    to make a long story short. Bluetooth mode = Switch mode. 2.4Ghz mode = Xinput mode.
    Android works only with bluetooth mode. PC handes both. No need to unplug the dongle from the charging dock if the dock is connected via type C since it works as pass-through. In order to update firmare of the controller, unplug the charging dock\2.4 dongle and connect gamepad via usb directly to pc, also you need to upgrade dongle separately (you can keep the controller connected). d-pad is not the best, but overall, extra buttons are not unique, you can only map them as one of the existing buttons. the controller is 7 out of 10.

    If you turn the controller on and then shake it a little bit while the light is flashing, it turns the switch on. It’s goofy, but it works for me every time. 😀

    The analog triggers aren’t a downside because this is made to be a multi platform controller and there is actually a few games on switch that support analog. Like you said you can make the analogs act similar to a digital trigger with low actuation force required for inputs to be registered as full clicks.

    Even if you want amibo support I would still recommend the 8bitdo ultimate Bluetooth controller, as you can just use your joy cons for them you’re not going to be scanning amibos all of the time. The HD rumble is the only real loss but you at least get some rumble just not as high quality as the switch pro controller.

    One thing about the 8BitDo Ultimate Controller that gives me pause is the design of the grips. The grips aren't flared outward like you see with most other controllers, as though 8BitDo was more concerned with the controller's ability to fit into a sleek dock than they were with comfort. So, my question is: How does it feel compared to the Switch Pro Controller? Is one controller more comfortable than the other? Are they about even?
    The Ultimate Controller's grip design is an odd choice considering that the 8BitDo Pro 2 has very comfortable grips that are flared way out. My 8BitDo Pro 2 wireless (Switch/PC) and wired (Xbox/PC) controllers are two of the most comfortable controllers I've ever used.

      I like the more compact 8bitdo formfactor, but that`s probably because I have huge hands and I never really grip controllers like other people do

    • @adamb7460
      @adamb7460 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I just bought the Ultimate controller and this was my first thought. Coming from the PS4 controller where the grips are flared outward, it does feel a bit cramped and off.
      I thought of returning it and going with the Pro 2 but honestly I can't really be arsed. Plus I am a sucker for neat things so the dock gives it a leg up so I am going to give it a chance and see how it feels after a few sessions. If I remember to, I will come back and tell you how I get on.

    It uses motion to turn on the switch.
    You have to wake the controller first with a button press, then shake the controller and wait for the switch to respond.

  • @switchunboxing

    Yeah dude I’ve been using it with Age of Calamity lately and was just looking back and realizing just how high quality the Ultimate controller is. Def the Ultimate controller. Those buttons. Those sticks. And it’s all so well crafted.
    To wake up the Switch, you press home button to turn on the controller, then shake to wake the Switch. It must be in Bluetooth mode. Not sure if you were doing that not. Not saying it’ll fix the issue but maybe.

    8bitdo ultimate at $70 is already "premium" price. You can get much better controllers than the 8bitdo ultimate BT at near that price range, like a flydigi apex 2 or a razer wolverine chroma for just a little bit more. Hell, even a regular Xbox controller with the BigBigWon armor-x back button attachment is better than the 8bitdo controller.

      @@jdxcoffee I own an 8bitdo BT (and also all the other ones i mentioned) and i agree the 8bitdo ultie is a good controller, but i find that the ergonomic/shape of the controller is a bit alien to me since i'm used to xbox shape, and i'm also used to xbox-style triggers as well so the PS-style long triggers on the 8bitdo Ultie put me off, especially when playing a shooting game which relies on constantly pressing the triggers to ADS and to shoot. That's when you start appreciating features like trigger stops on "premium" controllers.

    Good video. I enjoyed watching it but l completely disagree with you. I will always buy the console branded controllers. I used third party controllers in the past and sooner or later I regretted my decision. So, I'd rather spend more money and buy the real stuff. The rule that "you get what you pay for" really applies in this case.

    • @CaptainScarLeg
      @CaptainScarLeg ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That was a perfectly valid stance years ago. Third party controllers were almost always cheaper (and often weirder) alternatives reserved for your friends when they came over to play while you got to use the "real" controller. Third party companies were better for specialised controllers; racing wheels, arcade sticks and so on. But somewhere between the previous couple of console generations the third party peripheral market kind of exploded with countless options ranging from solid to flat out premium quality.
      8BitDo in particular is known for it's quality controllers. This Ultimate Controller and the multiple variants of it have had pretty much universal praise. It's an especially great choice if you're fed up with other controllers developing stick drift, and it has one of the best D-pads on the market, just flat out.
      There are of course still some terrible, tacky controllers out there but they're mostly cheap knock-offs that are fairly easy to avoid, thankfully.

    • @bruhtholemew
