On the other hand, his story about being shot at 5:30 in the morning took me back a few years.... Remember the Keen fellow in Limerick? Yeah, I woke up to that. Another American who was at the same conference as I but lives in Germany woke up... and we didn't think anything was remarkable about the morning. It sank in later that it's not normal to hear that many sirens in Ireland that early in the morning!😅
One time about 15 years ago someone pulled up and asked me for directions to the post office, and I panicked and said sorry, I'm not from here. After he drove off I was like wait, I work in this town. It's one town over from my town. I'm here every day. Also, my brother works at the post office. It's like just down the street.
The funniest part about the "I am not Chinese" guy was that he was from Singapore, and the Congressman would not stop asking him about his relationship to China.
The trouble is, Singapore has enough Chinese influence due to rich people parking money there etc that the question is kind of valid. There are A LOT of Mainland Chinese in Singapore these past few years; it's astounding. It may sound ignorant but they are actually right to ask this.

I'm East Asian and I live in London. When people stop me to ask for directions, I pretend that I don't know how to speak English. I've only done this a handful of times, and each time I do it, I feel guilty for perpetuating stereotypes about non-English people not bothering to "learn the language" - but then I leave the encounter and I feel less nervous knowing that I didn't send a stranger to their immediate doom.
I was in Norwich, England, and a man from London asked me for directions. I told him I wasn't a local and he said it was obvious and that's why he asked me -- because he hadn't understood the directions he'd gotten from a native of Norwich.

Y'all know why Josh is one of the best newer comedians? Because he makes you laugh, but makes you think while you're laughing. He's funny and smart, the best combo. Edit: for all those saying he's not new-ive come to realize that he's actually been around for awhile. But I just discovered him about a year ago, and he still looks so young. So he's still new to me 😛.

I understand the not being able to eat a hotdog thing. As a woman I have been sexually harassed since I was 14 for eating ice cream cones. I'm 53 now. Men make the filthiest comments when they see you enjoying an ice cream cone. I am not as free with my enjoyment as I was at 14, when I ate ice cream with a child's enthusiasm. I don't lick the cone in a weird way, but you give a kid a triple scoop of ice cream and you will see enthusiasm. Men are filthy about certain foods.

During the pandemic I stumbled upon Josh Johnson... I think he had a fro... I couldn't stop laughing cause he looked like a member of the Jackson 5 but the brother that didn't get abused and used that we never heard of... Then he started doing this amazing comedy sets that talk about everything we are hearing and going thru and he always has a way for you to laugh about it.... I believe this dude can be a nightly show host.. keep up the good work 💪🏾!
Continually hilarious! That start of a smile he has as he goes into the guts of the joke is enough to have me falling out before he even finishes the punchline! He's also brilliant which allows for the funniest jokes imaginable!
I love the telltale smirk and pause when he's about to drop a particularly good punchline. Billy Connolly used to laugh at himself during a set and those were always the ones that would make me howl with laughter. Josh is a great in the making

I like to listen to stand up while doing other things, but I have to stay locked in to Josh because he captures such subtle mannerisms so perfectly. His performances are truly elevated.
It's so interesting the way you engage your audience when you're just in this "conversational mode" while remaining peaceful. As I listen, I'm relaxed and fully invested in your conversation, curious to what you're talking about. At some point you bring in a punchline which gets the audience to laugh. Just so cool how you're able to manage to do that. If I were to attempt that, I might feel pressured to speak quickly, fearing that someone might complain.

When I was growing up it was a pretty big thing that most men were pressed about eating a banana when people were around. Late 80s-mid 00s? Never see a man just straight up eat a banana. THAT'S GAY.

Look, when my dad found out his hair was growing back after adding bananas to the rather short list of fruit he ate, he started buying 5 pound bags of them at Sam's every week, 😆. He originally began eating them because his Potassium was low and he had had a heart attack.

I'm from Northern California, and I've set bones in a person's foot and toes. It had to happen. The dude was my buddy, yknow, "the buddy system," but was in unmanageable pain. The doctor at the ER said he couldn't have done better. It was perfectly set and splinted, and I'm not even a scout. I'm terrible at choosing buddies, though.

Josh doesn't know what 5 AM at night is, and I think that's good. No one really needs to experience 5 AM at night. Take it from me: someone who's experienced 6 AM at night on numerous occasions.
Night am is a weird perspective. You and the other cars are driving in the same direction, both drivers might be equally half awake and unsafe to drive but its the one time I am happy to be driving at 5:30 am.

One time I was in downtown Chicago and a man asked me for directions to Union Station. He said he was taking the Amtrak train to Detroit and it was leaving in 20 minutes. I very confidently told him where to go and he sprinted away. About five minutes later it hit me that I'd given him directions to Ogilvie---the Metra commuter train terminal.
I've met so many people that have to cut everything even remotely phallic shaped into pieces before they eat it. There was even this one guy who liked Long John Doughnuts. However, he would scoop out the custard from the middle, slice the doughnut into fork-sized chunks, and then dip said chunks in the custard like it was fucking steak sauce. I love just shoving bananas, hotdogs, or what-have-you down my gullet whole as sellaciously as possible, just to watch them freak out. It's one of my favorite pass times.

Look, when my dad found out his hair was growing back after adding bananas to the rather short list of fruit he ate, he started buying 5 pound bags of them at Sam's every week, 😆. He originally began eating them because his Potassium was low and he had had a heart attack.

I'm from Northern California, and I've set bones in a person's foot and toes. It had to happen. The dude was my buddy, yknow, "the buddy system," but was in unmanageable pain. The doctor at the ER said he couldn't have done better. It was perfectly set and splinted, and I'm not even a scout. I'm terrible at choosing buddies, though.

Josh doesn't know what 5 AM at night is, and I think that's good. No one really needs to experience 5 AM at night. Take it from me: someone who's experienced 6 AM at night on numerous occasions.
Only those of us that been there know there's a difference between night AM and morning AM.
Night am is a weird perspective. You and the other cars are driving in the same direction, both drivers might be equally half awake and unsafe to drive but its the one time I am happy to be driving at 5:30 am.

One time I was in downtown Chicago and a man asked me for directions to Union Station. He said he was taking the Amtrak train to Detroit and it was leaving in 20 minutes. I very confidently told him where to go and he sprinted away. About five minutes later it hit me that I'd given him directions to Ogilvie---the Metra commuter train terminal.
Some people are night owls who stay up until 5am or later. Other people work nights. Not everybody is asleep at 5am.

I've met so many people that have to cut everything even remotely phallic shaped into pieces before they eat it.
There was even this one guy who liked Long John Doughnuts. However, he would scoop out the custard from the middle, slice the doughnut into fork-sized chunks, and then dip said chunks in the custard like it was fucking steak sauce.
I love just shoving bananas, hotdogs, or what-have-you down my gullet whole as sellaciously as possible, just to watch them freak out. It's one of my favorite pass times.
