    Sofie,
    I watched this video almost daily several weeks before our trip to Italy. It was so helpful and actually was enough to converse with almost everyone. The people there were extremely friendly and appreciated the effort I had taken to speak their language. I think it helped make our two week trip easier, and a lot more fun.
    Grazie,
    Janie

      Giusto! I was surprised how good her accent is given how she speaks English. That California "accent" is hard to take. Americans seem to be unable to speak without a fake smile. There ARE other facial expressions.

      If you like italian language and you want to learn more about our language you should listen to italian music. Like Annalisa Scarrone, Francesca Michelin, Giorgia (singer), Erica Mou, Emma Marrone, Fabrizio De André (dead, but a true genius with streets and schools and places with his name), Cristina Donà, Francesco De Gregori...they are some of many.

    My brother studied languages at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in California. The pace of study was intense. Students had to master the language course in 36-64 weeks. Psychologically it was very difficult, but fortunately he was helped by Yuriy Ivantsiv's book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages”. The book " Polyglot Notes" became a desk book for my brother, because it has answers to all the problems that any student of a foreign language has to face. Thanks to the author of the channel for this interesting video! Good luck to everyone who studies a foreign language and wants to realize their full potential!

      True. I noticed that it's used not only int german language countries but even in France and also in eastern Europe.
      I thought they were similar words but they were not actually, since it is a linguistic influence of italian immigration in those other european countries.

    I visited Italy for the first time earlier in 2017 and had only learned prego as "you're welcome", which was so confusing when waiters would bring food and say prego, I was thinking "was that a really sarcastic 'you're welcome' because they had to bring it to me? Was I meant to do something else and I annoyed them?" so I would definitely recommend anyone else learn multiple meanings of words like prego too!

    Hi I am part Italian but I live in Australia. I would love to learn the language of my country but I don’t see my Nono enough for him to be able to teach me. My dad used to speak it fluently as a child but he no longer does.
    One thing I have noticed when learning Italian is the expression in the sentences is very different English. Is this something that also needs to be picked up when learning Italian? Expressing the words and sentences in a specific way???

    I’ve been here for a month in a coastal town in Calabria and cannot stress enough that most people don’t speak any foreign languages or will only understand a few words (if you accentuate them enough). I’m lucky enough to be speaking Spanish and French and have been improvising my way trough Italian communication with a lot of effort but also having many dead ends where either of us couldn’t find a way to each other understood. 😂 I’m picking up a few words everyday, ... “va bene?” (How are you? ) is helpful for reoccurring meetings.

      Get a translation app on your phone. I find it useful when I don't know a Hebrew word or even a Russian one. We have a lot of Russians and Ukrainians here. I type in the word and then show it to the person in the correct language.

    Your Italian is great, no doubt. But remember Italians count differently. They start with their thumb as most Europeans. I asked clearly for two tickets in Paris (and showed two fingers...with thumb makes three!)...and received three (at the Eiffel Tower). I went back with no problem! Grazie per tutto!

    • @cristinatenace9338
      @cristinatenace9338 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That s true but we use thumb for 3 ( while Americans do 3 using index medium and ring and holding thumb and pinkie together) and 5. So when we say 2 we show index and medium and hold ring and pinkie with thumb) Ciaoo 😉
