- It's hard to imagine a more perfect Sunday here in DC! I started my day at the Dupont Market where I had one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had, sampled LOTS of fruit, and loved looking at all of the different market booths. After the market I went back to my hotel and changed for church at Washington National Cathedral. All I can say is... wow! The beauty of the church and grounds was matched by the beauty of the service. I loved seeing the Space Window, the Darth Vader gargoyle, hearing the bells, and exploring the beautiful grounds. After church I grabbed lunch and then enjoyed some relaxing pool time before checking in for my work event this week and heading to dinner with friends.
This was exactly the kind of day I needed heading in to what could be a heavy week.

I'm with you Adam,I hate humidity! I live in Southern California where we do not have high humidity most of the year, with the exception of monsoon season!

I lived in Northern Virginia and from Philly originally, so I know about humidity. I am so glad your spirit has been happy on this first day and glad Sherry is feeling better. I know you wish she was with you. Your job has some heavy weight, I hope it is a good week for you. Live in Vegas now and honestly I will take the dry heat any day😊
Thanks for taking us along on your trip! Glad Sherri is doing better. "It's not the heat, it's the humidity" was something I heard alot growing up in Illinois--and there is truth to that statement. Hope the rest of your trip is a balance of fun and productive.

Glad to hear Sherri is doing better. Love, love, love the church bells. Grew up in Germany and you hear them a lot there. Not so much here in Florida, where I am. We just have a lot of humidity and I mean a lot and yes, you go broke on buying all the body wash, lol. Have a great time, stay safe and can't wait to see more about your trip

Thank you for sharing the National Cathedral. I enjoyed the tour several years ago. I loved learning about the stained glass and stone masons.
As a Louisiana resident, our answer to the humidity is stay inside lol. If you must do something outside you do it very early in the morning or very late in the evening.

Hey there Adam…loved your day in DC. I used to live in Baltimore and would take visitors to tour DC when they visited. Love the monuments (of course) but I remember visiting Fords Theater 👍and stopping to have lunch at The Old Post Office👌Both full of history and worth a visit!
A visit to Georgetown is a must if you get a chance…great waterfront area!!
I know this is a completely different cathedral but all I can think when you showed the bells ringing was “sing the bells of NOTRE DAME🎶🎶🎶”

Been living in DC for 14 years now, the humidity seems especially nasty this year! If you have time while you're here I recommend stopping at Eastern Market (it's an indoor market open during the day), and also checking out some of the local shops nearby on Barracks Row (8th Street SE) for amazing pastries at Souk, donuts at District Doughnuts, or even secret coffee and buttered popcorn soft serve at Nothing Fancy (coffee shop during the day, 2 Michelin star Pineapple and Pearls at night!)

The next time you’re in DC please make time to come to Rehoboth Beach, DE. It’s 2 1/2 hours east - known as the “nation’s summer capital”. I’ll show you around and treat you guys to lunch! 😁
Nice walk around the city seeing all the little places to visit. The cathedral is absolutely beautiful and I love all the stained glass windows.
Did you take a dip in the pool to cool off ? That is what I like to do.

I cant handle the humidity! I moved from San Diego to Palm Desert. San Diego = Hot and humid Palm Desert = hot and dry!
The humidity in East Texas can be brutal!!
So the trick to surviving the heat? I stay inside in the AC. 🤣🤣
I live here and it was so humid Sunday. It was ridiculous. I was actually in downtown Annapolis and it down poured and flooded as aways. Maryland, and DC are just a humid place in general. As soon as you said you wanted to walk back to the hotel I’m like you will be miserable. I’m so excited that you’re here because I’ll be in Anchorage next month. Well not really Anchorage. I’ll be going on back-to-back cruise. I’m the one who asked you about Saint Theresa shrine. I’m still trying to find a way to get there other than getting a taxi to the airport and renting a car from there. but I might have to do that because I really want to see the shrine. ❤❤❤ anyhow hope you have a great work trip.

Living gulf coast Texas and humidity can be the same as summer heat! I agree it’s close to being in hell🤪
