I never use washer for washing my sweaters i just soak them in shampoo for about an hour then rinse them by hand in this way the sweaters are long lasting for me

My washing machine shrunk several Ralph Lauren cashmere sweaters - in gentle cold cycle it was actually hot!water. Wished I had seen this video before I tossed them out. Thanks - looks so easy.

You are a sweetheart! I've scrunged thrift shops, saved fabrics, but never put the effort in to make them really well. You're a good seamstress, you show how to make things in an easy-to-follow and worthy way! I like the twisted end hat on this one, the best. Whoo! I'm off now to felt an old cashmere sweater and make something! Ttyl!

Wash sweaters on cool water and lay out on a towel to air dry. Do not put them in the dryer! Wool shrinks when heated. You can UN-shrink a shrunken garment somewhat by soaking in cool water with a generous amount hair conditioner and gently stretch the fabric by hand to the shape and size desired. Let air dry.

This was going fine until I tried the bowl tip. Did not work for me. I highly recommend a knotty sweater like the video creator used so that there is some ability to disguise how VERY DIFFICULT it is to get the top of the hat rounded. I used (and ruined) a thinner, smooth sweater- it has these funny pointy areas that I just cannot get to lay flat no matter how many times I sew it again, slightly changing the shape.

I wash my cashmere low short wash in my machine and low short spin in a round zipped bag for bras in old water so they don’t get stretch or shrink , I hate hand washing!
America has top loading washing machine , the Uk has front loading machine much kinder to your clothes

Natural fiber sweater with any content of wool need to be wash by hand in cold water, spin out in the machine, lay flat to dry. and reshape if needed. Nice video but you didn't show how you used a sewing machine on the seams (or did you do it all by hand).

One person states here that s/he uses shampoo: sounds like a great idea. At our house, we make a washing machine tub of lightly soapy water & put the woolens in & keep the washer open & use a plunger to plunge it (this plunger is only used for clothing, nothing else - it has a clear handle to distinguish it from any other plunger). Then we take the woolens out & wash something else in the soapy water. When that load is full of rinse water, we put the woolens in & repeat the plunging process. The woollens are carefully rolled to get the water out in each step. To help woolens dry much faster, they can be rolled in clean, dry towels to gently wring out the water. Then lay or drape the woollens carefully to dry.

They are all great. You can save real wool sweaters by putting them in the tub with hair conditioner. soak for a few minutes. Wrap in towels to help wring out the water. Always hang flat to dry.
