Just watched this video, very nicely put together. I cheated and bought one of Peter’s ready built nodes that I am really happy with. The most surprising part of the video for me, was that I was the contact you made, so 73 from Ken M0KJW
The gpio pins do not have safety (feed back or wild power return) on them best to power pi over the power cable connected to the dcto dc down connected direct
Is AllStar and HubNet the same thing? I accessed via a repeater GB3SJ and ended up in Weston Supermare but didnt need to key in any tones at my end to access...? More reading required. Cheers.
I built the node. But unless I use my external attic antenna the system does not work. It will keep keying itself over and over, and won't respond when I key it with my handheld. Any reason why having the antenna close like that would mess with the wires going between the bf888s and the cm108? My guess is a voltage being generated on the wire when it goes into TX mode.

Good job! You can fix the buck converter with double-sided sticky tape or some silicon rubber.
Or adhesive pads.

Great project. Maybe its just me, but that blinking blue light seems unnecessary and pretty annoying. No?
