we always went to our local church for midnight mass. Burning Christmas cookies sometimes happens as well, but I don't enjoy that haha!
One of our favourite Christmas traditions is getting together as a family and recalling some of our special moments together in the year, sharing our happy and sad menories and praying for a better coming year.. cooking together with a glass of wine and Kenny Rogers singing in the background is something we cherish and ... Just being together and making the house a warm, cosy place, filled with positive energy 😌😉!
Some years I find it particular hard to get into a festive mood with uni finishing the semester and all kinds of activities taking place but two movies that always get me into the right swing are The Polar Express and Little Lord Fauntleroy (1980) which is based on a novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. You would probably enjoy these too :)
I love the ritual of lighting a few candles, fixing myself a cup of tea, and writing my small list of goals 5 times in my goal journal each night. I find it helps me to focus on certain things I've determined are important to me. For example, one of my goals is to be always be of service to the older people in the nursing home where I work. That way, if I start to get impatient with someone, I can visualize my list and remember what a blessing it is to serve them.
The one tradition I always look forward to during Christmas is when me, my family and my relatives together take a long walk out into the woods surrounding my grandparent's house. Whilst in the woods we grill marshmallows and eat some kind of outdoorsy food, catch up with each other and enjoy the time of being together. But the best part of the whole trip is when we all go searching for Christmas trees to bring home and decorate, it never fails to put me in a festive mood and make me really excited about the Christmas season.
A ritual I'm really loving is the process of making my morning bowl of porridge 😅 I find it very calming and satisfying, especially when I make the ritual more lengthy with extra ingredients like shredded coconut and cacao and toppings like nut butter and fruit - I think just the slow cooking of oats on a cold wintery morning is a small moment of calm I really appreciate! Thank you so much for your videos Ruby, truly my favourite escapist youtuber that makes me feel a whole lot calmer and cosier!💛💛
A ritual I enjoy is starting my morning with a cup of coffe along with a good book. I love it when it's so quiet that the only thing I hear is the birds chirping. A few moments of pure calm before my day begins :)
One of my favourite Christmas traditions is driving around my local town with my mum and sister and looking at all of the Christmas lights while listening to Frank Sinatra's Christmas songs. I live in a tiny village so we never normally see any of the grand lights lots of people put up which then makes the drive so special and festive✨
My absolute favorite Christmas tradition is going to our Christmas eve service and singing silent night while holding a little candle. There's just such a magical feeling in that moment. Really the whole service is amazing but nothing beats that moment
One of my favourite Christmas traditions: every year, me and my younger sister used to bake or buy some cookies and put them under the tree with a glass of milk. We then tried to stay awake and catch Santa, but we always fell asleep. We still do this every year with our youngest sister, even though we all know that our dad eats the cookies and drinks the milk. (He even suggested one year to put a glass with mulled wine under the tree). Christmas is my favourite time of the year!
My favourite Christmas tradition that my family does every year is that we each get an ornament that was symbolic of an event or accomplishment that year. For example, I got a small blue slug but ornament that looked just like my car the year I got my license. I also think I have that same tea kettle with the teacups ornament that I got one year, it looks just like yours on your tree! I enjoy watching your videos because I am a college student from the US who is also introverted. Starting my first semester this year has been challenging living away from home, but many of the videos you posted brought me encouragement that there is someone else who feels the same way. Love your videos :)
My favourite ritual is the process of waking up. I know that might sound a bit weird but I love rubbing my eyes looking around, relaxing and then jumping out of bed to start my day.
I love the ritual of winding down in the evening - doing my skin care, lighting a candle, making a hot water bottle and of course reading!! It helps me relax and get ready for sleep which I often struggle with - it is also time reserved just for myself so gives me some mental space after a busy or stressful day. I love your videos so much Ruby and you are such an inspiring person, both academically but also just for life in general xx
A Christmas tradition that I really cherish and enjoy is decorating our family tree. We put music on and dance around in our living room. We then top the tree with a star ⭐️. Precious moments and memories made. 🎄❄️⛄️⭐️
Christmas is my most favourite time of year so I have a lot of traditions, but if I had to choose one to be my favourite, it would be watching Home Alone 1 & 2 on Christmas Eve with my family! Having the fire lit and the Christmas tree lights on gives me the cosiest vibes, and knowing Christmas Day is just around the corner is the cherry on top
I’ve never celebrated Christmas, as it’s not a holiday in Russia. But I’ve celebrated New Year’s in the same fashion, gift giving and family time. One tradition we always had was to cook different dishes the day of New Year’s eve and have dinner later than usual. We then do fun activities such as karaoke or games and when it’s close to midnight we count down. Right after that the presents would “appear” under the tree and we would all get to open them up and share our happiness. Nowadays the presents lay under the tree for a few days before the grand evening. Always make me feel warm inside when I think of this time of the year ☺️
One tradition that my family has is being able to open one present on Christmas eve- just something small and thoughtful and then we have a party tea. Also loved seeing the pride flag in the garden, made me smile!
My favorite Christmas tradition is the late afternoon lunch we have with my grandparents. Afterwards, we open all the gifts my grandparents brought over :)
I'm not celebrating Christmas, but the excitement you're in at this time also cheers me up. I miss this feeling as there is still time for our eid 🥲💖I hope everyone has a nice holiday. Happy new year!
My favourite Christmas tradition is one from my culture - Czech. We celebrate Christmas on the 24 December, all sitting around the table together, no one is allowed to leave the table once sat down, as sitting together binds us with positive energy and blesses us to always be together no matter what. We also always prepare one extra plate, just in case anyone who is in need of an extra meal comes knocking on out door. Its a really lovely tradition :) my favourite ritual is definitely working with the cycles of the moon and during Full Moon I burn all of my fears written on a piece of paper to prepare myself for the New Moon and new beginnings :)
*Believe in yourself. You are braver than you think and more talented than you know, and capable of more than you can imagine. Keep putting in the work...*
a favorite holiday tradition we’ve kept up in my family, especially as the kids have gotten a bit older, is gathering all the extended family together, cooking up a large feast on christmas eve, and having some people stay up late to bake batches of cookies for santa and also for everyone to nibble on for the next few days 💓
Ik exactly how you feel about makeup! After doing some reading I realised how it's the patriarchy making women argue about trivial things like makeup to distract us from the really important issues like the pay gap and gender-based violence. So in short: rock your lip gloss! 😄
Makeup is anti feminist. It feeds off of womens insecurities and is the prime example of the way sexism and capitalism intersect and feed off of each other. Yes, there are bigger issues, but that doesn’t make makeup any less of an issue. I personally wear makeup occasionally, but I am still aware of the fact that it is sexist.
