Audiobooks are a good way to read more while doing other things (shower, getting ready, cleaning, cooking, walking, etc) which helps!
I definitely read my physical books too! I think around 50% of the books I've read so far this year were from my shelves!

You should definitely invest in a kindle! Not the tablet ones, just one of the basic touch screen black and white ones that are purely for reading ebooks. They’re a lot easier on the eyes and don’t make you as tired, and reading from your phone is super bad for your eyesight :) just a suggestion, I think you’d really like having one! The basic ones are also pretty cheap
My laser eye surgery is guaranteed for life so my poor self is taking the risk 😂
But seriously I keep spending my money on books instead and in Canada we can't connect our kindle to the library directly so I'm basically being petty and refuse to get one until they fix that!

BookswithEmilyFox I think the "Canadian equivalent" to kindle is kobo. I've always had a kobo so idk the difference. Anyways, I absolutely love mine AND i love that i can borrow from the library through overdrive.

I loved City of Brass! So so good. I have been hearing very good things about the poppy war and want to read it. I’m just finishing the Magicians Land right and am enjoying it.
I'm about 30% into City of Brass and I'm enjoying it!
I think it was a mistake to read both that and The Poppy War at the same time because nothing will beat TPW lol I'm pretty sure it will be my # 1 book of the year!

Ok your mood in this vlog is me! I can love a book so much and know that I should probably spend more time reading than on the internet, but yet I still choose the internet lol
I swear the more tired I am, the lower my attention span is 😂
I do most of my reading through audiobooks as I don't get a lot of actual free time to just read. I mostly listen to audiobooks while walking my dog or during bus travel :)

Have you ever tried reading on your phone with white text on a black screen? That's what I do and it really helps my eyes while reading ebooks.

I NEED THE POPPY WAR IN MY LIFE
I just finished The Hero of Ages and it was every bit as amazing as you said! But now every time I pick up a new book to read I just think, "...but this isn't as good as Mistborn..." and put it back down. I'm waiting not so patiently for an order from Book Depository including The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and some others I am counting on to pull me out of this slump. :P Awesome vlog as always! :)

So damn pleased that you loved Poppy War! When I first read it, there was only like two or three reviews on the book on Goodreads. But I had no doubt that it would become something BIG in the fantasy world! :)

How are you liking “City of Brass”? I have it on my nightstand, waiting for me. Also, some days ago I read a sample of “Poppy War” and was very intrigued, so this reading vlog quickly became extra interesting for me 🙂

Girl red sister! It’s a 5 star read that’s pretty similar to poppy war- although I’m not sure anything can beat that book this year :)
I keep putting it on my TBR and then I don't read it -_-

Game of Thrones! It's like my 3rd time re-reading it and you should definately read it, though I'd be suprised if you haven't already!
I finished Before They Are Hanged yesterday by Joe Abercrombie and it was sooooo good!
I know you've probably heard of this before, but if you haven't read A Court of Thorns and Roses you are practically not living. (I don't know if dystopian is your thing, and it's not fantasy, but I also recommend the Gone Novels!)
Trust me the second half of Eragon gets much better x

not really related but i just finished reading "The Name of the Wind" and it was absolutely incredible (it was also my first adult high fantasy!!) and i need to know.... WHEN ARE YOU PLANNING TO READ IT???? (you're basically my go to for high fantasy recommendation so I really want to know what you think of it!!) also now that i have conquered my fear of high fantasy, which Brandon Sandarson book do you recommend to start with? while i only own the first book in the "Mistborn" trilogy, my library has a lot of his books. Lastly, I've been eyeing "The Poppy War" for a while, and since you liked it so much and gave it 5 stars (which i know you don't give easily) i added it to my TBR.
I'm trying to wait until the third book is announced since I hate waiting!
Either start with Mistborn or Warbreaker (available for free on his website!)!
Totally off topic, but hubs and I have recently incorporated protein shakes for breakfast 5 days a week. I am stealing your cool brew concentrate mixed with a protein shake idea for hubs. He spends almost $3 every day on his Starbucks cold drinks at work and this could break him of that habit! Yay!
You’ll get addicted! That shake is the best one I’ve tried!!

