I’ve never really identified with my tropical sign, Scorpio. Even factoring in my ascendant (also Scorpio) and moon (Cancer). Turns out my sidereal is Libra, which makes SO much more sense for me.

You all - can (also) see, what happens in a “Helio-centric” mode of perspective… In it, - the Sun - is in the centre, of the chart. So, the Earth - gains a sign, too (opposite - to the Sun one).

And let me say. The sidereal is waaaay more accurate.
I always related a lot to Cancer and the Moon and never understood why, then I found out my sidereal sign is Cancer and not the tropical Leo. And when I showed my mom her sidereal birth chart she also related a lot and made much more sense than the tropical one. I only use sidereal astrology now.

Makes sense that I’m a Taurus instead of a Gemini. My personality is a lot more laid back, quiet and I enjoy quiet and peace. Virgo moon and Gemini rising
S See Taurus doesn’t feel right to me at all just yet, but according to Sidereal that’s where I belong.. I connect with other Gemini’s and Gemini energy makes sense to me. I love Taurus energy but I don’t feel like a Taurus Sun at all.

I did somewhat resonate with my Tropical chart until I discovered by Vedic/Sidereal chat and then it became much more clear!
I never related to my moon and ascendant placements. In tropical I was an Aries but in sidereal I’m Pisces, which makes more sense to me. I always resonated more with Pisces along my journey of knowing myself through astrology.

I'm still kind of torn between sidereal and tropical... I mean using the constellations definitely makes more sense too me since that's what the signs are based on. However, when comparing the two charts side by side they both can make sense.

I feel I carry the characteristics more of my sidereal sign than my tropical sign.
I find sidereal to be pretty accurate. I got into it only because of my friend who told me to try it. And i did. And so i used it for me and this person i know who is an aquarius. Im a virgo. So i always wondered why we connect when normally those two signs dont get along. Turns out, in sidereal astrology me n her have the same rising sign(taurus) and moon sign of (gemini). Literally blew my mind

I can't relate at all with the sidereal astrology. It changes my signs that represent characteristics that are nothing like me. It makes me feel like it's worthless for me to even study... The tropical astrology signs ring much truer to myself.

Thank you Athen, i appreciate what you are saying. I have been ordering readings from you periodically for a year now. My experience has shown the following results i personally felt 1. Your description of the transits and their meaning for the signs and houses is intuitive and helpful 2. The transits as they occur in tropical as well as doing charts for others has shown that the profile seems to be almost identical in nature, i believe because if the birth time is accurate then the houses are right. Having accurate house placement seems to be the key. 3. That being said, your readings are occasionally right on target, psychologically but the days are off. It either happens a few days before the subject transit, or not at all. Sometimes i find, unfortunately, that your reading is of little help when I am dealing with an passing transit. I'm sorry to say that, you can delete my comment if it's uncomfortable, but I've spent a lot of money on both tropical and sidereal, mostly sidereal, but the tropical readings and more accurate when it comes to a personal use of a reading, not the collective readings. Your collective readings work generally reflect what's happening on the macro level. The micro; not so much. I'm not sure why this is, maybe since the control of the plasmatic energies is in the very hands of those who have constructed our seasonal calendar so we are going to be mor2 likely affected by that than the actual positions of the planets in the sky, they also being subject to these hijacking powers.

Music Alchemy, you bring up a very good point... this Calendar deception has affected the masses since at least 1583. Consider how many generations that is! We've been duped, but it's time now to reverse the effect. And how do we do that? It's not going to be by studying each others personalities based on a birth date that doesn't even count! Our influence over others is (for now) the greatest power that we know, so consider the implications if the 99% are hooked on Tropical Astrology based on a solar calendar flaw. Moon is primary. With science & astronomy captivating the masses lately, it seems like an easy switch to real-time Sidereal Astrology, but oh no, they might lose a lot of friends over it. SAD FACE ;'(
Agree ! Sidereal very interesting but it seems like the folks who originally constructed western tropical made a deal with some unseen forces to create this deception,if you will,tropical astrology system.

This is why I always put much more weight into planetary aspects and planets in houses rather than planets in signs. For example, I know people who are much more Scorpionic/Plutonic because of hard aspects to Pluto in tight orbs, Pluto conjunct the angles or planets in the 8th House than people who just have Sun Moon or Rising in Scorpio. I would rank 1) planetary aspects 2) planets in houses and 3) planets in signs in order of importance.
So what i get here is that sidereal is more scientific because it relies on actual astronomy and the other sytems rely on a model chart that was made in early civilisations.
I like the fact that the aspects are the same cause i really like them in my birth chart.