@@ss-qu4wx I completely agree about makeup being a prime example of sexism and capitalism intersecting. However, at the end of the day, I think the priority rn is to solve the systemic issues of the pay gap, gender-based violence, racial inequality, etc. And I don't think we should police other women over wearing makeup or not; arguing amongst ourselves isn't going to help us make systemic change. But am v happy to listen to other opinions!! I'm a straight white woman so I understand my view of things might be limited lol
@@ss-qu4wx Something being abused doesn't make it bad in its entirety. Yes, the makeup industry utilises insecurities for profit, but that isn't a problem with makeup itself. One can enjoy using it without feeding into the areas that are problematic.
My favorite Christmas tradition is that we eat a snack food/appetizer dinner on Christmas eve! My grandma used to prepare it all but now we all bring something yummy and snack and enjoy our time together! Love spending time with family with the childhood anticipation of Christmas day in the air ❤️
My fiance and I have a Christmas tradition that we started when we moved in together and bought our own Christmas tree! Each year we book December 1st as holiday from work, and we spend the day decorating the tree and watching Christmas movies together. Also on this day we buy one single Christmas decoration/bauble for the tree, we write the year on it and we hang it on the tree. Because all the decorations are totally different, our tree always looks a little bit ramshackle and messy, but we love it and now each year our Christmas tree is a reminder of all of those lovely days we took time to spend cosy time with each other!
My favourite Christmas tradition used to be going to the cinema with my family on Christmas eve but over the years this slowly stopped, so now I would have to say my favourite is spending time with family through out the day, listening to music with my brother and the way we all stand there handing gifts around from under the Christmas tree every year.
Hey Ruby I was just wondering how come you are home again seeing as you said in one of your videos that you were going to try and go home less often? Obviously, there is nothing wrong with going home and visiting your family if you can but you said you were extremely busy and overwhelmed with uni work as it was deadline season so surely it would make more sense to stay at your uni house? I don't mean any hate I'm just curious as to why you are home so often :)
@@orgcnas what are you on about? it could be due to exam stress and she might find it more comforting to be at home. she might have said she was going to TRY and stay at uni more often and i doubt she would have said it if she didn't mean it🙄
Hi Ruby can you address the Holocaust charity situation please? You never showed evidence for your giving the money back to "underfunded state schools" so would be v grateful if you cleared that up! Hate to think you took money from a charity and kept it 🥰
My favourite christmas tradition in Germany was lighting a candle on an advent-wreath with my family each advent Sunday. It is a tradition I missed so much since moving to the UK that i made an advent-wreath myself this year. Thank you for your videos, they are so comforting and motivating. 🎄
Hey Ruby❤I'm from South Africa and our family Christmas tradition is that every Christmas eve, my mum, sister and I will prepare Christmas desserts like trifle and mint tart with the sound of Christmas music sounding in the background. It is such a festive and exhilarating feeling in the air that can't really be felt at another time in the year, with all the music, family, smells, presents and decorations all around, something that really just feels magical🎄🌠💫
My favourite Christmas traditions is visiting my family that I don’t see very often and having lunch and dinner and play monopoly for hours until it gets dark I think it is very important to have traditions with your family as it gives you more joy when visiting them I also love to research about what other people celebrate or how differently people celebrate Christmas from the rest of us Have a wonderful Christmas to you all and have and wonderful morning or evening!
My favorite ritual is right before a dance performance. I dance everywhere in the world with the company I work for and it is important for me to have a ritual before a show to ground me wherever I go. I love doing my hair and make up to a certain playlist that gets me pumped up for the show. I also have a particular way of setting up my dressing room table, it is always the same no matter what theater I perform in. With that, I bring special cards and photos, memorabilia to add to my table to bring me luck. Right before the show I always make a point to go up to the stage and press my hands against the floor grounding my body and connecting my mind, body, and spirit. I thank the grounds on which I will dance and feel grateful for the life I live through this art form.
My favorite Christmas tradition is pretty simple, but means so much to me. I work as an EMT/Firefighter and every Christmas me and my dept drive around in our little country town and surprise the children whos parents can't afford gifts with presents and pictures with Santa and the firetruck. I absolutely LOVE Christmas, it's my favorite time of year with all the joy and kindness in the air 😄
One of my favourite family Christmas traditions is giving presents after lunch. It means in the morning we can go to church and spend time together and all help prepare Christmas Dinner together. Don't know, just like the idea that the presents can wait and that they're not the most important thing and just spending quality time with my family in the morning singing Christmas carols or playing board games is just lovely : )
My favourite Christmas tradition is going for a swim with my family and friends on Christmas morning. I've done it every year since I was six and it's always freezing as I'm from Ireland. However, one of my favourite feelings in the world is when we all sip on our hot chocolates afterwards by the sea and chat. We always bump into loads of unexpected people and everyone is in such a merry mood. We then all go back to the same friend's house every year as it's the closest to the swim spot. We have a a fry up with teas and coffees and it's an absolute joy!
As an Indian and a Hindu, Every year, as Diwali approaches, my sister and i make rangoli in our corridor and our neighbors/ residents of the building come and appriciate our effort a lot and we also light up the entire house with divas and scented candles ❤ It is truly one of the most magical times of the year❤
A tradition that i like during Christmas is decorating my room, setting the mood , just looking at the christmas decorations has something magical in it, and after that just making a good cup of tea (irish cream) and read a book or watch a movie.
My favorite Christmas tradition is baking Christmas cookies with my family because we make tins full for everyone we know and they each get accompanied with a hand drawn/painted Christmas card. Working all together on the cards and cookies with Christmas music playing in the background makes me feel like I am in father Christmas’s workshop.
My absolute favorite tradition is packaging presents together with my family! We take turns with my sisters and on break drink hot chocolate and watch christmas shows. It's so cozy and fun!
Every year, as Diwali approaches, my sister and i make rangoli in our corridor and our neighbors/ residents of the building come and appriciate our effort a lot and we also light up the entire house with divas and scented candles ❤
It is truly one of the most magical times of the year❤
My favourite Christmas tradition:
I grew up in a large family with 6 children, and every year before Christmas, we'd pick a day where all of us together would cut paper stars/snowflakes of all shapes, sizes and colours.
Oh my gosh this is such a lovely tradition -- especially to do with all of your siblings 🥺 and even lovelier that your flatmates did it with you when you were studying away from home! xxx
@@RubyGranger8It really is!☺️ If I ever have kids I'm going to keep this tradition for sure ✨❄️
You've inspired me and now, as a 36-year old woman, I'm going to go cover my windows in paper snowflakes :D
@@superkitten7560 Yeah, I might just do the same. It sounds lovely and it doesn't kill a tree or use plastic
@BuJennKu Yeah, they're still hanging on my windows!
Every Christmas eve, I set an alarm that plays “Joy to the World” at seven the next morning. It’s by far the best way to get up on Christmas morning!
One tradition that I been doing since I was a child. Every Christmas Eve my siblings and their kids gather at my sister house. We watch The Christmas Story and bake cookies, cakes and pies. Great video Ruby.
That sounds truly lovely 💕

