Hahaha what a great thumbnail (again) . The Urusov is like the Nakhmanson for sane chess players 😅. Thanks for the video

Hey Jonathan if possible please make a study on Lichess on the deep-dive openings you're discussing on the channel...it'll be really helpful to keep track of all the possible lines.

I love this opening for three reasons, really:
    1) It's a fun way to get players at my own level (which is very low) frazzled and in the "grasping at straws" mindset early. If I'm wanting to impress family, for example, who play a game of chess every other Xmas or so....I use this and overwhelm them, then let them win a few times. makes everyone happy.
    2) When you use it again computer, the games are amazingly creative. I don't win, often times, but I do take a lot of the CPU's time and material.
    3) [most important to me] When I would play against my son (who is just 13 and didn't like chess ever. he can solve a series of different types and shapes of rubik's cube and puzzles in less time than it takes me to write this post), my son had a record of about 1-8 against me. He has a new found tenacity, however, so he took his time to start thinking, which out being told to, 'What are all of my possible moves and how can he respond to it? if he does respond that way, what can I do to retalate?' .....and it was a level of thinking that allowed him to master his speed cubes. So, the very first time I used this against him.....he lost but barely and only because he missed opportunities to capitalize on my mistakes. I played him tonight and tried this three times on him...and I lost each time. I'm not saying he is the best ever (it's been a very, very short amount of time that he has been playing. like, sub 100 games, type of short) but he has advanced so much that it will be a month or two and I will no longer be able to compete with him, let alone teach him. This opening showed him, the first time, a lot of things he didn't consider...like covering a square or piece with multiple pieces at the same time, or a gambit in general. He adapted and now, I'm having to master this and other opening, Mid and end games so that I can even play! That....makes me nearly burst at the seams with pride!

One hole I've discovered is after nf3 the engine goes directly for Bc4+ which messes the whole thing up makes it difficult for white to advance his plans

Why chuckle around 0:52 about frustrating Petroff players, when at 1:01 the e4 pawn is not taken, but 4.. Nc6 instead, with equality? BTW, this line also is often reached from the Petroff. 4..Bb4+ may be even better. Perhaps you have covered these continginces in another video.

In your first example, I like to play Bd3 as soon as the black d-pawn is moved, because my worst nightmare is black playing Bf5 and taking over the crucial diagonal for my light-square bishop.

I like to play the Urusov, but i find this line that i think is very good for black:
    6.Nc3 Nc6
    7.Qh4 d5!?
    8.Nxd5 Nxd5
    9.Qxd8+ Nxd8
    10.Bxd5 Be6

Ah, I finally understand. Whenever I play Petrov and they go knight f3 first followed by bishop c5, Lichess tells me it's Urusov Gambit. But that move order changes everything. I often have zero trouble after I take on e4. There is trouble for black if they take my pawn after I play d4.

Thx man! Dude it's interesting to see what the doctor does in his study. If u need more subscribers just be real quick every now and then and show a recent tournament game between Hikarulevel guys. That may be relating to your type of play. I'd say your own games draws a lot of attention as well. So 3. Set up games of fourplayer chess with one girl and three dudes. It's almost like watching an episode of friends. Sometimes the least social dudes are the funniest to watch. Also 4. TH-cam can perhaps help you boost your numbers. I hear alot of them are just bogus. But that's bad manors! Anyway highly entertaining! Looking forward to the St Louis upcoming event. Take care!

Diving deep?? In ...c6-...d5 defence he only shows lines where black castles. This is all very entertaining, but black is not forced to castle, he can play ...h6-...Be6-....Nbd7-....Nc5 and then ...Nfd7 at appropriate moment. Very simple plain, laid out by L'Ami, with which I won many games with black.

Too bad that black plays 5....Nc5 instead of Nf6 and there is not enough compensation. Black has a simple setup with Ne6, Nc6-Ne7, c6-d5.
