Are people really saying Frankel beat nothing? Haha! Here's a little stat for you that I figured out at the end of the 2015 Flat season. The two best horses of 2015 (Golden Horn & American Pharoh - A Derby & Arc winner this side of the Atlantic, and a Triple Crown winner the other side of the pond) combined in their life times won 16 races from 20 starts. They beat 27 individual G1 winners, who between them won 52 G1s. Frankel by himself won 14 races from 14 starts. He beat 25 individual G1 winners, who between them won 62 G1s.
In England he won everything. ..sure here in ireland we have horses that wins derby's and few groups 1.just for fun..but they that don't mean nothing. .it's like seathestars he came against the best in ireland then he went to prove what he could do aboard ...sure o brien have a horse now that can do 48 miles an hour on gallops that's faster than frankel ..donto be fooled at all lad ..leave to Japan and breeders cup .that's when the horse is the best
I worked out Frankels time compared with Secretariats on turf. Hard to get it exactly right due to obvious reasons like firmness of the turf but knowing Englands and the US, Englands would of been a much slower track. Even adding some seconds onto Frankels time his time is better than Secretariats over a mile and a half. Secretariats raced over a Mile and a Quarter on turf in his second to last race in 144 seconds. Frankel raced a mile in 97 seconds on slower ground. Even adding 2 seconds onto Frankels time he still beats secretariat by a second. If you work out how long it would take Frankel to do those extra furlongs. -
From a standing start Frankel covered the 1st furlong in 13.5s, the 2nd in 11.5, 3rd 11.0s 4th 11.0s and 5th in 11.5. he went Gr1 sprinters pace for 5 furlongs, the back to back 11.0 sec furlongs saw him cover 20yds each and every second, almost the size of a cricket pitch every second. The Palace house 5F who was won by Tangerine Trees earlier and whose time over 5f was a second slower than Frankel. Yes his last 3 furlongs were slower but he was running into a headwind and out on his own.
Watching the Frankel races in a rather lacklustre classic /Gr. 1 year in British racing in 2019; the moment when Frankel was properly unleashed unto racing fans is without doubt the 2000 guineas & from then the performances that has become legend ; and yet to be surpassed in any country / hemisphere in both jaw dropping performances or brilliance.
Loved horseracing for 50 years and seen many wonderful and amazing horses flat and NH but this was just way above everything else Nobody could stop it winning or running the way it did that day
The best flat race horse performance I have ever seen. I remember watching the race live on television and it was unbelievable how he destroyed the rest of the field. The Guineas are usually closely contested but this stamped Frankel as one of the greats
That win is the best display of sheer speed and free running I have ever seen. It would have been only the greatest of horses that could have kept up with him, if any. Remarkable.
I always come back to this race , the moment when Frankel made his name and all became clear... You'll never see a guineas won like this ever again , pause the video at 58 second d and just smile in admiration. What a horse plenty good uns have come after his retirement but none as special as this one !
The best miler I have ever seen and will ever likely to see, he is 15 length clear! Look at his unbeaten Group 1 record. no one would even come close to this amazing superstar.
The greatest 8f-10f horse I have seen in well over 30 years. As he developed his career he demolished Canford Cliffs, a horse that had demolished a two time Breeders Cup winner. He sauntered over SNA with effortless ease, a Breeders Cup winner & beat the top class Excelebration countless times by many lengths, a horse that was barely beat a length in the Breeders Cup mile from a bad draw & on unfavourable ground. Frankels form is rock solid & anyone who tries to crab him is truly one sad individual who knows fuck all about racing at any level.
+Paul Orchid Would not say Canford Cliff Demolished Goldikova, she was beaten 1L, but Olivier Pelier put up 2Ib over WGT that day on Goldikova so she lost her mares allowance - 2Ib equate to 1L over a mile, add to that Flash Dance kept crossing Goldikova pushing her wide - not a lot between those 2 horses, but that's not taking anything away from the great Frankel, just goes to show what a monster he was.
Well said Paul. The naysayers are either completely jealous of our U.K. machine or genuinely stupid. Either way I don’t have time for them, no point arguing with idiots. After a while you can’t tell who the idiot is!
Fankel would've beaten Canford Cliffs anyway, but to say he demolished him is unfair. Canford Cliffs went lame 1 1/2f out and went so far left he would've finished in Crawley had the rails and stands not been there. I liked Canford Cliffs, but loved Frankel. If you're gonna be inflammatory, be right
Just been sitting with my pissed off Sunday night face on and came across this race, better than any alcohol or narcotics. Best racing performance ever and am a national hunt fan, it knocked off my favourite all time race ever Viking Flagships win at Aintree 1995 with the jockeys missing cap again the same thing happened at Cheltenham in what was my second favourite race. Surely my top 3 can't be beaten
I've seen this probably 20 times now and still brings a tear to my eye. A true champion. He just loves to gallop. Best flat racehorse EVER and that's from people who have been around for a lot longer than I have!
