  • Come along as Andrew, Brendan, Nick, and I go bowling in Salem, VA! Andrew and I were pretty competitive as always. Other highlights include another round of Stacker and some mechanical failures with the equipment. This was my first time bowling on AMF equipment, and I wasn't terribly impressed.

    So good to see bowling alleys remain vibrant social hubs well into the early twenty-first century. Loved the footage; the last time I visited an alley was sometime in high school, many, many moons ago.

    2 bowling alleys near me are having a bowling bonanza this weekend! for $13.00 a person you can bowl for 5 hours straight on labor day. the owner also has a disclaimer stating he is not responsible for injury or if a body part is left behind. LOL!

    One time when I went bowling, I got myself the 7-10 split, tried to bet $20 if I fail, and drove the ball to the left gutter, but the drive slid pin 7 to pin 10 giving me a split spare. I was like a magician.

      +filmer765 Once on my 8 birthday I went bowling as the birthday party and my best friend and I both got 7 strikes in a row. I got a bowling pin from the bowling alley as my prize. It's original from 2009. On the seventh strike my mom and dad were blown away by the number of pins I put down with the bowling ball. It was the best birthday party of my life. I wish I could have my fifteenth birthday party at the same bowling alley and get 7 strikes in a row.

    I spent 22 years of my life managing a bowling center that was equipped with AMF 82-70SS Pinspotters... the same as what you bowled on here. I don't care if it's this machinery, the newer AMF 82-90XL, the Brunswick A-2, the newer Brunswick GS-series, or the much older AMF 82-30 or Brunswick A/JetBacks... any of them can have an occasional stop... BUT, all of them will run infinitely better if they're properly maintained. We ran entire shifts without a single stop. Our mechanic was excellent. These look marginal. They seem to be fairly sound but they run like the carpet belts and shuttles as well as pins themselves might not be as clean as they should be. Cleanliness is everything with any of these models.

    • @Dana_Danarosana
      @Dana_Danarosana 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be fair, though... they were right on your distributor jam without any of you telling them about it. When the machine stopped, there was already someone there clearing the jam and the lady went after the deadwood also without any of you telling them. By the way, nothing pissed me off more than when I was working a mechanic shift and people would just keep throwing balls when they're obviously not coming back. Tell someone. I had 42 balls stuck on a pair (2 lanes) once. The ball returns hold 12. I cleared the pin in the lift and sent them back as fast as I could... lost my temper, I guess. But that's $20,000 worth of equipment they let you use for $4. Next time, take the 30 seconds to tell them the ball is stuck please and thank you.

      +WheelockElevator WTF Same with my current bowling alley! yeah my parents were starting to get a little tired of rabs so now we go to Showplace. In 2013 all the equipment was modernized from Brunswick to AMF and now they suck; the computers always malfunction and all the lights go out in our lane. I'm going back to rabs on my fifteenth birthday. They're a fudge better than Showplace's machines. Showplace's machines got modernized by AMF and they now suck.

    Amf sucks because when I bowled at a 12 lane bowling alley bowling in leauge the pinsetters would always break every week like during 2nd or 3rd game the rake would stop at first ball sometimes and make a loud clunk clunk clunk noise with the pins and the lane would black out why is that? Btw I now bowl with Brunswick A-2 and they work a lot better then Amf

    • @Dana_Danarosana
      @Dana_Danarosana 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jordan rausch That "clunk, clunk, clunk" is a distributor jam. When it "blacks out", someone's already there clearing it for you. Any AMF or Brunswick machine will run just fine if they're kept clean and properly maintained. I worked at a 24 lane AMF house for 22 years and our machines ran awesome. Our mechanic rocked! You could eat off the machines they were so clean. I think this happens more at AMF houses because you can get away with being a little lax. If you don't keep a Brunswick A2 clean, the pins will stick in the chutes constantly... they won't even run.
