  • (June 2023) I can't believe it. 30 years ago today, I filmed my first elevator at the Hilton Atlanta, followed by the Hyatt and the Marriott Marquis. This was a very special day in 1993 because Darlene Marlow took me to Atlanta to fulfill a dream I have had since 1988. This is also pretty much the start of elevator filming as we know it today.
This video is several things. It is a 30th Anniversary special, a 100K subscriber special, and a 5000 video special. More importantly it is me hopefully showing all of you guys gratitude in supporting me and it is also the closest thing to my life story I have ever posted on the internet.
In this video you will obviously hear my story but you will also be treated to alot of content that is unreleased at the time of the shooting of this video. You will also get to see the 3 famous elevators both in 1993 and 2023.
During my storytelling phase of the video, I supplement it with relevant photos and videos as well as fitting background music from Epidemic Sound.
I must sincerely thank every one of you who has watched a video, subscribed, or supported me in any way. I truly am grateful for each and every one of you.
THIS VIDEO IS DEDICATED TO THE LATE DARLENE MARLOW 1949-2016 YOU ARE MY HERO.

For this reason, you also have made me the person that I am today as well as making me and my dad much closer in person as we do these elevator filming trips all across America and beyond!

Happy anniversary Andrew! You were the reason back in mid 2017 why I decided to join the community. A lot like you, I also enjoyed riding elevators as a young kid. My parents would take me out to ride a few at stores and other places as well. Nice to see we have some things in common when it comes down to origins of being interested in elevators.

Congrats on 30 years elevator photography Andrew! Thank you for the great story and the adventure you took us on today, it was really great to see how everything grew to what it is today. While hearing your story about being interested with elevators when you were younger and how are you actually got scared of elevators for two years after just that small incident, it was interesting to me now that I wasn't the only one afraid of elevators.
Sure we had a fear of the same thing, for a little while but eventually we got through it, and I'm happy to say that you're the reason I am no longer afraid of elevators and I'm also happy that I got a chance to celebrate my 10 year anniversary on TH-cam earlier this year. I'm also glad that I have been able to meet fellow content creators with the power of social media throughout the elevator community. I can't wait to collaborate with one of our community members in the future I think it will be awesome. Once again happy 30 years of elevator photography and here's to many more years in the future!

I started watching a lot of TH-cam in middle school in 2013-14, and your channel was one I found fascinating because I also was really into elevators at the time (One Christmas or Birthday I got “Up, Down, and Across” which is practically a textbook on elevators). Partially inspired by you and other channels I watched at the time, I created my channel in 2016 and the first few videos I posted were elevators, whether real or built in video games. I’ve kind of moved out of being completely obsessed with elevators, but every now and then I come back here to watch a few videos because I know they’ll be good quality and fun to watch! Congrats on 30 years, and I hope we continue to get to see awesome content for years to come!

I'm so thankful for everything... Without you, my elevator passion wouldn't be how it is today. I am so passionate about filming & riding elevators, and it all began when I overcame my fear of elevators at age 10-11, then I got obsessed over both you & JimLiElevators' videos! 6-7 years later, I've filmed almost every elevator in my entire city. Once again, I am so thankful for everything. Huge congratulations, I think this is well deserved.
Let the passions go on! I don't think most people understand how important our elevator passions are, and how this passion can make a positive difference in the world. It's a shame how many security guards correlate taking videos to terrorism.
I am also obsessed with 3D modeling elevators & writing controllers for them on a virtual platform, and my desire is to work up to building up a whole new elevator company in the real world!
The first elevator I've ever ridden since birth is a 2008 KONE Monospace, but my favorite elevators I grew up riding & overcame my fear on were Schindler 500A elevators at a local medical center. Those elevators have a very special place in my heart, and I still ride them to this day. I couldn't have imagined what my life would be like now if I never became obsessed with riding them, let alone overcoming my fear on them.

You are a TH-cam prodigy! Also, I find it very neat on how much you and me are alike: We have the same 'uniquenesses', and went through the same hardcomings while in school (I was in 10th grade when I was in my dark age), and to know that I am not alone on this makes me feel special! I will never be spectacular like you are because I am not a people person, I am not good with strangers, and I am somewhat agoraphobic... But I love watching your videos and I do love playing video games (they're my life, and my first was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of the Foot Clan on the Game Boy when I was only 3 years old, and I was born in 1992)! So, as unique persons, let's keep doing what we love doing, and never give up on it! ;)

I’m on the Autism spectrum too and faced many challenges too when I was little with school and a bunch of other things. Once I got to my Junior year of high school I’ve become a different person than what I used to be. Anyways congratulations on 30 years of elevator photography and one million subscribers!

Happy 30th anniversary of elevator photography, Andrew! You have been a huge inspiration in my interest in filming elevators! To be honest, my interest in elevators started back in 2011 during my middle school years. The elevator that got me interested in this hobby was a Schindler 330A, which was why my channel name for a long time was SchindlerFan7783; I eventually changed it to SchindlerElevatorFan7783, probably about 7-8 years later. Of course, you see what my name is now. Anyway, I actually discovered and started watching you in 2012 and have been a subscriber ever since! My point is that I probably wouldn't have known about this hobby if I hadn't seen your content and other OGs! Also, I liked your story and what made you want to film elevators! Keep up the great work and continue to make the world a better place! As far as my age of when I started being interested in elevators, I was 11 and now I am 23 and albeit not as interested in elevator filming as I was a few years ago, I still consider riding elevators and filming them as a hobby.

@DieselDucy No problem! Yeah time does fly, it's kinda hard to believe that I've been interested in elevators for over a decade.

    Congrats Andrew!
You're an inspiration, I found out about you through a friend's little brother who is also on the autism spectrum and has an interest in elevators. I think it's great to for kids like him to have a role model like you: someone who is unapologetic about who they are, what they're interested in and proves that you don't have to act "normal" to live a happy fulfilling life.

I know I'm a few months late and I apologize, but I wanted to say how much as another autistic adult I love your content - by the time I got my first iPod touch in 2010 I fell in love with your content - it was some of the first videos I started watching on TH-cam
Seeing this truly fills my heart as someone who has questioned why they are the way they are and why I cant change it
    keep up the awesome work!

This just goes to show what a huge impact you can have on a youngster if you make the smallest (but thoughtful) considerations for them as an adult. This was super interesting! 👍

You and I have a lot in common. I had autism for 24 years this year, and depression for 10 years this year, for a combined total of 34. You and I have a lot in common, and when I was diagnosed, the doctors said I would not be able to be verbal, or have friends. We now know that those doctors were 100% wrong! You, Andrew, have helped me become who I am today.

The first place I filmed at was at DoubleTree Hotel with scenic Dover Impulses in Jackson, TN; the second place I filmed at was at the nearby Holiday Inn with scenic Otis Series 1s. This was almost 15 years ago; 15 years after you started filming. I started out filming with my old Olympus camera, then more recently I moved on to filming with my Apple device. I was 13 at the time, but I’m now 27 at the time. I’ll be 28 by the time of my 15th anniversary of me starting to film. I’ve been watching TH-cam since 2007 and I started my channel 11 years ago; my channel turns 12 near the end of this year.

30 years? This is my first time rediscovering this channel since I was a kid! Ah, early TH-cam. So many memories. I think I first started watching this your videos since... 2007? Right after I turned 8. I turn 24 this year and I'm glad this channel, no. Relic of early TH-cam is still here.
