What did you think of the incident in the hairpin?
racing incident. The penalty for the Lambo is bonkers.
The Porsche made a bold move. You could call it an unexpected or low percentage move.
both drivers share this one and when that happens, a racing incident is usually the call.
@@camrsr5463 The arguement could be made that the lambo was throwing a block but regardles sit was a low % move as you mentioned by the porsche and I was pretty shocked we saw a penalty handed out for it
Too aggressive from the Porsche. You rarely can pass clean in the hairpin.
For everybody who’s just getting into endurance racing, welcome. Don’t gatekeep. This is not F1. All are welcome. Enjoy the skill. Enjoy the action. Enjoy the door to door. Enjoy the thrill an entire race through. Glad to have you!

tbh, i was really mad at the wannabe experts coming over from F1 due to the accessibility of the YT-stream, they were so obnoxious and bashed on the race and the sport for almost the whole 100 minutes... i mean, it's cool that more people watch IMSA, but like you said, this is not F1 and people need to respect that ._.

What surprised me the most about the hairpin accident is that no one was stalled or stuck unable to find reverse gear

I should be back for a Laguna stream! BMW did look really strong, I wonder if they had been able to get around the Porsches if they would have been able to give Cadillac a run for their money

There was a race? Peacock didn't really show much of the race. Just the pretty areas of the LBC and a few in race ads, the rest was dead air for commercial breaks.
The driving standards do suck. It's the 'go huge, or go home' mentality that F1 and NASCAR do. It really doesn't work in endurance racing at all, but Factory drivers can get replaced on a whim of the CEO or whoever...
Yeah I heard that the NBC broadcast spent far too much time in commercial break, seems like the norm right now unfortunately.
Still holding out hope that we can see some of these incidents be cleaned up as the season goes on, it sucks to see so many innocent drivers/teams races ruined by some of these
@@offintheesses I'm starting to wonder if IMSA will be on NBC next year. They gave MotoGP to TNT Sports and NASCAR Grand National to the CW, both being WB owned cannels.
Ya, that should have totally been on the #7 Porsche, not only did he try a low percentage move you can see he actually rubs the rt quarter of the Lambo coming out of the corner before.
I’m sorry but the Lamborghini as room on the outside of the door well before contact it made it was 100% avoidable contact
good point but the drivers dont see the same things we do which is why ill still put 70% blame on the porsche

They've been so good to start the year! If they have just a bit more luck then we could be talking about them winning the first 3 races of the year!
I was skeptical about the race only having 2 classes. But it didn't disappoint.
It was a solid race, good battles in both of the classes!
If Herta didn't get a penalty for "stroll-ing" Newgarden, that should have not been a penalty for the 79.
I've been a fan of Seb Bourdais for a long time, glad to see him win - good weekend for CGR!
15:00 - I agree, there are a couple of the GTP drivers who really should calm it down a bit imo.
To be fair it's not just some GTP drivers there are plenty of moves made across all of the classes where a bit more patience needs to be shown!
definitely know who ur referring too and even if we got different ppl in mind first thing i thought of was the incident with the 66 at sebring
Too many cars on the grid is part of the problem. Should be GT3 only or GTP only at Long Beach. Always seems too tight for good racing/clean passing. Carnage and elbows out is entertaining, but someone always gets screwed in penalty phase.
The only problem with this race I think it was too short.
Loved the race and I’m a huge Porsche fan but the #7 did get lucky but I’ll take it! Love the videos!
now that ive seen the race, i thought it was a little underwhelming with the fcy’s in the latter stage of the race. the turn 11 incident i think really threw the race off.
A lot of iRacing shenanigans going on. As a racing driver I’d feel bad if I scratched the car let alone wrecking it. These cars ain’t cheap dammit!

Wrong place at the wrong time for them! The good news is they announced that car will be at Laguna!
9:40 disagree with you (and the commentators at the time who thought the Porsche had snookered the lambo into the sister car), the lambo clearly knew that the porsche was there, no one else was going to be there, take the wider line following the other LMDH and get free exit speed and double draft down the start finish "straight". To all intents and purposes, the Lambo looked like he was blocking the 2nd porsche, and i think thats where the penalty came from. It was so unnecessary, and a move we've seen many times in previous years because of the stratification of the cars.
Fair! However if we want to call the Lambo "block" unnecessary then is it not also reasonable to say that attempting to make a pass like that into the hairpin is also unnecessary?
@@offintheesses Oh 100%, just giving an alternative perspective that may have aligned with the stewards decision. Both drivers could've done things differently, and yeah, the pass was at best a 90% "I need to stay in touch, Lambo must know/have been told I'm here" kinda thing. Comes down to trusting the drivers around you, Porsche had that trust misplaced, in the end.
Also the comments further down are a bit sad. Imagine saying you're out of your mind for blaming the Porsche. Clearly F1 fans down there ;)

To be clear I don't place all of the blame on the 7! It was an agressive move into the hairpin by the 7 and the 78 could have done more to accomodate it. It's a racing incident in my eyes

I don't put all of the blame on the 7 for this, the 78 could have done more to facilitate the pass by the 7. But the 7 was attempting a very agressive move into a very tight corner. It should have been ruled a racing incident in my eyes
@@offintheesses I understand, but if the Lamborghini keeps that wide angle for their exit and the #6 isn’t there that’s a great move to possibly cut down a few tenths on the Caddy’s out front when they’ve been a little behind the whole race. Felipe’s pace is much stronger than Dane’s and that left him some ground to make up. Based on the aggressive nature of the Forte Lamborghini the previous bit of the race it was only a matter of time before they stuck their nose in the mouse trap, unfortunately it took the 6 out of podium contention. The BMW ramming the Lamborghini out of the way was another thing I didn’t agree with and led to their exit. There was impatience, but not on the account of the Porsche cars.
I'd imagine the Lambo driver had his eyes on the apex and didn't expect the Porsche to be there, and at that point was too late to slow down enough to avoid the collision.
I suppose Spinnelli could have expected a move from the Porsche and slowed? But, if you're driving a GTP, why force a move there, right before a loooong straight?
I agree, the #7 caused that incident by not being patient.
The Lambo blocked, if the 7 waited a bit longer it had the whole straight to pass. So yes the impatience of the 7 Porsche caused the crash.
@@MiguelVillagomezTV Incident responsibility went to the right driver. Jeremy Shaw was completely wrong for making that call on the broadcast that either Porsche was in the wrong.
Penalty for the Lambo is justified imo. the Porsche went for the pass, which they are allowed to do in the hairpin. the Lambo sees the Porsche go for the pass and the Lambo chooses to close the door and not open up the entry to the hairpin. with the Lambo looking in his mirrors at the Porsche behind, he doesn't realize where the Porsche in front is and he hits him. Lambo at fault here