How can anybody who truly loves horse racing hate Frankel, regardless of which horse you support. The people who hit the dislike button should be ashamed of themselves - No logical reason to do that on a horse that as never been beaten and put in some outstanding performances over 3 seasons.
I said to my old dad years ago the very first time i saw frankel run and told him "dad you have just witnessed the greatest horse u will ever see" he laughed at me that day my old man but i got last laugh never see another frankel what a horse ❤
4. Above all of these what matters most of all is the impression a horse leaves you before and after the race. Frankel every race was highly awaited with interest, starting from his 3rd race in career and he was always able to exceed the hype that people created before the raced This video we're on is probably the best demonstration of a horse fascinating class which was with 2-3 levels above anything in his time. To judge him we need to go back in time and judge him against the best of the best
Can this performance ever be beaten or matched ......impossible he's beaten the best 3year odds Europe has to offer with 4furlongs still to travel this is the best horse the world has ever seen
Still my favourite race. Frankel was all about speed and a sprint finish. To run away form them like that is crazy but he did it. One of the best ever commentators to...he's 15 lengths clear!
never in the horse racing history a horse like Frankel existed who could perform to the same devastating level each time of asking. He is the greatest of them all, his form was still franked this year by past adversaries who continued to win G1 races and most likely you and me will never see a machine like Frankel ever again. Thats the sad thing. The good thing is that he's at stud and trying to replicate a horse of his talent!
It's between this, the Queen Anne or the Juddmonte for me... probably biased towards the Juddmonte because I was there. But, all his performances were breath-taking. Making horseracing for the masses. Brilliant.
I had the the pleasure of being sat in the restaurant right on the winning line that day (ham hock starter was lovely.) people were so overawed by the dominance of Frankel it was a really strange atmosphere until the race was over. Then we all realised we had just witnessed live something very very special.
I said it before:you know absolutely nothing if you think the horse is out of control, not to mention the fact that you're trying to CRAB a horse by saying it BOLTED, yet won a Group 1 by 7 lengths. You're either drink-addled or trolling. Probably one of those punters that backs horses all his life yet absorbs absolutely jack shit about the game. Your posts defy logic.
How typical of the late, great sir Henry cecil to give us all the greatest race horse as he retired from his life, my only regret was that my dad wasn't around to see this rare phenomenon in action, when we were kids we had to call him Henry cecil whenever he put his hat on, I think he thought he realy was the great man cos without a shadow of doubt he was his greatest fan, if he was ever late home my mum would say 'I bet Cecil's had a couple of winners' and then he'd come through the door doing his best to stand up shouting 'Henry cecil is God . . Such happy days filled with wonderful memories
There's only 1 frankel but there's a couple of others worth having a look at, not a patch on frankel but good to watch winx and pakistan stars first race check it out
Here's a quote from Andrew Beyer on Frankel's 2000gns. "He sped off to a 15-length lead and buried the field with a performance that was as visually impressive as a racehorse can deliver. Runaway wins can sometimes be deceptive, but Frankel has verified his quality by the margins with which he defeats rivals of unquestionable high quality" That must include Belmont then :-)
If you look at the 2000 Guineas for example, Frankel ran the 1st 6f in roughly 1:09 too but was dying on his arse in the last 2F (still an impressive performance). Secretariat had 6F still to run after doing 1:09 for the 1st 6F and accelerated all the way to the line. That's the difference, people that saw the 1973 Belmont thought Sec's pace was suicidal (for most horses it would be) but he was a total machine.
2.The derby is a race over 12 furlongs which Frankel's trainer, the late Sir Henry Cecil, said he doesn't stay and will never be tested on such stamina race. Frankel had more speed but also had stamina who could allow him a sustained fast pace for couple of furlongs putting any adversary in trouble, like he did with every top class horse he met.
jetshockey5 What's the point of such rudeness? People are entitled to an opinion, without such insults. Too much of this nonsense on youtube. Do you go round calling people idiot and bitch to their faces simply cos you don't agree with them when they're doing no harm?
jetshockey5 Thank you for taking the time to comment on my post. Just a couple of things I would like to correct you on. Firstly I said that Frankel is the best horse I have ever seen (in my opinion). That is something you cannot dispute because you do not know what other horses I have seen. Secondly the Rowley mile track that the Quineas is raced on undulates (goes up and down to you) for its whole distance and uphill for the last furlong to the finish.Take care and all the best.

Some people just hit the dislike for no reason. Anybody who watches horses knows this is a masterpiece.
Maybe they backed Dubawi Gold
Ally Wildgoose
Not just Dubawi Gold, but every horse who ever ran against him.
could not agree more
It’s just some weird nationalistic thing. As if horses have a passport.
The most devastating performance ever seen in a Classic.
To love horseracing AND be alive to see Frankel's career... What a result!