I literally finished Eragon a few hours ago. I enjoyed it (though I have to admit I picked it back up on page 140 something after months of a break and I had to force myself for a while.) And my eyes just literally skipped the word Eragon cause it's mentioned so frequently.
When I want a fun drinking game I watch Emily's videos and do a shot everytime she says "technically" 😅❤

It's the catrice liquid camouflage concealer and it is cruelty free. The color range sucks though so it depends on your skin tone!
I recommend the Wet n Wild photofocus concealer too!
Potential solution: Film your box now, then add it to the end of the year video and get rid of the books you don't want to keep.
Sadly the way I film my yearly wrap up, I do piles to show all the books - the ones I get from the library I'll use a similar size book so I could do that but it's just not the same :P
I see! Another potential solution: turn them into a Christmas tree with fairy lights and bookish tchotchkes, or otherwise find a way to make something happy from the books that you didn't like until the year is done.
Yaaas! I loved the poppy war so much! it is up there with mistborn - which is a bold statement :) my favourite book of the year- hands down
wondering if youve ever read the green mile by stephen king.... seems like the sort of book you might like. i just finished it and i am quite strict on my 5 star ratings as it seems you are, and this one knocked it out of the park. it has a good mix of poignant memories, magical realism, 1930's america, mystery/thriller, and jailhouse stories, and the characters are so well crafted. (heads up though, there is a very gruesome scene about mid way through, but seeing that youve read horror and others by king i dont think it would be beyond you)
No yet since I know I'll be heart broken since I loved the movie!
I definitely want to at one point though!

I've been thinking about it but Kindles can't be synched to our libraries in Canada and I'm petty and refuse to get one until they fix it :P

I noticed abandon on your shelf, the one by Blake crouch. Have you read it? Did you like it? I have tried twice and I HATE it and I know you haven’t liked a lot of his older books, but you enjoyed Wayward Pines and Dark Matter. Just wanted to see if you had an opinion!
I haven't read it yet! After reading the WP trilogy and Dark Matter I bought 3 other books from him... so far I hated the first two and Abandon is the last one... I'm not excited to read it anymore lol

Have you read his most recent books? His writing really improved but it's not amazing either. The rest of the stories were just good enough to compensate but reading his older work as kinda ruined it for me 😂

BookswithEmilyFox I think the newest one I’ve read is dark matter and I LOVED it. I read it in one day, which is why I was shocked that I didn’t love abandon. I think I feel the same way. I recommended the books to my friend and he mentioned that he doesn’t think he writes female characters well, but he puts so much detail into his male characters and they are like, all the same, and it definitely made me see his books in a different light.
I agreed that his characters, overall relationships and even dialogues kinda suck lol
The premises and pace are good enough to compensate in his last books but not for his older work apparently!
I see what looks like Outlander on your rainbow TBR shelf. I really don’t think you’d enjoy it. It is 100% romance. Also stuff goes down that seems very very unnecessary to me.
I got about half way through the second book and DNF it. I really wanted to love that series but it’s just a bit much for me.
It's how I feel too... hence why I haven't picked it up yet lol
I found Outlander SO problematic- I’d love to hear you critique it, Emily just for the tea, lol. But personally I had to DNF. (Possible spoiler?) there is so much unnecessary sexual assault that the author seems to want to pass off as romance. 🐸☕️

I read ebooks on my phone also. It can be a strain sometimes, but its not unpleasant. I sometimes switch to my ipad if I want a bigger screen. My biggest peeve about reading on my phone is that sometimes it takes me a lot longer to read on my phone because every 4 or so "pages" is one page in the actual book. It can make it seem like the book has a million pages, but sometimes it makes it fly by faster. It depends on my mood.

You need to get an iPad or Kindle! The Libby and Kindle apps work great on those too... makes me cringe to see you reading on that small screen. If you're reading on your phone a lot, get something bigger!
Oh, I don't know how you can read on your phone. I just find it too small and too distracting.
