  • Fun little solo bank fishing session with the fly rod. I typically only use a 6wt when it comes to fresh water because it makes everything way more fun. You don't want a heavy rod because its just a little too much for these fish. Although I've been targeting large snakehead with a 10wt, but that's due to the nature of where I'm fishing and the super heavy cover they live in. I'm not chancing loosing a trophy fish on fly if it decides to bury itself in some thick grass. But ultimately the 6wt is the perfect combo to hit the ponds and catch these incredible fish.

I ate peacock bass in the Amazon cooked over an open fire. It was excellent. They just served it with some little skinny green chili peppers and lime and salt.

I know, right? Felt weird not getting yelled at by a Karen in so long, so had to get out there on foot. Totally got a woman to pull over and yell EXCUSE ME... while I was loading up the truck to leave.

It's a blast, even if you don't catch anything. You can work on your casting. streamer fishing is much like bait casting, very active, run and gun type of fishing and the strikes are usually vicious.

Do you think a 8 weight would be fine for fishing multispecies in florida (snakehead peacock and regular bass) I want to start fly fishing.

Yeah an 8wt is a really good all around rod for everything in SoFla. Even redfish, bonefish, snook, and small tarpon.

You should be disposing those Snake Heads. I know they are a blast to catch but they are invasive.

Still listed as invasive, but research has found they aren't the threat once believed, thus the reason why catch and release where caught is perfectly legal. No reason to dispose of it.