Everyone on this section seems to be commenting on how much they personally connect with either system. That's understandable that people would first consider this concept on a personal level. But I gotta say, sidereal astrology seems uncannily accurate from an observational perspective. The more I think about it, damn near everyone I know born under earth signs in tropical astrology is super energetic, domineering and aggressive, surprise, surprise, most of them become fire signs in sidereal. Same thing with tropical water sign people I know, they're always super chatty, eccentric and kind of high strung. What dou you know, they all become air signs in sidereal. Then most of the tropical fire sign people I know tend to be really moody, sentimental and whimsical, gasp! all water signs in sidereal. And to top it off, tropical air sign people I know usually tend to be really serious minded, reserved home bodies. They all become earth signs in sidereal.
I really love your site and your views on all of this. It makes a lot of sense to me more so than all the other systems. I found out I am a Virgo Sun and Virgo ascendant with the planets Mercury and Pluto all in the First House :) So cool!

Thank you for making this video Athen! :) So well timed, I must say, since right now there’s literally a war going on in the astrology community about which system is right, thanks to Sam Geppi and Kapiel Raaaj shamming the tropical system to which Vic DiCara and Ryan from Ashville Vedic Astrology responded by making videos defending it. I was hoping at least one of them acknowledges the “true sidereal” system but am glad you explained it pretty well.
I’ve been interested in astrology for as long as I can remember and the tropical system describes me as a scorpion ascendent, Sun in Pisces and Moon in Leo which I’m so not!! The vedic system says I am a Libra ascendent with an Aquarius Sun and Cancer Moon... I didnt quite resonate bigtime with that either. I’m too critical and opinionated for a Libran and call a spade a spade. After I started practicing astronomy, I realised you gave me the most precise reading ever! I AM a Virgo Ascendent with my Sun in Aquarius and Moon in Cancer. I agree that the Vedic Nakshatra system is very precise though, strangely, they insist I am Swati (Arcturus) rising but Swati is not in Libra but in Virgo so thats them contradicting their own system! :D
I’m all for precision, perfection (probably the Virgo in me) and factuality (an Aquarius trait, I feel) and I must say, hands down, I found that with you! 💗 Once you go true sidereal, you never go back!

i just discovered my true sidereal chart with calculator of Mastering by the zodiac and it 's really much better than my vedic and tropical i'm leo sun ( virgo/leo) and Libra/scorpio rising cuspides and its really much more me than my vedic and tropical; I prefer my draconic chart( Aquarius sun ,really me!) and my true sidereal chart( definitely me)!!

Apparently My sun sign is actually Leo According to sidereal. But my tropical sun sign is Virgo. I relate way more to Virgo than Leo though.
You can't just watch the position of the Sun to determine all your qualities. The whole birth chart must be seen.
Nevena Ranković Nah I have the same deal. My Sidereal Rising and Sun is Taurus but for my Tropical Rising and Sun it’s Gemini. I embody an enormous amount of Gemini traits. Of course we’re not only our sun sign but I can almost tell you my family and friends will vouch that I posses no Taurean traits.

there's a reason it's the most heavily used. i feel like people who say they find sidereal more accurate just don't understand the additive qualities of astrology charts, they always just say things like "i never identified with x sun sign" - well you aren't just your sun sign, people, the interactions of the entirety of the chart must be considered simultaneously.
I always followed tropical astrology. Vedic confused me because all of the Indian names. This explanation really made me want to learn true siderial. Plus, I'm a Leo in tropical; but, a Cancer in siderial, like you said! I'm older and set in my ways. I'm surprised at how interesting you made it seem! Yes it is,it's funny,i was into astrology when I was 6,and growing up by my star sign Pisces,it made sense,but as I grew up,the people in my life(family and friends),it just didn't make sense,so I stopped with it.it wasn't until I came home from school the history channel was on and talking about Nostradamus and his 13 sign astrology he used,i looked into it and the dates.i was still a Pisces,but then it made sense for my sister's,who were talkative and loved hanging out and just talked up a storm(since their Geminis not cancers),my mom and I have a very close connection spiritually and emotionally,and she's supposed to be a Leo,but in actuality loves family,always loves to babysit and take care of others and under this sidereal she would be a cancer,and so are the majority of my friends,that and Sagittarius(western they would be Capricorn),so by looking into sidereal for the past 14 years,i def can attest to how accurate it is

