    Thanks for this video, Rode basically wants/recommends you buy their SC11 cable and two VXLPro adapters to achieve this - which is more expensive and more clunky, and I doubt it would produce much better results. As long as gain is controlled carefully on the receiver and set properly on the transmitters to begin with, I think this is pretty decent solution for corporate shoots.

    • @itsgussy
      @itsgussy  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Which is why I came up with this solution. It’s efficient and saves money, plus the pre amps on the H6 are amazing. And you get the back up of the Rode mics and the back up of the H6

      @@itsgussy Going to try this for situations where I want to be able to modulate the volume/gain of the two transmitters individually when recording in camera. This is possible on my Canon R5C but only in a submenu when directly connected to the camera (terrible pre amps) - to be able to do that using the Tascam hot shoe adapter with XLR inputs, I will use the cable you recommend to break out the signal into two channels.

      @@itsgussy I have received the cable and can confirm it works very well. The cable splits the two mic inputs/transmitters from the Rode Wireless Go II and it allows me to use the CH1 and CH2 on the Tascam audio adapter for my Canon R5C. The audio quality is noticeably better than recording audio straight into camera, plus I get benefit of physical controls over levels/gain. Thanks 🙏

    Thanks for this. Just wish i could mount the rode wireless go 2’s receiver directly on the Sony fx3 cold shoe (on the body, not the handle) and go directly into camera -especially when using a gimbal. Unfortunately, when the Rode wireless go 2’s receiver is mounted this way, close to the top of the Sony FX3 , you get a bad buzz. You can reduce it a bit using a coiled 3.5mm cable instead of the flat one that comes with the Rode, and also put ferrite rings on the cable, but i haven’t found anyone who has completely been able to eliminate the buzz. Spoke to Rode about it. You can play with the gain settings, use a longer cable (which flops around), etc., but I believe there is really no way to eliminate the buzz completely when the Rode wireless go 2’s receiver is mounted on top of the fx3 camera body, and going directly into the fx3 camera body’s 3.5mm input. The original Rode wireless go (mono) doesn’t have this problem. Happy the transmitters record internally!

      The buzz comes from a non shielded cable. There is one that I’ve had good results from, and I get no buzz at all

    Hi! I have a BOYA BY-WM8 Pro-K2 (one receiver + 2 transmitter) and a Zoom Podtrak P4 recorder. I got surprised when I noticed that I can record the sound of the two transmitter only into one file. Is this my fault or there is any another way to record the two transmitter's sound separately? Or do you think it is a P4's specifity or other Zoom recorders works this way too? Or no matter what gear I use one XLR input results one channel can be recorded so if I would like to record a conversation between two person and I want to have two separate files in the end I need two transmitter + two receiver which kit connects via two XLR cable to P4?

    • @itsgussy
      @itsgussy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Wow that’s a lot of mics. I don’t see how you would be able to connect 4 receivers and still have individual gain control for each channel. Doing this method you’d only be able to connect 2 receivers for a total of 4 mics. Technically you can connect 4 receivers but you would only be able to connect into the zoom h6 1 per channel. And you would still have control of the channels but they would be a mono signal. I get what you are trying to do but you would need something that offers more inputs like the zoom h8

    @santiagoriveropresenta 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The problem with this is - your rode 2 is still overblowing the input as you tap it and then sends the overblown input into the zoom, then the zoom is just lowering the volume. Yes, it will be quite, but all the sound imperfections and artifacts from the initial input in the rode will still be there, just quiet. Just tested it out personally.

    • @itsgussy
      @itsgussy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@santiagoriveropresenta the problem is that you’re leveling your mic by tapping on it, which is the incorrect way of doing so. My example is for visual purpose to see which mic corresponds to the appropriate channel. Tapping on the microphone will cause it to distort because it’s being directly impacted what you need to do is make sure that your mics are leveled on the Main mic in order for you not to have a hot input coming into the zoom or any audio recorder. You can always use a 32 bit float recorder to circumvent this as well and cleaning up the audio in post as you should be doing.

    Yes on zoom h6 you can control different channels but your rode receiver already receivs peaked signal( video time code 6:48...) from transmiter and then sends to zoom h6 so you working with peaked signal on zoom h6 . • @itsgussy
      @itsgussy  ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand what you are saying but the signal isn’t peaking. Peaking is RED, that’s yellow. It is close to peaking, which is what I assume you meant. It is also showing “hot” in order to visually explain the method here. Also the peaking is from me tapping forcefully directly on the mic so you can see the channel variance. If your audio is clipping when recording you might have you camera to AGC or your levels might not be setup properly

I believe it was the smallest cores (3mm?) which worked with the cable. Clip on coiled cable at both ends. This seems to have completely eliminated the noise.

  • @mww-ew6oz
    @mww-ew6oz ปีที่แล้ว

    If your levels are too high, you're risking clipping, at which point, turning down the volume in the H6 won't save you. In that sense, it's not giving you actual level control.
    It'd be far more ideal to use a proper lav into something like a Zoom F2, then connect your mic input on your Rode Wireless GO II to the headphone out on the F2 and set your levels with the F2 headphone volume controls.
    Absent that, you'd want something else, including your H6, with proper gain control in front of your transmitter, not behind it.
    That way, you're actually controlling your gain levels, rather than just setting your volume after processing.
    Otherwise, you're increasing your risk of clipping, since you're focusing on the levels being attenuated by the H6, as opposed to the actual levels being processed by the transmitter and receiver.

      Depends, if you download the audio from the Rode you can export 32 bit float, and if you use the Zoom H6 Audio you can export at the highest settings available

    Excellent video! Tomorrow my RODE wireless GO 2 arrive and a few days ago I bought the zoom H8. I would like to connect them like you, but I would like to know if it generates any kind of interference noise or hiss when recording? Thank you very much! and sorry for my english

      Excellent. No hiss or noise Interference. También hablo español. Solamente crea Interferencia si conectas el Rode Receiver directo al zoom usando la entrada 1/8. La interferencia es creada por el tamaño de el cable. Solamente necesitas agarrar un cable más largo y re resuelve

    Again, this aspect is a HUGE fail on Rode's part. Your solution is great, but not the best for the one-man band shooter,. Too much additional gear. So, here's the real, expensive "solution" - Get a second Rode Wireless kit. Sucks, but that seems to be the only way to get that independent control, without bringing a separate audio mixer / recorder into the mix. Also, eliminates possibility of 1 voice distorting within the Rode receiver...

    • @itsgussy
      @itsgussy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Rode could have done better. Interesting so you’re suggesting the same setup except instead of a Zoom mic it would another Rode kit?