My mum passed away 13 years ago and she always had a poinsettia in the house at Christmas so I decided to do the same last year and all the years to come to remember her and keep up her tradition. ❤️ Thanks for your great content Ruby. Merry Christmas.
I love this comment section so much, it makes me so happy to read about everyone’s Christmas traditions that are clearly very nostalgic 😍
I love this so much! Do you do this on Christmas day? And I'm also intrigued to try kutia now! :)
I love this concert! Been watching it every year with my family since I was a kid :-) it's really a lovely starting point to the year!
@@gingersal8052 I've also been watching it every year with my family! It's so warming that we all do the same thing ,every year from our homes
@@RubyGranger8 I’ve just emailed you! Thank you so much xxx
I love going around the house and switching on Christmas lights when it gets dark around 5:00 pm!
It is always so magical! :)x
A ritual I love to do when I can is waking up early before the rest of my family, do some light stretching, then make myself a cup of coffee and sit in solitude while I enjoy it 🤎
One of my favourite Christmas traditions:
My family will always make and decorate gingerbread for people (mainly friends or teachers) around this time of year to say thank you and to show our appreciation.
Each morning it brings on a cavalcade of memories of December mornings past, it's a wonderful way to start the day in the darkest month of the year.
my family is part German, so of course my favorite Christmas tradition is that we open the presents on the evening of the 24th December instead of the morning of the 25th haha and we always watch the Disney version of a Christmas carol by dickens.
i prefer the tv movie great expectations. what can i say i love douglas booth.
The Disney Christmas Carol is superior 🙈
I'm celebrating Christmas being on night vigil in church for more than 10 years now, but most people who don't attend Christmas service light a candle in the window, so that it's visible from outside. And this tradition is my one of favourites. It gives me a feeling of unity and if it's snowing, feeling of coziness. I live candles and your candles are always so cozy to look at❤️
Lovely video 😍 I don't celebrate Christmas but one of my favourite tradition in our feast as an Egyptian Muslim is gathering with family and making kahk( which is kind of cookies filled with nuts and sprinkled with powdered sugar ) maybe 5 days before the actual feast 😄 and we always share it with our neighbours😍🥰
About my favourite ritual it is making ice coffee in the morning , from grinding the beans and pouring the water over the coffee and enjoying the aroma .
Loved this video x
this is adorable aww
I love the ritual of having a bath! Running the hot water, lighting candles, using bubble bath, it’s the best!
we don't celebrate Christmas in my country, I could even say that it's "dangerous" to even express your desire to celebrate it!
May I ask why you can't celebrate Christmas? Only if you want to tell me! I don't want to go over your boundaries!

