    If you can become a carpenter for your video games, you really love games. Now you can build home shelves, a table etc etc. You unlocked a whole new world to yourself. I have started the same path. Just got my drill, die grinder, other tools etc. Don't forget to call your friends/family and play along with them. Cheers!!

    Here’s a friendly tip you will appreciate. They sell hole saws with slots for drill bits. The drill bit goes into the wood first to guide the hole saw. All my hole saws have the slot for a drill bit. Makes it very hard to mess up.
    When i made my arcade stick i used a small drill bit to drill out the center of the buttons and then used my hole saw with the bigger drill bit to cut the holes out. Worked like a charm and they all came out straight. The drill bit keeps it from deviating. Yes, i have used a hole saw without the drill bit. Never wanna live those days again

      Great project. Especially with how portable it is.

    it's amazing that retropie can replace all those consoles on your shelf with full libraries. this is such a fun and worthwhile project thanks for showing us how to get it done!! would be fun to add leds and force feedback elements in the future :)

    Ooof, a lot of time and money to put this together. What a project! Would love to do this myself one day.

    if you're going to buy tools but don't have the money for good battery tools buy one that can get its power via outlet so it can at least have enough power. also use plywood meant for furniture instead and use glue and screws to construct the box sides then put the top and bottoms on. also make sure the screws are made of steel too to prevent rusting. also pl construction adhesive instead of wood glue just for ease of use

    Does someone know hot to pin up the joystick to a table? Its very annoying to play fight games with a little box like this,

    nice build

    Is there potential for it to get too hot? I assume not as it’s not like you just invaded a whole pc in a wooden box. Regardless, good one and good to watch.

      There's always potential, the harder the wood the more likely that is, I tend to use spade bits as they are a lot sturdier for this precise reason.

    Hi! I really enjoyed this video, can you pass me the measurements for a 2 player control?

    • @retrogameon
      @retrogameon  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got my measurements from a website I've linked in the description, but it appears that it only shows one player panels! Maybe you could conjure up something using what's there?

    You can buy a full PC for that cost.
    ANYWAY, good for you that you made it. Have fun.

      Heh, I already own half a dozen computers. Didn't have that much in the way of woodworking equipment, though!

      But at least he's honest, better than kids doing 'build a fightstick for $20' videos, then using their dads full sized table saws and pillar drills.

  • @user-yv2cz8oj1k
    @user-yv2cz8oj1k 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wrong method, you could have done this with a saw and a drill with some spade bits, if you're willing to be a little more inventive with your methodology. Does require a lot more wood as you pretty much have to build your own jigs.

    I'd stick to the wireless keyboard. One less connector.

    Good video man.. I'd say maybe look at making a twin battle stick, make it worth the money I guess
    and Nioce hills hoist mate :D

      A project on the far horizon might be an additional stick that plugs into this for two player, and I might throw in a trackball for good measure. We'll see. I'm all woodworked out for the foreseeable future.

    I found your channel through Kevin's video: ( th-cam.com/video/hze4TsI00EE/w-d-xo.html )
    I built my own sticks for playing Robotron because it was hard to find a twin stick setup. I used the same controller boards you have. They haven't caused any problems for me other than Windows being confused about what each stick is called.
    I like your wood work, it's well done.

    Would have been cool if it worked as a controller too for sega megadrive/Super Nintendo

      Well that's just swapping out the pi for a usb board. Unless some bright spark has invented something for the pi?
