I've made quite a few diaper cakes in different shapes and sizes, I always wrap the roll in the centre with gift wrap first so that when it's disassembled it looks more attractive. I also use coloured string or thin ribbon to keep diapers in place and take the rubber bands off.
It came out so beautiful!(: I've always wanted to make these for friends and family but haven't gotten around to it. I love the way you chose to decorate it!

To answer your question, I have not taken any classes whatsoever and am completely self taught with the exception of watching a generic diaper cake tutorial years ago about how to stack diapers to form the cake shape. I have crafted since I was a small child but my projects have just gotten bigger over the years & I wasn’t always as good!
