It's a product of her insecurities. She wants a mate, she wants intimacy but she's afraid to engage when the potential is there. Understandable, but it won't make things any easier. Especially when someone has to overcome that initial hurdle of getting past her looks and voice. That's not an insult to her ...but let's get real, she looks and sounds like a child. Shauna is so difficult to sympathize with because she has the absolute worst attitude. Abraham was a really sweet guy and handled the situation as best as he could. He was extremely thoughtful, considerate and kept an open mind. Her comment about not caring if he played football was so rude and uncalled for, even if she didn’t say it to his face. She needs to realize that people have their own interests and passions and they don’t always have to exactly line up to hers. I feel so bad for Abraham. How should he know about shauna’s eating habits? He literally brought so many pizzas because he wanted her to have a variety and she starts complaining immediately. My son's wife looks very young for her age and my son looked older than his age, when they were dating he got pulled over by the police and the cop thought he was kidnapping a 12 yr old. Thing is that she was a year older than him and was legally an adult and he was 17 yrs old. They dated for most of high school and are now married with 2 kids.

I understand and sympathize with her being a bit standoffish and having a hard time with vulnerability in her situation. No one knows exactly what she has been through that makes her so defensive. I couldnt even fathom how I would think and feel and behave if I were in the same situation as her, mostly because I’ve never been through anything even remotely similar. I think the only thing that can help soften her really is for her to keep getting out there in the world and experience the variety of people and perspectives and personalities that life has to offer so that she’ll see that we’re all actually a lot more alike after all and defaulting to defense mode isn’t necessary all the time. Its great that she can be tough if she needs to be and no doubt she will learn to be able to discern when it’s appropriate to have firm boundaries and to make it clear that she is not to be messed with and when its not. My son's wife looks very young for her age and my son looked older than his age, when they were dating he got pulled over by the police and the cop thought he was kidnapping a 12 yr old. Thing is that she was a year older than him and was legally an adult and he was 17 yrs old. They dated for most of high school and are now married with 2 kids.

I'm not completely versed in the diagnosis that she has but it does seem like she expects people to know that she's older than what she looks before she tells them which is a wild expectation to have. I understand and sympathize with her being a bit standoffish and having a hard time with vulnerability in her situation. No one knows exactly what she has been through that makes her so defensive. I couldnt even fathom how I would think and feel and behave if I were in the same situation as her, mostly because I’ve never been through anything even remotely similar. I think the only thing that can help soften her really is for her to keep getting out there in the world and experience the variety of people and perspectives and personalities that life has to offer so that she’ll see that we’re all actually a lot more alike after all and defaulting to defense mode isn’t necessary all the time. Its great that she can be tough if she needs to be and no doubt she will learn to be able to discern when it’s appropriate to have firm boundaries and to make it clear that she is not to be messed with and when its not. I think she is incredibly strong to be dealing with so much all of the time. It must feel lonely when not even your parents see you for who you truly are.
