Watching a number of these broken cable videos lead me to believe these are fatigue failures. Many flexes cause the cable to crack. Solution: engage the cable only once per day. If you come to a place where you would stop the blades from turning (loose rocks, etc.), just leave them turn and raise the deck to clear instead.

Great video brother. My cub cadet xt1’s pto cable got caught in the wheel while using it to plow snow and it broke in half. Hope this works

Mine won't come out of bracket right after the lever part was removed. Any ideas? Mines old and rubber is hardened.
Try soaking it with liquid wrench, try see if you can put some leverage on it with a screwdriver