I feel that if you relate to one system more than the other thats fine or you could relate to both. Im a March 29 Aries sun in tropical but a Pisces in Vedic which makes sense after i found out while going through a spiritual breakthrough. I relate to both because I feel they describe my path of duality well with Fire Water. But other people might not relate to their Vedic or Tropical so much at first yet i think shadow work and alignment will highlight that for people along their journey

Yes I know what u mean when you say it’s describing the physical. The universe is an amazing place we know so little. Like you said charts of charts makes sense even looking at math as a sort of metaphor for astrology it makes sense. Fractals
With all due respect, I hear this talk of the signs corresponding to the seasons as a definitive universal rule but little though is given to the fact that seasons are different not only between south and north hemispheres but even between regions of such hemispheres. So for example saying that Aries represents Spring's energy is nothing but a partial truth relevant to only part of the planet. The system maybe a great tool for knowledge and growth, but it's use seems tainted by rampant stereotypes.
My sun is in pisces in tropical astrology but in sidereal its aquarius and I relate way to more to aquarius than pisces I have a lot of aqua friends tho

Thank you for all your efforts and knowledge, but I wish you had made the answer more simple. To me the simple question is: When we were born (modern day humans of now), which type of Astrology describes the actual stars above our heads at the exact time, date, longitude and latitude we were birthed at? Is Tropical correct about the constellation that is truly above us, or is True Sidereal? My understanding is that it is True Sidereal. For one, True Sidereal uses the size of the constellations, not slicing them up into conveniently equi-sized portions like Tropical does - which is totally blurring the lines, is it not as our constellations are not the same size whatsoever? Also, Tropical Astrology did not factor in the precession of the Equinoxes, therefore the sign discrepancy between Tropical and what it actually really is now is potentially off by an entire sign, and is only getting more inaccurate as time goes on....correct? I think talking about the other two aspects (houses and planets) only confuses the discussion unless the discussion is in fact first about what sun sign we are born under, and which tenet, Tropical or True Sidereal, is accurate as far as that goes. I think it is really important, if we want people to subscribe to what is the real constellation (sun sign) above them at their time, place, and date of birth, to just answer the question mentioning those two aspects of why Tropical is inaccurate: The size of the constellations, and the precession of the Equinoxes. I think most people who are not well-versed - such as yourself, do not concern themselves with aspects and planets and houses unless delving into it more than the average person. If I am incorrect, please let me know as this has been my understanding fro some time now, and why I wholeheartedly subscribe now to True Sidereal and not Tropical. Thank you again, Loretta
I’m a Pisces in tropical, but I only resonated with that when I was a tiny kid but honestly most small children have Pisces traits. My sidereal is aquarius which makes sense because tbh im not very emotional and I am more extroverted, intellectual, and not particularly sensitive to myself or others. Also my Mars is in Taurus in tropical which doesn’t make sense because I am often very aggressive and dominant sexually. Turns out my Mars is in Aries in sidereal lol. Oh and also my sidereal rising is libra and I look like a classic libra male so haha makes more sense than Scorpio rising in tropical.

Very interesting points you bring up. I had no idea about sidereal vs true sidereal. Makes sense, because there someone recommended a free chart based on Vedic/sidereal, and I came up with different results compared to the chart system you recommend in your description on these videos. Like I said, this is all new to me, but very fascinating. I think regardless of what system we all use, interpretation is so important, when reading charts.

I agree with you. True Sidereal is more accurate than Vedic. Tropical I can no longer listen to at all because the planets are not where they say they are transiting astronomically. Vedic don't have 100% success, I believe because of the actual size of the constellations, different houses. Degrees???? Degrees interest me. Padas. I love Vedic, but your true Sidereal seems even more accurate to me ie. Vedic, I have RahuR, UranusR and PlutoR in the 10th house of Leo, but your true Sidereal has those planets still in Leo but in the 9th house which rings true with me.

I feel like tropical is better because the sun is what makes life and keeps life moving. Plants grow because of sunlight, the animals eat plants, then humans eat the animals, life is driven by sunlight, I tried many types of astrology and tropical results came out the most accurate
I'm a sun sagittarius in the 8th house for both western and vedic, but my degrees is different. Sun 5degrees(vedic) and 29 degrees tropical.
I used Tropical and Vedic to read my birth chart I was born August 10th, 1988 in Tropical I’m Leo sun & moon in Vedic I’m cancer sun & moon but Pushya Nakrashta Ascendants are completely different Aries by tropical Pisces by Vedic. I’ve checked True Siderial and shows I’m Leo sun Cancer moon & Pisces Ascendant. I believe tropical is excellent for describe an individual in every aspect of life, but for predictions and forecast Vedic is a masterpiece. Wanna try True Siderial if it has both attributes. Thanks.

