Fun fact: The "ta-da" from Loki was improved by Tom Hiddleston. The scene was supposed to be silent, but since Tom knew that Loki was a smartass, he knew fully well Loki would gloat about proving himself right to Thor and thus "ta-da" came to be, and the directors loved it and kept it.

Yeah! Chris H and Tom are actually both great improvisers and got great comedic timing so it was nice to see even a hint of humour-ish moments from them in this movie. Another improv moment was Chris having Thor put Mjolnir on the coatrack .

The more I hear about add-ons like this, the more I realize it's part of the actor's job to give the character personality. There's more to a character than lines and actions. So cool. :^3

This movie is really underrated, but it still could have been a ton better. Malekith in the comic is a very likable villain and he's very Joker-like, which would be perfect, as the actor of malekith could probably nail a character like that, but instead we got a bland and boring villain.

I'm not sure if you know but there is actually a deleted scene where Frigga talks about teaching Loki magic and why she did it because "Thor and Odin cast large shadows" so Loki would not fell small around them.
And I 100% agree with the opinion that Asgard and many aspects of the Thor franchise went underused in the MCU... Many characters like 'The Warriors Three', Heimdall which is actually one of the most formidable Asgardians and he wasn't used much at all; Lady Sif is one of the big characters that went under the radar and I do hope she gets more stuff in the future of the MCU. She is Thor's right hand warrior and confidant, the Goddess of War and in many comics she is his partner and love interest which IMO is a much better match for Thor than Jane Foster, specially how their relationship didn't actually land well in the movies and went nowhere... There was info about this move that an earlier pitch for the script was going to lean more heavy into showing Sif's feelings for Thor but they decided to leave it at those few hints we see in the final movie that she likes him, I just wish they had gone for it and I'm still hoping they will.

I never understood the hate for this movie. All 3 Thor movies are great. And the villains make perfect sense to me. The frost giants and dark elves are cold and dark personified in Norse mythology. They came from a time before warmth and light and see those forces -and all who dwell there- as the true invaders. They are simply forces of nature fighting back against the opposing forces that pose a danger to their existence. Their empires have been decimated. Their populations are on the brink of extinction. They're pissed and vengeful. They don't need to be more complicated than that.
I do love a complicated villain too but not every single one needs to be a misunderstood underdog, wax poetic of the meaning of life, or even be likeable. Sometimes the stone-faced and the relentless can be just as compelling in the right situation.

I really wish we had spent more time on Asgard in the MCU tbh. I loved seeing how advanced the Asgardians were, especially considering their Medieval/ Viking appearance & use of melee weapons 14:06 15:11 15:45 17:02 21:46 - Asgard could've been even more impressive than Wakanda if done right.
We saw some cool/ fascinating technology on Asgard, i.e.:
    - cannons/ turrets defending the city 22:20
    - shield/ force field protecting the Royal Palace 14:41 14:57
    - Items/ Relics in Odin's Vault
    - Skiffs/ hovercraft warships 14:31 23:02
    - collars & cuffs used on Loki & Lorelei (in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) 21:00
    - Soul Forge (/ Quantum Field Generator) 9:05
    - force field prison cells 10:48 12:33 17:35
    - Bifrost 8:50
    - Destroyer armour, etc, but I would've loved to hv seen even more like it tbh.

This is actually my favorite of the Thor movies...I don't understand the flak it gets. Yes, the villain was underdeveloped, but all the other characters were used so well. Thor becomes much too comical in the later films; I prefer this version. Jane was really just a bystander in the first film, but here she actually contributes greatly to the battle. My favorite detail is the little callback to the first Thor, where Loki said to Odin, "I did it for you" before he fell into the abyss. This time, when Thor says, "Father would be proud of you," Loki's reply is "I didn't do it for him."

You can watch Black Widow sometime between Civil War and Infinity War...just skip the post credit scene because it is way to far future to make sense at that time.
Or wait to watch it after Endgame...that works too.

That film really should have been released right after Civil War...it would have had a much bigger impact. I'll probably watch it there in the future.

to me, the most captivating aspect of Thor movies is the dysfunctional family. Thor's romance with Jane was flimsy and unnecassary in the first one, and it's even worse here. I really hate her slapping everyone, it's not funny. I think their bond is very shallow, and the movie could've been improved if it focused more on Thor's emotions and feelings(he seems really depressed), on Friga(she's clearly the one who taught Loki magic and they had special bond) and Odin(and how he wasn't/isn't a very good father) and most importantly on the relationship between the brothers. And if there really needed to be some romance, Sif is right there, so we could've explored more from norse mythology.

Thor is Sif is also the comics endgame so it’s not just exploring Norse it’s exploring his ACTUAL comic and mythical love- but no we got Jane

Yes, there is a lot to like in the film, but as others have said, the elves are pretty lame villains, Malekith in particular. This film suffered partly because they hired Alan Taylor to direct it, who had done some excellent Game of Thrones episodes, but they were not happy with what he had been doing on this film, so the studio basically took it over and finished it without his involvement. They had originally hired Patty Jenkins to do it, and her idea for the film sounds a lot more interesting than what we got, but c'est la vie.

I really loved this movie. I don't know why people put it down so much. It gave a more in depth look at Loki and the relationships in the family. And I'm sure it's the movie that spawned all the Loki fans.
When it first came out, they did a double bill at the cinema so we watched Thor and Thor 2 back to back and it was so fun.

Thor is my favorite character in Marvel comics but MCU destroyed it... first film was a great start but story writing just went downhill... i was furious at the 3rd movie because Ragnarok is the most important part for Thor and Asgardian mythos but they decided to make it a joke fest. It's felt like a holiday movie which is not bad, but if you knew the potential of Ragnarok story in comics..it's really sad that they chose this route.
