Late 80s. WSU stadium, Pullman, WA. Tina Turner, at the height of her fame. Me, a foster kid freshly emancipated and broke, freshman student at WSU, surviving on Pell grants and student loans (recently forgiven, thank you). Me and my buddies could afford the cheapest seats possible, behind the huge speakers on the sides of the stage. We couldn't even see her sing... Ms. Turner came to the sides of the stage, twice, for at least 10 minutes, singing to the cheapest seats, because she knew we couldn't see her. Her music is great, her empathy even better. She's Buddhist too, like me.

KD Lang is a legend. One of the most phenomenal voices of my generation. I will never forget when she was on TV singing roy orbison songs and singing her awesome albums constant cravings. I had a huge crush on her. I hope she is doing well and enjoying her life.

Mae must be thinking of "punting" - moving a small boat (a punt) with a long stick - a bit like gondolas in Venice, but a posh English past-time you see in period dramas and at Oxford. When a pontoon was mentioned that was what initially came to my mind too!

We had a lake cabin when I was growing up and we had a pontoon. I thought it was the un-coolist thing ever! LOL My friends' parents all had speedboats, but for some reason they loooved my parents' pontoon!

When I check in on my ‘Handsomes’… I love how it feels like I’m just hanging out with chosen family…and you all are sooo funny! I will never get over ‘FORTUNE!!!’ ….and although it is totally not my jam, but I will vote yes on the Mae\Fortune just to support the lesbians out here that would enjoy it… Mind you, my baby sister is a lesbian.. Marisol and her love Jack…. But as I call them Bug and Ladybug…Anywho I love you all… Keep making us laugh! 💋
In the mid-80s, when I was like 6-9 years old, I would routinely perform a specific Barbara Streisand song “Second Hand Rose”. I’d gather up the props (toothpicks, hat, pearls, artificial rose, etc.), and sing and act along with the vinyl record. We even had a baby grand piano, so I would gesture to it at the appropriate times. I wish video of this existed, I bet it was so cute 😆
