Yes that's true. Filipinos totally love the classics. The reason ranging from being the best and timeless, they have also become our standards for vocal training and have proven to win singing competitions as they are beautiful and challenging at the same time (think of Houston, Celine Dion, Bryson, etc). We believe that if we start training with this classics, we can sing more varieties of music genre and makes us versatile in singing.

Nina Girado toured the USA 🇺🇸 this year. She can still sing whistle notes 📝 🤯. Suggested video 📹: Elaine Duran, Klarisse de Guzman and Nina Girado sing Fantasy and Emotions.

You are right…when Filipinos want to gather for some karaoke sessions the classic ballads are what you gonna hear as those songs can really show good vocals if you got one. When in the car or just chilling in the beach or what, then that’s when the Billboard top 100’s kind of songs are played.

Yes, not marketing, it is definitely the culture!!! Even if you go in the most rural areas of the country with karaoke, they also sing Western songs which would be the classics. They know it because they grow up listening to it from the radio. Western music is popular here in the Philippines. Western songs can also be the songs what singing contestants sing to like win a competition.

Yes! You're right. Filipinos were highly influenced by Western classic music. Local radio stations here in the Philippines usually play songs from 70's to 90's classics every Sunday.
WE LOVE CLASSIC SONGS.... WE LOVE CLASSIC SONGS FROM 70s, 80s that will express what we feel, what our soul wants to tell at that moment. If we want to improve our voice we should sing the Classics, Ballads, the love songs. We masters our breathe control while practicing in classic songs. We also love to sing black singer songs.... If the western forgotten the classic ballad music from 70s, 80s... Not the Filipinos. We keep it. We treasured it. We will sing it forever

Actually, Morissette admitted that herself, that it is harder to perform in those kind of settings, smaller and more intimate and easier on stages which are farther and bigger because she does not recognize the faces of the audience and thus less pressuring.
