Imo praising him for "doing it for his cat" is a bit too much, he probably won't be using it since it is easier to just carry the cat down instead, he needs to be there to make it work after all. Hopefully he will upgrade it so the cat can trigger it somehow and make a few improvements here and there.
I recently saw a vid of a man who built an elevator with an infra red on/off trigger on the cat's collar. This way kitty did not need a human nearby to use it. This elevator is priceless. I applaud your dedication to the needs of your wonderful senior gentleman cat Frodo! 👏💙🙏

Interesting thing, though, is that cats tend to develop arthritis in their tail and hind legs as they age. So an elevator for such an elderly cat makes complete sense. Age-related joint problems can lead to all sorts of issues for elderly cats, like litterbox access. I've got joint problems of my own, so I know how it can feel when regular things are no longer accessible. It sucks, yo. Things like elevators, low-opening litterboxes, raised food and water dishes, and other such amenities can be crucial for providing an elderly cat with the comfort they need later on in life.
This was adorable. All you need is a way for the cat to turn it on himself and possibly a side entrance so his tail can't get caught on the tracks. XD My dog used to nose a bell that was hanging on the back door knob when she needed to go out. Wait, use a motion sensor! If it is triggered it waits 5 seconds and has a timer to prevent it from being triggered again within a couple of minutes.
I think a preassure censor should do the trick like the one michael reeves made when he made the chair that you can’t sit on when the cat lies or sits on it the lift moves Placement wise at the edge away from the entrance should be okay

All you need to do is give it a sensor so it knows when Frodo is on it, and five seconds or something after it feels movement stop (to allow him to safely sit down) it goes by itself. Then Frodo could actually use it without someone having to press the button all the time. If it felt movement it could stop again so it would never trap his tail or something
@@ishywon03 I said sensor to mean anything that could detect Frodo being on it, whether that be weight scale, camera, etc. A weight scale would still detect movement, as you'll know if you've ever walked on the spot on human scales, the weight goes up and down as you're not still

I'm sure this will give other cat owners the incentive to makeshift something for their cats as well to help them get around easier. After all they give us so much pleasure.......its the least we can do for them.

How is this brilliant? There is no way for the cat to use this by himself. The edges are too high for the cat at his age he just won't hope out of it. The only time this could be used if he helped the cat and put him in it and turned it on, just like in the video. But instead, he could just carry the cat much faster. The whole thing was junk.

I had my 21 year old cat Clio put down a few months back because of health problems. But I relate so hard to you just doing extra things to make your senior kittizen more happy and comfortable! What a great way to make sunbathing easier. when Clio went blind we made a point of never putting anything new on the floor so she wouldn’t get confused and always new where she was.
I’m so surprised at how fearless Frodo is of that machine, my cat would take weeks to even get within ten feet of it. Liam’s Great videos & inventions are always the best way to spend 5-10 minutes.

But even if a button could be accessed from both ends it would be easy to train cat to push it on.
That is my concern as well. Trouble is that a human has to be present to make it work. The cat can't be autonomous with it.

I’m so surprised at how fearless Frodo is of that machine, my cat would take weeks to even get within ten feet of it. Liam’s Great videos & inventions are always the best way to spend 5-10 minutes.
I think Frodo is just so chill that anything and everything comes across as yet another thing to be chill about.