What I found astounding was that the Egyptian calendar consisted of 12 months with 3 ten day weeks just like the horoscope and the directions of a horoscope with the ascendant on the left is indicative of the Egyptian directions. As the upper Nile was south and the lower Nile was north.
I just started getting into astrology, still a skeptic but I’m always curious. Anyway. Tropical says I’m Aquarius and I don’t think I connect with it as much as being a Capricorn in Sidereal. I’m actually a Capricorn ascendant with my sun, moon, Venus, and Mercury in Capricorn in the first house. Meaning I’m like a super Capricorn or something. As I age I’m finding myself becoming left leaning and a socialist. My Rahu is in Aquarius and that’s why. But in contrast I’m also a hard worker and care about money and status and I can be self centered. It’s a weird duality and sidereal explains it very well for me.

I'm trying to figure this out. So far most everyone I know matches their tropical chart, even the ones who don't believe in astrology. I'm not trying to be biased this is just what I've observed personally. I'm trying to find out as much as I can. What have you noticed as far as which matches better?
Tropical says I’m Virgo ♍️ but sidereal says Leo ♌️ my family and friends say I have more of a Leo ♌️ personality then Virgo

Wait, I have a question then and I will try to articulate it as best as I can: So, if this is the case, doesn't that mean are weather patterns would change as well because our planet Earth is not in actual accordance to the actual seasons the way they were thousands of years ago?
I believe my first house was much more accurate in my sidereal than my tropical. But now I don't know if the readings I come across are only referring to tropical or not

I’ve noticed that a lot of people tend to look and publicly behave more like their Sidereal Ascendant than their Tropical Ascendant. But correlate more to their Tropical placements than Sidereal on a personal level.

ive been studying tropical for a couple years and i always tried to force myself to relate to my signs but now that sidereal shows me im a scorpio rather than a sagittarius it makes a hell of a lot of sense now because i always felt connected with scorpio and my whole chart just makes more sense now because i think it’s pretty obvious im a leo rising than a virgo rising imo.....its also especially accurate when i read others charts
In the sidereal system how can you see the retrograde movements? From the point of view of the sun, the planets are never retrogrades. And more: how can you see the horizon line? It's not by this line that you see the body? The body of a person is not the point where the constellations touch the line of the horizon?

Hi Gigi, you still want to stick to your mainstream sign if you are watching mainstream readings. They will still be accurate since the houses are the same.
Well, this seems to be a real eye-opener for me. According to Western Astrology, I'm an Aquarius Sun with an Ascendent/Rising in Gemini and a Moon in Aries. I also happen to have a lot of Capricorns in my birth chart. According to Vedic Astrology, however, I happen to be a Capricorn Sun with an Ascendent/Rising in Taurus and a Moon in Aries. I guess this explains why I had so many planets placed in Capricorn to begin with. I often knew why I didn't necessarily relate to an Aquarius 100% (maybe just about 45%) of the time, given how most Aquarii are both liberal humanitarians. Yet, I do not consider myself either one of those, as I identify more as a libertarian with conservative values and prefer to avoid people if it can be helped. The only thing that stayed the same (to my surprise) was my moon placement in Aries in either charts.
So you use True Sidereal? If so, you would be the first person I've ever encountered who does. For some time now, I have been asking myself: why don't Sidereal astrologers use the true dimensions of the constellation? Siderealist claim to follow the stars, but in fact, they only follow one star, Spica. From Spica, they do the same thing as the Tropicalist, which is draw a circle and divide it by 30 degrees IGNORING THE CONSTLLATIONS. It is a misnomer that Sidereal zodiac does not align perfectly with the Fixed working stars observed by the Babylonians. Clearly, Babylonians APPROXIMATED the earlier 18 Constellations Zodiac into 12 EQUAL SIZE SIGNED house system atleast until 300 B.C. This is not debatable and is well documented fact in Archaeological literature. Furthermore, even the tropical zodiac does not align with seasons with perfectly; Summer lasts for 49 days, Spring for 73 days etc. Hence I call your argument a MISNOMER.

My Tropical Scorpio is in Libra in the 12 sign Sidereal Zodiac, but it is actually in the Virgo constellation and conjunct and parallel lambda Virgo star Khambalia.
I don't follow 13 sign zodiac. It has flaws.
There are stars from other constellations that are in certain IAU signs.
The most notable one is alpha Scorpius star Antares is in Ophiuchus in the IAU 13 sign zodiac.
How can any True Sidereal Astrologer ignore that???

