    I'm a guitarist for a CCM church that plays blues in my spare time, and this video is great for better understanding ways to improvise with my keyboard player, whether it's between songs or during interludes. A lot of the licks and passes you play here are really familiar, enough that I have a much better idea where to dig in my back of tricks for backing up and playing off of keys. It's very cool to know when I can find flat-7th and blues licks that go well in CCM setting. Thanks!

      Thank you for your comment! My current challenge is locking with the guitarist at my church! They are used to playing full barre chords and heavy reverb that gets in the way sometimes.

    Try this… instead of hitting the 4, go to Ab…. So the right hand should play, while holding the “C” in the left… C, Bb, Ab, THEN the 5 chord (5 over 4, or vise versa) then back to the one.

    This probably won’t make any sense but this is literally what i played this morning
    What i always do when i’m in a CCM moment is i try to keep it major so i’d play the 3-4….then the 5-6….then 7-1…. If the atmosphere shifts then i go to the Flat-7, then the 4, just like you did, but i’d add a 6-1…then repeat…but my church is a little more old school so i’d repeat the Flat 7 and the 4, 6-1 and make it sound churchy….
    So this morning i think we were in Eb so i did a C# chord, then A flat chord, then 6-1 (so that’d be C-Eb)
    THEN we have a 45 minute praise break

    Please what does CCM mean and how is it different from gospel?

    • @derrickblakely2626
      @derrickblakely2626 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @King Danisan, The acronym for CCM is Contemporary Christian Music. This style of music is fused with rock, pop, and country. Gospel music leans more toward congregational style, and hymns. Gospel music is used in many forms depending on how the musical arrangements are played. You may be familiar with words to a song, but the instrumentation may be different from what you hear. The message to the song may never changed, but the method of playing different. I hope this makes sense to you.

      If I can humbly add on to Derrick’s response, CCM is guitar driven and focuses on sus chords and Gospel is keys driven and uses dominant and diminished chords!
      This is a surface level answer on the difference between the two!

    • @DeyquanBowens
      @DeyquanBowens  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! Add chords don't have the 7th in them, add chords are just triads with an added note! Here's a video that can help you out! th-cam.com/video/p_eDMFnYEBA/w-d-xo.html

    • @nixonkutz3018
      @nixonkutz3018 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DeyquanBowens Ah got it now, thanks! So is it true (or at least common) that without "sus" or "add," when you see 9,11,13 that implies the 7th also? That's what I have come to understand, but I could have that wrong. So C9 would arguably be the same as C7 add 9 (or even C7 add 2 depending on how you voiced the D)

    Why do y'all call the church with black people " The Gospel Church" how did that come about? It confuses me coz I mean almost all churches preach The Gospel if u know what I mean

      I agree but that’s how the music industry names it. To prevent further confusion, it’s best to label it CCM and Gospel!

      Just a reference to the style of music done at churches with predominantly black people, white people etc.

    CCM? What denomination is CCM?

    • @DeyquanBowens
      @DeyquanBowens  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m pretty sure it’s Non- Denominational

      CCM is a genre of worship music. CCM has turned into a culture sort of like Hip Hop. Pastors who primarily performs CCM in their church have a certain preaching style that differs from a Pastor who primarily performs Gospel music.

    economy is key - try not to duplicate any notes in a chord

      True! Sometimes doubled notes add some thickness though!