one of my favourite Christmas traditions is that we have an advent calendar for the whole family but instead of chocolate, people pick out a little piece of paper that has a task for them to do on it.
My fav Christmas tradition:
We don’t really celebrate Christmas in my family but my parents always take me and my lil sis out for a big holiday dinner.
😂 it was always my favourite Christmas tradition as a child :)
in my family, we have a “christmas tree day” where we select a tree at our local farm, name it, decorate it, and order a takeaway! both me and my sister come back home from university and it’s a special day for the whole family. this year, it’s taking place this saturday! x
i'm doing the exact same as u but on sunday. I'm getting a malaysian wbu?
Ah this is so cool! What kind of thing do you usually name them? :)x
@@RubyGranger8 last year, it was called robin because it was a fat and bushy little tree! :)

In Germany, we put the Christmas tree up on the 24th of December, which is also our day of gift-giving. Seeing the decorated tree for the first time is ever so special to me. Even more so since I became a mum. Xx
my favourite christmas tradition is rereading some of my favourite children‘s books that are set around christmas, always makes me feel so cozy 🥰
My favourite christmas tradition is:
Every year my mom and I decorate the whole house for christmas with christams music on and a lot of dancing. Its such a cozy vibe and we both love it so much! I hope we can set this tradition foot for a long long time!