I was finally abble to discover my true natal sidereal with your calculator and i feel so identified with !!, my true sidereal natal is more precise than my vedic chart: in vedic, i'm Leo sun and Scorpio rising and Taurus moon and in my true sidereal chart,i'm Leo/Virgo sun and Libra rising( Libra/Scorpio rising between the two signs) Taurus moon and i love my true sidereal chart and it's really my personnality, thank you for this wonderful discovery! that's why i'm more extraverted than classic Scorpio rising because my real rising is Libra too. Many peoples do not yet see the difference between vedic and true and its a pity! what do you think?
I have come to refer sideral myself but i have a couple suggestions for the calculator your use. In the chart generation the lines for the degrees are alittle hard to follow as to know if the long lines represent 5 degrees are not. If that is not something you could fix maybe you could display where you see the the planet , the sign its in and degree of the sign written out so its clear which degree each placement is in similar to how other astrology sites like cafe astrology have it laid out
I’d say honestly it’s to each is own. Simply because I’ve completed and analyzed both my Sidereal and Tropical chart and I relate nothing to my sidereal. My Sidereal says I’m a Taurus sun and rising and while I understand we are not only just those signs my tropical says my sun and rising is Gemini and I embody so many Gemini. I’ve really looked into how I behave and react to life in general and I embody a tremendous amount of Gemini qualities. I won’t call Sidereal inaccurate because it’s not my expertise but my personality based on how others view me I’m going to go with the western style.

They both 'work', in different ways... sidereal is about events, while tropical is more about the 'meaning' (beginning with the 'seasons').

@@rodak14 Not aware of any, but if you're already familiar with western/tropical astrology, a crude start is to subtract 24 degrees (the current 'Ayanamsa' in Vedic/sidereal astrology, which precedes about a minute of degrees per year), and compare the 'interpretations'.

A quick example might be to start with your own chart, and say your Sun is at 4 degrees Taurus in western astrology, which would make it around 10 degrees Aries in a Vedic/sidereal chart. So while your basic internal 'archetype' and how you see the world might be Taurean (aka, earthy, tenacious, sensually-inclined and good with the 'material' world, etc.), perhaps your 'style' and physical manifestation in what you 'do' is actually much more Aries (active, energetic, and high in 'initiative', etc.). I am both Pisces on my Sun & Moon. But before I even learned about Sidereal, I relate to my tropical ascendant sign Capricorn. and Sagittarius. Strangely, Sagittarius turns out to be my sidereal ascendant sign.
I realize now as they resurface in me very quickly, this process will be done within a week as fast as it is going in the last two days, that the energy and personality sparks etc that you had hijacked because of my willingness to give were what I was chasing down. I remember the real you every time one of them surfaces. That person will be who you are again by the time this is completed at the end of this week, finally! i am more concerned about the nodes. as tropical its taurus and as sidereal its aries. personally the aries north node is one of the most freeing philosophies of balancing self with us, I with we etc. Ive always been about appeasing others in the past but the times id push out of my comfort zone of being the peacekeeper id have these insane epiphanies. I cannot relate to my sidereal chart that much! I know some say that it is more accurate but for me that's not the case. Sidereal says I'm a Leo with two other planets in Leo including Venus and honestly I really wish that resonated with me, I wish I was a Leo, I've always admired the conference of a fire sign! My Sidereal chart feels like a dream chart to me but not exactly my reality. I am definitely more of a Virgo with Sun in the 5th house as my Tropical chart indicates. I relate to my Tropical chart more. But Sidereal is still very interesting to me.
Sun in aquarius in sidereal i am not emotional and romantic as pisces sign and I am not looking for love or partner rather be single or be with friends.

I identify and resonate more with my tropical. Still learning about sidereal, could be that sidereal is my spirit that translates into earth as the tropical. Cause im really confused about how opposite i am of a leo rising. Im too timid, shy and the opposite of a extroverted attention seeker 😳

You can’t base it only on just the sun sign you have to compare both charts from sidereal and western.
What’s weird between the Tropical and sidereal is that the sidereal is like a tilt but the tropical is straight north and south East and west. Yeah it does depends! The pyramids and their direction is telling us something. According to the Bible times and laws have been changed Daniel 7:25. According to Enoch as well. Times which would be how we calculate our days through the constellations and laws taking away of the cosmic law by giving only 10 and changing them to thou shall from I have not.