A privilege to have seen him run .
But at the bushes Frankel is 15lengths clear!!
That sums it up quite nicely.
MrSmid888 but at the bush is Frankel, he's 15 lengths clear..!! 🤔😏
When he says that it perfectly reflects what I think at that point of the race every time haha “he’s FIFTEEN. Lengths clear!”
15 lengths clear?? What race was he watching??
@@wawawutosnftbs8922 agreed Frankel was under 10 lengths clear at the bushes
The finest horse I've ever seen a freak of nature in the best way possible! What an Animal and for Henry Cecil to have trained him perfect!
Il never forget this, ever.
Feels like yesterday..still can't believe he stayed on either
Can this performance ever be beaten or matched ......impossible he's beaten the best 3year odds Europe has to offer with 4furlongs still to travel this is the best horse the world has ever seen
10 years ago today,What a Horse!
Still my favourite race. Frankel was all about speed and a sprint finish. To run away form them like that is crazy but he did it. One of the best ever commentators to...he's 15 lengths clear!
Never tire of seeing this horse him and the gr8 sir henry cecil were an extraordinary partnership jus glad igot to see it ....
never in the horse racing history a horse like Frankel existed who could perform to the same devastating level each time of asking.
He is the greatest of them all, his form was still franked this year by past adversaries who continued to win G1 races and most likely you and me will never see a machine like Frankel ever again. Thats the sad thing. The good thing is that he's at stud and trying to replicate a horse of his talent!
Born On This Day - 11th February 2008
Happy 9th Birthday, to one of the greatest flat horses ever,
FRANKEL
It's a crying shame that this is the commentary we have to suffer eternally for such a glorious race
What a fantastic job the great sir henry done with frankle an amazing trainer and an amazing animal true legends of the turf
That was somethin’ really special🐴🔥
It's between this, the Queen Anne or the Juddmonte for me... probably biased towards the Juddmonte because I was there. But, all his performances were breath-taking. Making horseracing for the masses. Brilliant.
Juddmonte was at York, which is probably the best racecourse.. as in the (truest test of speed in the world).
Man this horse gives me goosebumps
That is unbelievable you will never see anything like that again!
I had the the pleasure of being sat in the restaurant right on the winning line that day (ham hock starter was lovely.) people were so overawed by the dominance of Frankel it was a really strange atmosphere until the race was over. Then we all realised we had just witnessed live something very very special.
His Queen Anne performance when he beat about 7 GP1 winners 11 lengths is the greatest performance ever seen on a racecourse.
Very true
Best 2000 guineas performance anybody will ever see
The greatest performance I've ever seen from a racehorse....
THANK YOU john e, you obviously know your racing.
This is my once a week viewing
I was at that meeting. Just watched in awe
How typical of the late, great sir Henry cecil to give us all the greatest race horse as he retired from his life, my only regret was that my dad wasn't around to see this rare phenomenon in action, when we were kids we had to call him Henry cecil whenever he put his hat on, I think he thought he realy was the great man cos without a shadow of doubt he was his greatest fan, if he was ever late home my mum would say 'I bet Cecil's had a couple of winners' and then he'd come through the door doing his best to stand up shouting 'Henry cecil is God . . Such happy days filled with wonderful memories
amazing to watch this horse at work
There's only 1 frankel but there's a couple of others worth having a look at, not a patch on frankel but good to watch winx and pakistan stars first race check it out
Why I shed a tear when I watch this I don’t know.
Best of all time
I went to this race xxxx outstanding horse what a racing class
Never seen a race like that before you will never see another like him
Why didn’t franker run the derby?
Still watching this in 2019
So passati 15 anni..io non l ho mai piu rivisto un cavallo vince cosi!❤❤❤❤❤
Holy moley! To quote Penny Chenery, Frankel "...just felt like running."
Must of watched this about 100 times :)
That's the difference, people that saw the 1973 Belmont thought Sec's pace was suicidal (for most horses it would be) but he was a total machine.
glad that ray ray know his racing oh what a knowledge he has,an all time great bless him
2.The derby is a race over 12 furlongs which Frankel's trainer, the late Sir Henry Cecil, said he doesn't stay and will never be tested on such stamina race. Frankel had more speed but also had stamina who could allow him a sustained fast pace for couple of furlongs putting any adversary in trouble, like he did with every top class horse he met.
Frankel is quite clearly the best horse ever. I cant believe all the haters on here
Definitely the best on the flat I have ever seen in my lifetime (I'm 44).
jetshockey5 What's the point of such rudeness? People are entitled to an opinion, without such insults. Too much of this nonsense on youtube. Do you go round calling people idiot and bitch to their faces simply cos you don't agree with them when they're doing no harm?
mizofan Well said and thanks.
jetshockey5 Thank you for taking the time to comment on my post.
+jetshockey5 I horse that runs on dirt will never be considered the best ever, that surface is shit
Simply the best ever
