This was a helpful video! Q: how are you measuring/getting the total bitrate for the different resolution/fps combinations?
I'm pretty much a plebeian when it comes to understanding the technical specs of image/video processing and image fidelity... but I am trying to learn as I do research on choosing a dashcam: is it correct in saying that bitrate > resolution for image quality (assuming all things are equal, ie. using the same dash cam with the same sensor, HDR, bitrate capture, etc.)?
I know that higher resolutions require more bitrate given that there are more pixels that need 'data for completion'. I guess I am wondering if you can use a ratio as a comparison between a given resolution and it's bitrate, whereby a smaller resolution & larger bitrate is better than the inverse. Or perhaps there are individual minimum bitrate recommendations for each resolution to achieve ideal image quality, and so long as the minimum is met for a larger resolution it will always be sharper, clearer and capture more detail than a lower resolution with minimum or greater bitrate.
I realize this is a lot to ponder, but I am genuinely curious if it is possible to quantify image quality in this rough and dirty method when comparing same/similar hardware.

Not mentioned: set U.S. frequency for 60 Hz? ....70 celcius sounds hot. I'll keep an eye on it...Neat thermo-cam.....You cover some points not covered by others. Thx

Why don't you do a night test? To make the camera look good?
