    SUPREME COURT ... are there any RULES allowing for AFFORDABLE HOUSING and to PREVENT CORPORATE OWNERSHIP of HOMES that leads to HIGH RENTS 🤔

    Let us all agree on this: The present situation CANNOT continue; it victimizes everyone, including the environment. And two issues must be tied together or this human tragedy will continue; mental illness and drug addiction.

    SCOTUS also said the police have ZERO obligation to respond to calls on tents or any other crime. ZERO. Please note this.

    Wouldn't it be easier to LOWER THE RENTS??? IT'S not that complicated!! We rented out our home after researching surroundings rents -- we were charging low & had great tenants because they didn't want to lose their low rent home. Drug & mental health lacks --- government fails here!

      The homeless are either asylum seekers, mentally ill, or drug addicts. This would not address any of the most common reasons people become homeless here.

      Wouldn't it be easier if apartment owners let them live there for free?

    • @ShelliLK
      @ShelliLK 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The cities need to own the buildings. Right now I know that private owners are typically required to provide a percentage of low income units. Problem is they cannot get loans to buy or purchase either rental projections. The low income projections don’t support the build or purchase prices. Basically it’s not as simple as just lower the rents. If the property owners cannot take on enough income to pay their loans, it goes into foreclose and nobody has a place to live.

    The problem is that they are not addressing homelessness, but how the homeless live.
    The decision doesn't do anything to address the root cause of why people are forced to sleep on the streets.

      The main issue is 60% of Americans are 1 or 2 paychecks away from being homeless themselves. But Supreme Court justices make $230,000/year + benefits and private security to sit around and argue, so they could care less about us and our problems

  • @heatherheimbigner5855

    How do we punish people for sleeping outside if not by putting them in a jail inside that as taxpayers we also pay for and imagine the number of homeless overcrowding jails why can't we just start recognizing homelessness and fix it we have so many dilapidating buildings around this this state we need to make jobs and fix this

    Grants Pass homeless camping law wasn't abusive, they allow homeless to camp in designated parks but they must move to a new park every week, this distinction means they are camping and the park is NOT their home. Homeless advocates think making them move every week was criminalizing homelessness, it is not, they would only get a ticket if they wouldn't move, some resisted moving to test the law, they failed.

  • @CalvinJGreen
    @CalvinJGreen 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    We need laws preventing cities from enabling this problem. If the city is going to allow people to camp in public places, then strict standards for doing so. No drugs, no piles of trash, no disturbing residents, etc. We also need more public treatment for those with severe mental illness.
    That way the people just down on their luck with little support or who aren't compitent get help, not junkies and petty thives.

      blah blah blah... homelessness is big business in Seattle. Why would anyone want to reduce federal and state funding? You get the cheapest frontline workers you can scrape off the bottom of the barrel and grant yourself six figures a year for "administration". Who cares if a social worker isn't remotely qualified to deal with mental health? It's the minimum the law requires, that's enough, right? Who cares if the employees are bullies who rely on favoritism over need? No one's gonna give a sht about an elderly cripple, let them sleep on the shelter floor for a dozen years! You can just step over them! Oh, and if there's any program that might possibly help the average homeless guy, you just make the hoops so impossible to jump thru you can keep your slush fund going (and call it help even tho it helps zero homeless). Why change when there's so many ways to make money???

Get more drones , camera's, grapplers as well. Break off racers by impounding their vehicles and revoking licenses.
