Cleveland stadium. July 79. Scorpions, acdc, journey, thin lizzy, ted nugent, aerosmth. And , music hall in july 1980. Def leppard, scorpions, judas priest
Wow, Lucinda Williams. Couldn't tell which one of you picked her, but love her album 'Car Wheels on a Gravel Road'. Great drinking album, when you want to get low.
1. Yes - Relayer tour, Nassau Coliseum 2. Rush - Hemispheres tour, Nassau Coliseum* 3. Rush - Permanent Waves tour, Nassau Coliseum 4. Be Bop Deluxe, Drastic Plastic tour - Calderone Concert Hall 5. Chicago/Beach Boys - Madison Sq Garden 1975 * - local faves The Good Rats opened. Guitarist John Gatto had an early wireless guitar and he left the stage during a long guitar solo and appeared in a doorway at the top level of the arena with a spotlight on him, still wailing away.
Black Sabbath on the Dehumanizer tour in Oakland, CA 1992...Van Halen, Diver Down - Knoxville, TN 1982...Priest on the Ram It Down tour, with Slayer opening, Long Beach, CA..1988...Priest..with Dave Holland...blew Slayer off the stage then they were off the tour..the next night it was Cinderella opening at Irvine..I was there too...Dio at Irvine on the eve of Dream Evil...he started when it was still daylight...set off a ton of pyro...way bigger than anything from Kiss...I thought he was going to blow up the stage...then the sun started to set and they did Sunset Superman...and there we were...thinking that this moment in time was meant for only us...and that we as a collective with Ronnie were about to transcend to a new consciousness that was on a plane higher than the rest of society because we knew something and experienced something that people dream about...that point where you don't care about dropping out, and existing in some metaphysical reality that has no use for the administrative hearings...where you find yourself on high to angels of henjanova ..the true reality that reduces any naysayers into a whirlpool of denial...then there were the spiders......
If you pick Priest as your opening act you should know what you’re getting! One of the best live HM bands, particularly back then. Tbh Cinderella we’re a great live band too but perhaps not we’ll suited to a Slayer audience😂
@@parishofrock2963 Slayer opened for Priest and Long Beach CA had a bunch of Slayer fans booing Priest...but then Priest dropped Sinner on them third song in ...and that just shut them up...I'm not kidding....Cinderella opened for Priest the next night
2nd set of five (this is it I promise) 5) summer of '79. Graham Parker and the Rumor with Rachel Sweet. Probably the most fun I've had at a show without knowing any of the music. I went based solely on the cover of Rachel Sweet's album where she's wearing a leather jacket to big for her. 4) an evening with Supertramp Sept '83 at the Rosemont Horizon Chicago. 3) Mark Knopfler at the Britt Gardens Jacksonville Oregon July 28th '05. Sitting on the lawn about 15' away. The whole time thinking to myself "that's how he does that"... 2) Quiet Riot sometime in '84 at the University of Guam field house. Two notable things happened that night. The governor of Guam got hit by a beer bottle trying to introduce the band (oddly enough the closest I've ever been to a riot at a show). And the opening act was a band who had already spent a few weeks on the island playing a residency at a club called the pescador. They were called 'City Kidd', and would soon be renamed Tesla. 1) March 27 1979 at the Jackson County Expo in Medford Oregon. Van Halen. Spent the whole time thinking "how does he do that?" 🎸🔊🎶
Outstanding show fella's. One for the vault. I have something in common with Rand that I got to see the shows put on by 'Bill Graham Presents' in Northern California. My era for those shows was the 80's & 90's. I'm gonna cheat and list five Bill Grahm promoted gigs and then five from elsewhere. 5) April 24 & 25 1987 at the Cow Palace in Daly City Ca. Shows #15 & 16 of the Joshua Tree tour U2. Lone Justice opened. 4) Saw ZZ Top twice for Recycler. The 2nd time was at Spartan Stadium in San Jose with Steve Miller Band, Extreme, and Eric Johnson. Love ZZ, but Steve Miller stole the show and gave a master class in crowd control. (people were getting crushed up front) 3) Day on the Green Aug 2nd '81. REO Speedwagon (for High Infidelity), Kansas, UFO, Gamma, .38Special. Kansas was by far the best that day. 2) Mtn. Air Festival. Calaveras county fairgrounds, Angel's Camp Ca. The Doobies, Toto, Ambrosia, Huey Lewis and the News. Toto was sh*t hot and rockin', but the Doobies were definitely the head liner. 1) Day on the Green May 27th '89. Grateful Dead, John Fogerty, Tracey Chapman, Joe Satriani, Los Lobos, Tower of Power. John Fogerty's was the best set I've ever heard. Oh, and his band was Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Randy Jackson on bass, Steve Jordan drums. It was the first time he play CCR songs in the Bay Area since the 70's. He played Centerfield from an actual center field at Oakland stadium. My favorite song that day was The Midnight Special.

What a line-up at that Cleveland show in 1979! WOW!

Great list. Particularly would have loved to see BeBop Deluxe

Thanks. Great list. Loved to have seen REO at their peak.
I have many, but should have a show on most disappointing concerts, or big let downs from our heroes!!!
