Tamad ako magshoot or edit but i have so many on my mind...i want him to do the 7 CHURCHES of intramuros. I want to help him out if he lets me. I know where they were, where they are facing , what religious order runs them etc. Where they are now. Ex sto domingo is in banawe now. What church is the real home of nazareno, the church of the BLUE EAGLES & GROWLING TIGERS 😅😅 wish ko makatulomg ako sa kanya! More power sir Fern

I grew up in Makati in the 70s, we would go to Makati Commercial center all the time, on the weekends, after school - watched many movies in Rizal theater and QUAD theater, tumatambay kami sa Glorietta grandstand - there was a dunkin donuts at the QUAD carpark, also a Kowloon restaurant, sarap ng siopao dun! My friend had her debut at Manila Garden hotel, at yung dating Bricktown arcade may Max's Fried chicken. One of the first McDonalds in the philippines was in the cinderella arcade katapat lang ng QUAD.....so many memories

Buntong hininga na lang sa napakalaking pagbabago. Family getaway namin noon pa man early 80's. Quad Cinema diyan pa kami dati nanood then kakain sa Jollibee. 🙏🙏🙏

The last time I visited Makati was 2017, I went to Landmark but after that I don't know where to go next. I am so lost with all these tall buildings around me. I still remember I saw the movie "Grease" at Rizal theater way back then. Makati commercial used to be a sprawling shopping area lots of parking spaces, but now it seems so crowded and humid with all the noise of cars honking. It's like I'm in a different city. I wish they didn't change the street names like Buendia, Pasong Tamo, etc.but anyway still it was nice to see Makati again, my hometown the place where I grew up. Thanks for your tour.

Batang Fort Bonifacio here.. eto yung pasyalan namin nung wala pang BGC. circa 1990s. naabutan ko pa yung Quad pero transition na siya to Glorietta.. ang parkingan namin jan is either park square 1 or yung SM parking sa tapat ng EDSA.. reminiscing the days when we're still kids. ;)

When I was watching your vlog, I keep on rewinding and pausing the video for me to remember those establishments and buildings that existed in the 60s, 70s and now gone. With your vlog, it gave me a whole picture of what it is now in that area. I felt sad to know that most of the structures, establishments are now gone and it is just the memories of the past to remember. I had so many great memories of the place during the 60s and 70s. The last time that I visited Makati was in 1997 and yet a lot of buildings were erected after that.
You did an excellent job Fern in making this documentary of Makati Center then and now. Kudos to you!

There were 4 now only 2 left and I think mcdo will be the only 1 remaining, NATL bs is struggling sa sales . I have to take many deep breaths …many thanks again for sharing. Reminiscing the good old days during late 70’s when I was a kid . Every summer I go on vacation in Manila , then every week ends we always go to Makati to go shopping or watch movies. The places you mentioned at the beginning of this vlog I still have a clear memories of them . We used to ride the love bus metro Manila transit from philcoa in QCto makati. We start in Rustans then we walked to ShoeMart I love to eat ice cream at their restaurant then buy some of my school supplies after that we go to Quad to watch movies then go pick up some groceries at Makati Supermarket. Sometimes if we have time we eat at Sulu restaurant but it’s always packed at dinner time . I’m always amazed how beautiful the front of the Intercontinental Hotel. Then there’s the Peninsula Hotel at the corner with a beautiful front and I guess there’s a small waterfalls too. That’s the reason why I always sit at the window side of the Love bus . Few blocks away there’s a Metro bank building that’s the tallest at that time , I always count how many floors, I guess it was 25 floors.I’m thankful that enjoyed Makati then when it was not that commercialized as it is now when there was still a big open space for parking. Thanks again and God bless .

I love this particular vlog mo Fern. I always have a special affinity for this city. First time I set foot in Makati was in 1980, I was only 10 as my eldest sister used to worked in UCPB along Makati Ave near the intersection with Paseo de Roxas and I vividly remember admiring Manila Mandarin across it and the The Atrium. We will walked over until we reached the Alemar's branch that used to stand where Shang-Makati now is. I remember Manila Peninsula in the 80s with the waterfalls, the old Rustan's dept store and we frequent the parks around Sulu. I also had an operation in Makati Med in 1982. My first truly corporate job was also in Makati in 1996 and for a while boarded in Zapote near J.P. Rizal. In 2013 I worked back in Makati along Ayala Ave and until now almost a decade later, still loving the city although I reside in the nearby Rizal province. Thanks for the vlog Fern

I love this vlog. It brings back memories of my youth/college years. I remember going there to watch movies in Quad theaters by riding the lovebus with my college friends. We catch the bus from Escolta then passing Roxas blvd to Cultural Center then Buendia then Ayala blvd. During those time in the late 70's when disco was popular due to Saturday Night movie, we also went disco in Makati. There were disco places called The Doubles and also Another World in Greenbelt at that time. I remember Sulo resto, it was one of the high end resto in Makati, servers wear maranao costume. Sorry can't afford to eat there then..student budget only. hehehe. Again thank you Fern for this.

My dad also worked in Makati longer than I was and we used to alternate between SM Makati and Cubao way back in the early 80s when I was a kid even though we lived in QC since at that time, wala pa sila SM North EDSA at si Megamall. Been to Ayala last week lang and napanuod ko siya ngayon hehe.
Kaya mukhang bago ang itsura ni G1 and G2 compare to G3 and G4.

Napaka aliwalas. Sa gilid ng Makati Supermart, nakatayo ang tunay na Glorietta in a sense of the word. Ang sarap pasyalan. Ang nakakahinayang sa lahat ang RIZAL THEATER. Sana hindi giniba ng Ayala. Ginawa na lang Heritage Bldg. Ang laki naman ng lupain nla. Sana nagkaron ng remembrance ang OLD MAKATI COMMERCIAL CENTER, naging LANDMARK/HERITAGE BLDG. ang RIZAL THEATER. Sayang talaga.

What was planned by the Rizal monument in Luneta was the first National Theater of the Philippines, a project of Leonila Garcia (from 1957-1961). But I don't recall them ever planning to call it "Rizal Theater."

At that time taga Cavite City pa kami. Lumuwas pa kami para mamasyal. 1. Tapos pag weekends may performers doon like rondalla, or nag-vaviolin. 10. 12. Tapos Anson's malapit sa Makati Supermarket. 13. Noong nagkaroon ng Landmark, parang silang ata yung may food court. 14. At noong early 90's working student ako, naging bagger sa SM Makati. that time na-incorporate the ang MCC sa Glorietta 1,2,3,4, nawala na ung mga arcades. 15. 21.