@@noriander no Dutch:) but I love germany! We go often to germany on vacations and on my school I learn the language :)

The Queen of Books Thank you for sharing your family tradition I love to know the history of cultures have a lovely day & a Blessed Merry Christmas !
My favorite Christmas tradition:
Giving/receiving a book on Christmas Eve, and my family spends the evening reading 📖
Enjoy!
My Christmas tradition:
I study in the UK so every time I go back to Poland (where I come from) I get hypnotized by the beautiful snow and dry, col weather.
And of course baking christmas cookies while burning some christmas scented candle is one of my favorites too ☺️

Ruby's mum and dad are amazing, I love that they partake in the same type of stuff, I think they need their own channel lol
My favourite thing about Christmas is that I can think about and spend time with the people that are important to me! 🌻
I've never read or watched Little Lord Fauntleroy! Which movie adaptation do you watch? I must give it a go :)
@@RubyGranger8 The version from 1980 :) It is not necessarly a classical christmas story but a feel good movie for a cozy evening!
One of my favourite Christmas traditions is decorating the Christmas tree at the beginning of December 🎄
Love your videos :)
most comforting thing for one of the best months of year ✨🌈⛄

My favourite ritual is the process of waking up. I know that might sound a bit weird but I love rubbing my eyes looking around, relaxing and then jumping out of bed to start my day.
I love the ritual of winding down in the evening - doing my skin care, lighting a candle, making a hot water bottle and of course reading!! It helps me relax and get ready for sleep which I often struggle with - it is also time reserved just for myself so gives me some mental space after a busy or stressful day. I love your videos so much Ruby and you are such an inspiring person, both academically but also just for life in general xx
This sounds like the PERFECT routine and ritual :)

@@GoldieApril9688 You are very kind, thank you 💕 i don't celebrate because i am muslim. merry christmas to you 😊
My favourite Christmas tradition is one from my culture - Czech.
Keep putting in the work...*
a favorite holiday tradition we’ve kept up in my family, especially as the kids have gotten a bit older, is gathering all the extended family together, cooking up a large feast on christmas eve, and having some people stay up late to bake batches of cookies for santa and also for everyone to nibble on for the next few days 💓
i love the christmas and holiday vibes in your video it’s the best

Favourite Christmas tradition - going for walks with my dad and looking at Christmas lights!!
Ik exactly how you feel about makeup! After doing some reading I realised how it's the patriarchy making women argue about trivial things like makeup to distract us from the really important issues like the pay gap and gender-based violence.
So in short: rock your lip gloss! 😄
SO SO TRUE! It's such a minor thing and it's crazy that it gets so much attention when, you're right, there are huge systematic problems! x
Makeup is anti feminist. It feeds off of womens insecurities and is the prime example of the way sexism and capitalism intersect and feed off of each other. Yes, there are bigger issues, but that doesn’t make makeup any less of
an issue.
This video is so calming to watch, yet, it still motivates me to want to work and be productive thank you Ruby :)
as 5th harmoney once did say - you gotta go to work.
Thank you Ammie! Good luck with work! :)
@@RubyGranger8 Thank you sm ☺️!!
I love this christmassy video!!hope you and all have a wonderful christmas XX
u 2 grace x
Thank you Grace! You too :)
Unfortunately Ruby lies a lot.
@@orgcnas what are you on about? it could be due to exam stress and she might find it more comforting to be at home. she might have said she was going to TRY and stay at uni more often and i doubt she would have said it if she didn't mean it🙄
@@neve4565 okay bestie, defend your money grabbing queen 😍😍💅
One of my favorite traditions is meeting up with my small friend group and exchanging gifts. We laugh, eat, and have an amazing time with each other.
LGBT supporters celebrate Christmas too ? 🤨
My favourite Christmas traditions is visiting my family that I don’t see very often and having lunch and dinner and play monopoly for hours until it gets dark I think it is very important to have traditions with your family as it gives you more joy when visiting them I also love to research about what other people celebrate or how differently people celebrate Christmas from the rest of us
Have a wonderful Christmas to you all and have and wonderful morning or evening!
One of my favorite Christmas tradition is baking cookies with my little sisters!
As an Indian and a Hindu,
Every year, as Diwali approaches, my sister and i make rangoli in our corridor and our neighbors/ residents of the building come and appriciate our effort a lot and we also light up the entire house with divas and scented candles ❤
It is truly one of the most magical times of the year❤
A tradition that i like during Christmas is decorating my room, setting the mood , just looking at the christmas decorations has something magical in it, and after that just making a good cup of tea (irish cream) and read a book or watch a movie.
